One of those books with 2 storylines: around the beginning of WWII and the present day. The latter has a mystery that stems from the WWII story. The quest to find the answers is interesting, and one wants the main character to be successful in that and other aspects of her life. The WWII storyline moves at a slower pace, and thus, this reader looked forward to the present day chapters more. Overall enjoyable read where all the answers are revealed. BTW, This books has little violence for a WWII setting, but one is definitely aware of its presence.
The Lost Letter is such an amazing book! I could not put it down! I love when books are not predictable and that is exactly what this book was. So many plot twists. The ending just absolutely and perfectly completed it for me! I loved this book so much! I think it’s one of my new favorites!! I highly recommend it
Loved this very original novel. Started a bit slow but built to a fabulous novel that will remain a favorite for the rest of my life. Seldom do i turn a page at 300+ in a book snd actually gasp to understand… a remarkable story.
This is My first read by Jillian Cantor could not put it down read late into the night have recommended it to several of my friends, This book will not disappoint a must read.
An excellent historical novel. A tragic yet unique Holocaust love story. A page turner with several unexpected twists. I enjoyed the method of shifting between near present day California and late 1930s Austria. Very interesting and engrossing.
Good book about life curing the war and how things have changed
This book was so full of information and insightful emotions that must have been prevalent in Austria during World War II. The characters we’re well developed and I loved how the plot connected the characters from past with characters of the present times.
I couldn’t put it down! Wonderful story, lots of twists and turns, thoroughly enjoyable.
Oh my gosh – this grabbed me and held me through. I was surprised at how the letter went from never having been opened to being opened at the end. And all that went on through had be anxiously awaiting the next twist & turn.
Thoroughly enjoyed it
Gives a potential view of life during WWII. Loved it.
Enjoyed the background work. Quite real.
Not quite as good as the Nightingale, but a close second.
Great story. Very interesting about stamp collecting, and usage of stamps during WWII to pass messages under noses GDR in Nazi held Austria and Germany. Other historical facts such as the taking down of the Berlin Wall. Set in 1838 Austria and 1989 US. Fictional characters and story based on historical people and events. Author did good research and created relevant, interesting book. Romance and family aspects a nice touch too. Highly recommend.
I loved this book. When I find the time and look forward to reading a book I’ve picked up, I know the writing style and story line are special. I learned so much about stamp engraving and had no idea that they carried messages during the war. I found both time frames and characters in each engaging. I will read more by this author. Well done!
This book was wonderful. I couldn’t put it down. It was moving tragic and happy. Great author
Great read
I liked the characters and did not anticipate the ending… enjoyed very much!
Held my interest to see where it was going. I read a fair number of Holocaust-related fiction and non-fiction.
I enjoy stories relating to true past historial events. This story was very plausible, well written, and had unexpected plot twists.
