Realizing the fleet’s best (and only) chance is to do the unexpected, Geary takes the offensive and orders the fleet to the … the fleet to the Sancere system. There, a multitude of possible routes home give the Alliance fleet a better chance of avoiding their pursuers—and an attack on the Sancere shipbuilding facilities could decimate the Syndic war effort.

Great series
A very good sci fi read!
If you like the series, you will like this.
Campbell’s lost fleet series is the absolute must to read
If you are looking for “Science Fiction” not “Fantasy Fiction” in a series that has continuity, give this a read. You will not be disappointed.
Great series.
3rd book in series excellent story, great characters, love the stories
I would put this book right up there with Starship Troopers.
The Fleet Series is wonderful. Military science fiction at it’s finest.
One of the best in a series of these books!
I would recommend any of the Black Jack series. They are all good reads. It’s best to read them in order to see the changing/evolving characters and the always over riding objective of getting home and the various obstacles Black Jack has to overcome to achieve this. Great fun.
Cant wait to download the next book in this series. Excellent space opera.
For fans of space opera, this series is a must have. the opening story has the main space fleet facing off against a alien fleet. They were just meeting to talk a little peace. Reminds me of the UN peace forces multiple failures. Then all He?? breaks loose and it falls to a legend found in a ejected life pod to save the day. I really like this series. The author does a excellent job of development of the characters amid excellent plot twists!!! I liked the series so much that I bought the paper books from my library after I had read the e-books.!!! I highly recommend the series. I do suggest the you not allow any one younger that 18 from reading it, the descriptions of fighting and dying and very detailed. and painful to read at times…
Great space military series. I read to them all.
Amazing storyline. Couldn’t put it down
As the author, John Hemry said in an interview at AwesomeCon in 2017, heroes are not heroes without the help of others. This story is about a man who does not want to be a hero but is forced into the role, despite his history. If you like Drake or other military fiction, you will like this.
The “Lost Fleet” series was hard to put down, and I read them one after another. The action and the writing technique were addictive for me. However, character development was very limited. Most characters were good guys, bad guys, or bad guys pretending to be good guys. I might reread my favorite books (e.g., Starship Troopers) several times over the years. I’m not interested in reading the Lost Fleet a second time. The next series, I tried, Vatta’s War by Elizabeth Moon, is also a spacewar opera, equally page turning and with better characters. (But with the occasional outrageous coincidence to assure the story can move neatly forward.)
I had a difficult time stretching my imagination for some of the concepts, but it eventually resolved.
Very interesting series. Well done.
Each in the series led me to the next, I only wished for more. Excellent action sequences, believable characters. Recommended.
