When I was eleven, my father lost his job and became a pathetic excuse for a father. A few months later I found Roxanna Raine buried in snow, barely hanging on to life.
Her father was the reason mine was an alcoholic, and I thought about letting her freeze to death.
One look in her eyes and she became my kryptonite. I swore I would get my revenge, though, even if it was on the fair-skinned beauty.
When I was nineteen, I left Rox without an explanation—broken-hearted and even more lost.
Now, I’m back and I’ll do anything to make up for the stolen time.
You’ll love this sweet but twisted tale that’s part dark romance, part coming of age story, because who wouldn’t want to find their soul mate?

Holy twisty book Batman! This is one of the best dark suspense reads I’ve come across in a long time. From the moment I began this story my heart was racing, blood pressure rose and crashed back down with heartbreak. I was sucked in and couldn’t get out until I read the very last page.
My heart absolutely shattered for Rox. The childhood she barely survived and the adolescents she endured almost broke me in two! I wanted to reach through the pages, pull her put and show her what normal looks like. Wran is a man I wanted to slap repeatedly and became frustrated when I found him slightly endearing. He’s a dark and twisted individual that I wanted to loathe, but just couldn’t.
This book was the absolute perfect blend of dark, twisty, touches of sweet and extremely suspenseful. There were so many surprises I didn’t see coming and I LOVE that! I highly recommend this book. And that ending?? I did NOT see it finishing that way which is outstanding!
Yes I get that this is a dark read, it has massive triggers, most of which are left to the reader to accept and discover. But the truth is this is straight up abuse at its worst within the best of it. You feel for these characters but then looking past them to what they have been through well I just can not get past that the abuse was not asked for or even acceptable. There is no spin on this that would make it ok. However the writing was spectacular and Miss Alexander does a remarkable job of bringing these characters to life while brining a horrific story to light. This was very dark read and oh my gosh the triggers are such that you have to really look at the writer and the writing to probably overcome them. It is a very emotional story and not for the faint of heart!

The Lost and the Scarred by T. Marie Alexander was all about lies and secrets. It was a read that had me all twisted inside until I got to the end.
Roxanna’s happy childhood was short lived when her mom died and her dad began taking out his evil and twisted punishments on her. One day during her father rages Roxanna’s nanny sacrifices herself to save Roxanna’s life. Leaving Roxanna on the run for what seems like days.
Wran was just a child himself when he finds a little girl in a snow pile in his backyard. Even though he knows she is the reason, in his mind, that his father lost his job and became a good for nothing drunk, he feels like he should take care of her.
Many years later when Wran comes home from the military. Secrets begin to unfold and Wran doesn’t handle them well.
I enjoyed the book for the most part. I felt that it was slow at points, but picks up speed rapidly at the end. I felt that Wran was twisted in his own way, and enjoyed causing Roxanna pain, but also wanted to be the one to take the pain away. While Roxanna felt Wran hung the moon.

T. Marie Alexander is a new to me author. The Lost and The Scarred is the first book in the Kingston City Limits. There was a lot going on in this book, but it kept my interest from beginning to end. Their relationship was unique and to many my be quite erratic in nature, but it seems to have worked for Rox and Wran until it didn’t. I really enjoyed the storyline and all the characters. This book is filled with drama and angst and will leave you wanting more. I really hope it’s not a long wait for book two.
The Lost and the Scarred by T. Marie Alexander is a MUST read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
I was excited about reading The Lost and the Scarred. I have become a massive fan of dark romances. The blurb promised that this was going to be a juicy one. And it was. I couldn’t read this book fast enough.
The plotline that highlighted Wran and Rox’s dysfunctional relationship was dark. Oh so dark and I loved it.
The plotline with Rox and Harley was interesting. It took me a while to realize what happened. I understood why Rox insisted on keeping her visits to Harley a secret. Wran would have blown a gasket.
The plotline with Rox and her father was heartbreaking. The author was cautious not to reveal too much about her years with him. I did guess at what happened to Rox after her mother’s death. There have been very few times where I wished that I could morph into a book and bring all holy hell to a character. This was one of them.
The romance between Rox and Wran didn’t seem real to me. Mainly because of how Wran acted. He was an immature, jealous idiot with an anger management problem and he took it out on Rox. So, yeah, the romance didn’t spark for me.
Josh drove me nuts. He had the power to keep Wran away from Rox. He was the freaking sheriff!! Instead, he talked and talked but didn’t do anything about it. He let Wran have his man tantrums all over the place. He even got assaulted by Wran at the police station. Which made me go “WTF.”
Cade was another person who drove me nuts in the book. He held back who he was to Rox. He went out of his way to piss Wran off. But, he did come through in the end.
The end of The Lost and the Scarred ticked me off. I didn’t agree with what Lynn did at all. Also, it was a cliffhanger. And if you have been reading my blog long enough, then you know how I feel about cliffhangers. I do need to read book 2.
Whoa whoa whoa! T. Marie Alexander left me in a tizzy with The Lost and the Scarred. My heart grew heavier and heavier with each page that was turned. That is a very good thing for me. I need my emotions rattled. I need to feel like I am part of the book world that I am reading. These characters killed me. What seemed like a happily every after, can become your worst nightmare that you live over and over.
The Lost and the Scarred made me shiver. The dark, the lost, the lost hope makes you want to save these characters. I loved that I needed recovery time with the book hang over I had when I was done reading this story. This book is truly a hidden gem you need to get yours hands on!!!!
