From the author of the runaway bestseller The Orphan’s Tale comes a remarkable story of friendship and courage centered around three women and a ring of female secret agents during World War II.
1946, Manhattan
One morning while passing through Grand Central Terminal on her way to work, Grace Healey finds an abandoned suitcase tucked beneath a bench. Unable to resist her own curiosity, Grace opens the suitcase, where she discovers a dozen photographs—each of a different woman. In a moment of impulse, Grace takes the photographs and quickly leaves the station.
Grace soon learns that the suitcase belonged to a woman named Eleanor Trigg, leader of a network of female secret agents who were deployed out of London during the war. Twelve of these women were sent to Occupied Europe as couriers and radio operators to aid the resistance, but they never returned home, their fates a mystery. Setting out to learn the truth behind the women in the photographs, Grace finds herself drawn to a young mother turned agent named Marie, whose daring mission overseas reveals a remarkable story of friendship, valor and betrayal.
Vividly rendered and inspired by true events, New York Times bestselling author Pam Jenoff shines a light on the incredible heroics of the brave women of the war and weaves a mesmerizing tale of courage, sisterhood and the great strength of women to survive in the hardest of circumstances.

Great read !
I LOVE HOW THIS READ NOT EASY BUT ENJOYABLE.
I like historical fiction and this book dealt with a subject I knew nothing about. Learning about female British agents who worked behind enemy lines during WWII was a real eye-opener.
The men in this book were losers.
The struggle that the girls endured trying to protect France from the Germans. Every time they went on a mission they knew it could be their last. The young girl that happened upon some photographs and wanted to return them to the owner. I loved this book. I was sad when I finished it…
Nicely structured to keep the reader guessing! I enjoyed it.
Just enough twists and turns to keep my interest. Good story!
I enjoy reading about different groups that contributed to the ultimate defeat of the Nazi’s in Europe in WWII. This group of brave women I had not heard of before.
I hated to reach the end of the book. I was entirely in the dark as far as the jobs these women did during the war. I understand it was a fictionalized version of what really happened. These women earned total respect from me for having the courage to undertake a dangerous life as they did.
Love the book, really like this author
The Lost Girls of Paris is well-written and captures the reader’s attention from the very beginning. It is an excellent book that is nearly impossible to put down.
A great pandemic book. It kept my attention to the last page. And then made me thoughtful. It provides folllowup reading suggestions.
Enjoyed a lot! Learned some interesting info too!!
I love WWII NOVELS based on daring and courage. This is a great one.
I enjoyed it, but there were parts that were telescoped
Interesting read set in Europe during World War II. Worthwhile but not fabulous
This was my first Pam Jenoff historical novel, and I’m looking forward to reading another one of hers soon. Her writing is beautiful and the historical detail so well researched and presented. The handful of POV characters and how their stories all wove together was intriguing, and I enjoyed many of the side characters like Frankie and Mark. Eleanor carried the novel, in my opinion, and her character was the strongest in many ways. She had real motivation to do the things she did, to follow her convictions, while Grace and Marie both had weaker motivations, which at times I had a hard time understanding. Marie really had no solid/believable reason to leave her daughter and go learn to be a spy, and then (SPOILER) when in France, to face near certain capture/death for a man she hardly knew, but suddenly was in love with. And Grace really had no reason to go to such lengths to solve the mystery of the photographs she’d found. It left me scratching my head many times. Still, the subject of betrayed female spies in WW2 is a great hook and Jenoff’s writing style and research shines. Glad I picked it up!
Historical WWII fiction based on some real life characters who, I hope, did not make such ridiculous decisions as some of the characters in this book. However, the basic story of what these women did was awe inspiring.
I loved the book
