Been enjoying reading Mrs Wanda’s book. And in this story she is joined by her daughter in law Jean.
I truly enjoyed this story. I was laughing every minute. It is the story of twins Elma and Thelma. Thelma so easy going free spirited. Elma OCD organized girl. Reminded me a little of me. They are 30 and not married and living with their parents. But when their Grandparents pass away in a buggy accident they are left with the house and store they owned.
This is the time to live on their own and hopefully find a husband. Which is tricky because of a promise they made as young girls. But when a flyer about a cooking show shows up Thelma knows that she and her sister should enter it with their Grandma’s cake recipe.
As they get situated into fixing up the house that is in need of many repairs and the store that needs to be put back in an organized way, they work hard in making the cake for the event. But with their Grandma’s stove, a silly cat and a buggy ride to the event will it be the answer they are hoping to have in getting to make new friends in their new community?
Will the two young man that start bidding on their silly looking cake be the young men that are meant for either of the twins? You’ll enjoy this sweet, uplifting, full of fun action story that you’ll truly enjoy. Different from all the others that I have read but enjoyed it very much. Plus their Grandma’s cake recipe is in the back. Enjoy.
This is the story of twins, alike and yet so different. Elma and Thelma Hochstetler are thirty-two year old identical twins who are both single and still living in their family home in Illinois. When they inherit their grandparents’ farm in Indiana, Elma and Thelma leave their comfort zone and move there. We soon witness some of their experiences and adventures and these twin’s differing personalities become very evident. Elma is very capable and likes to take control and Thelma is an outgoing, sociable person who sometimes has trouble completing everyday tasks; the word klutz might be the word to describe her! It is Thelma who decides that they should enter a baking contest together but she fails to mention that the cake will be made before a live audience! The finished product is disappointing, to say the least, but it doesn’t stop two Amish gentlemen from bidding on this “lopsided” cake. They are intrigued by these young women and this baking contest is the catalyst that begins courtships for both Elma and Thelma.
The Christmas Lopsided Cake gave me a different viewpoint of Amish life. I always think of Amish women as being very capable and having their own large families at an early age; they are extremely capable and they always have “perfect” baked goods! This collaboration by Wanda Brunstetter and her daughter-in-law Jean is both humorous and heartfelt. It has laugh-out-loud moments and I recommend this entertaining read!
I received a copy of this book from the author and Barbour Publishing in exchange for my honest review. All expressed opinions are my own, and no monetary compensation was received for this review.

A cute Amish story about Amish twin sisters who enter a fundraiser baking contest and meet two Amish eligible bachelors. You will want to keep reading to find out what happens!
Loved this book. Wanda Brunstetter writes some of the best Amish stories out today.
The Hochstetler twins are new in the town of Topeka Indiana. Elma and Thelma have inherited their grandparents estate, which includes a house and general store. In order to claim their inheritance they must leave their mom and dad and the life they know in Sullivan Illinois, and take up residence in Indiana. All too soon they find themselves standing in front of their late grandparents run down house with a barn that’s seen better days. Perhaps they were too hasty in excepting their inheritance before packing up and leaving home !
New York Times Bestselling Author Wanda Brunstetter has teamed up with her Daughter- In- Law Jean and put their talents together to create a very humorous Amish Christmas book for their readers. The story is centered around the identical twins as they get settled into their new surroundings. Wanting to get involved in the community they dig up one of grandma’s old recipes for a Christmas cake that brought back fond memories . Never having actually baked the cake before Thelma gives it a try and donates it to be auctioned off for a good cause.
The rest of the story is waiting to be read. If you like Christmas fiction stories or if Amish reading is your genre you will not be disappointed with The Lopsided Christmas Cake . I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend it .
