From #1 New York Times bestselling authors Cassandra Clare and Wesley Chu comes the second book in the Eldest Curses series and a thrilling new adventure for High Warlock Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood, for whom a death-defying mission into the heart of evil is not just a job, it’s also a romantic getaway. The Lost Book of the White is a Shadowhunters novel.Life is good for Magnus Bane and Alec … good for Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood. They’re living together in a fabulous loft, their warlock son, Max, has started learning to walk, and the streets of New York are peaceful and quiet—as peaceful and quiet as they ever are, anyway.
Until the night that two old acquaintances break into Magnus’s apartment and steal the powerful Book of the White. Now Magnus and Alec will have to drop everything to get it back. They need to follow the thieves to Shanghai, they need to call some backup to accompany them, and they need a babysitter.
Also, someone has stabbed Magnus with a strange magical weapon and the wound is glowing, so they have that to worry about too.
Fortunately, their backup consists of Clary, Jace, Isabelle, and newly minted Shadowhunter Simon. In Shanghai, they learn that a much darker threat awaits them. Magnus’s magic is growing unstable, and if they can’t stop the demons flooding into the city, they might have to follow them all the way back to the source—the realm of the dead. Can they stop the threat to the world? Will they make it back home before their kid completely wears out Alec’s mom?

I loved this book so much
I’m a big fan of Cassandra Clare, but this book exceeded my expectations, I enjoyed it so much.
In this book Magnus, Alec, Jace, Clary, Simon and Isabelle travel to Shanghai in order to save the world from a prince of hell, there’s action, romance and an unexpected battlefield.
Definitely a must read if you love shadowhunters.
Reading a lot of reviews on Goodreads that saying that Cassandra Clare should stop writing book in the Shadowhunters world. I just don’t get those people. Why complain and write a review on a book if you don’t even read it…
Anyway, The lost book of the White is the sequel in The Eldest Curse series. I love Magnus always have been one of my fave character. Its not going so well for him, someone stab him with a magical weapon and the wound is glowing and not helping someone also stole him The book of the white. He will need to go to Shangai with Alec and backing them up are Jace, Izzy, Clary and Simon. As Magnus powers are becomming unstable and demons are starting to flood in the city. They will need to go to Hell to stop the threat to the world and to cure Magnus.
I’m looking foward for the next book in that serie.
The Lost Book of the White is a brilliant follow-up to The Red Scrolls of Magic, and a can’t miss sequel that only gets better with each chapter. Avid fans of the Shadowhunters world will be offered new surprises to the stories they already love. The Eldest Curses are written in a way that anyone can enjoy the adventure, the humor, and the romance. The story progression shows the fan-favorite couple Alec and Magnus as parents to their son Max, but the adventure in their lives hasn’t slowed down. Their son stays with Alec’s mother while they traipse after the bad guys and battle against a demon prince. So many components of this story draw you in right from the beginning with the action as the return of Ragnor Fell shocks everyone. Big moments are woven throughout from Magnus being injured to Ragnor’s return to a betrayal to taking a trip back to hell.
One of the strengths of the series is the humor which is a staple of Clare with every character that graces this world having a strong sense of what’s funny. The dialogue is spot-on with fast-wit and clever retorts. Even the bad guys are hysterical with the demon prince and a demon from Magnus’ past stealing the scene with their quippy dialogue. The new installment features several familiar faces as the couple teams up with their closest friends. This creates a fun reunion of favorites from Mortal Instruments and offers something new for each of the characters. The banter between them is always enjoyable and creates chemistry between the characters that shine.
Highly quotable, action-packed, and an emotional thrill ride that pulls you in and doesn’t let go, The Lost Book of the White is entertaining, clever, and a must-have on your shelf.
I like all of the Shadowhunter series, but this is not one of the better ones. Worth reading if you enjoy the series.
