Enjoyed this tale of friendship, love, and intrigue. Well edited – a small hitch here and there, but not enough to truly interrupt the story.
Brook is raised the daughter of an opera singer and considered part of the royal family of Monaco. She has a best friend in Justin, who will one day inherit the title of Duke. Along the way, Brook finds out no one in her life is really related to her, and Justin vows to help find her family. Turns out she is the lost daughter to a prominent family of the peerage. Her father is overjoyed to have her returned, and she struggles to find her place in the family home. Justin tries to give her space as he deals with the death of his father, grandfather, and inheriting the title and responsibilities of a Duke. There is much intrigue and mystery – among the servants, regarding the death Brook’s mother and her own subsequent appearance, why the opera singer and Prince of Monaco took her in, why someone now wants something from her, and Justin’s own family secrets. Who is truly trustworthy? Will the villain(s) win out? Will Brook and Justin come to their senses in time?
This is an enjoyable book It has many references to trusting in God, scripture, prayer, and faith. Sometimes, that is all overdone, but in this one, it feels authentic and true. Enjoy!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Even obtained the other two books in the series and checked to see what else the author has written. Recommend this to others who enjoy historical fiction.
