Two teenage friends become obsessed with finding a missing classmate. To gather information about her, they attend a party. However, the girls forget all about their quest when a couple of cute college boys invite them to their gameroom. They hand over their cell phones. (I don’t care how cute the boy; I know very few kids who willingly hand over their phones.) From there, the girls learn what happened to their classmate – and all the missing teens from their area.
This book ends with an obvious ploy to force readers to buy the next book. I suppose this book nods to the “Saw” franchise, sort of, or gladiatorial combat ala Hunger Games, Divergent, or Maze Runner.
This book is by far the best I’ve read all year! It is worth every bit of sleep lost to finish it. The ending, while unfortunate, was completely unexpected. I love Preston’s ability to place readers inside the scene and make them FEEL. There are few authors with the ability to take their reader’s hand and pull them in. I am so grateful to have read this.
I was unable to put The Lost down from the moment I started it as I needed to know what was going to happen next, and in true Natasha Preston style she gave us an ending that has now left me begging for more!
The scenes that I have read throughout the book have had me sitting on the edge of my seat with my heart having a good workout at the same time. It was torture learning the finer details of what went on in this story, but I couldn’t have skipped a page. The author had me compelled to learn the facts even though I shouldn’t really want to know them. I was hooked, the anxiety that I had throughout was real and I honestly didn’t know how things would end for Piper and Hazel.
This thriller certainly lives up to its genre description. I loved how strong Piper was throughout, even though she was a little naïve and too trusting. At seventeen years of age I think we can all say we have made some bad decisions; I’m just relieved mine didn’t end up with me being in the same situation as Piper.
I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it without a second thought.
Amazing book that I couldn’t put down. Read start to finish and highly recommend.
This book started off amazing, just like her other books but towards the end it became rushed and strange. It was almost like the author gave up so just wrote whatever down. I usually love all of her books but this one was disappointing.
I love all of Natasha Preston’s books!
I think this book was a total page turner. I normally have a bad habit of reading the last page but this time, I resisted and was in total shock of what had happened. It is scary and yet sad about how the real world is and how most of this stuff can happen. Natasha Preston should make even more books than what she has already.
