When unhappily married Fiona Edwards answers the door of her farmhouse bed and breakfast, she discovers a tall man shouldering a hulking backpack. He is unshaven, sweat-soaked…but arrestingly handsome.American Alec Hudson has carried the ashes of his ex-wife from London’s Heathrow Airport to the mountains of North Wales. Honoring her request to scatter them atop the towering mountain directly … directly behind Fiona’s farm, he attempts to fulfill her wish, but the weather stops him.
As Alec waits for safer conditions, he and Fiona are drawn together by loss and by a passion neither thought would ever reappear in their lives. When Alec stumbles upon something he never expected to see, he is faced with a series of choices he hoped never to make.
An evocative story of honorable people struggling with the complexities of fidelity, and of the hope for a second chance at love.

A beautifully descriptive writing style that will carry you along with the characters as they walk through this extraordinary storyline. This is a wonderful read and highly addictive. Do NOT pass up this book! Simply Exceptional…
This is one book you can’t put down.
Loved loved loved this book. I missed the characters after I finished the book. Well written beautiful poignant love story. I will read this again and again.
Was refreshingly different from so many other love stories. Characters are so real. Loved the culture of the region and information about every day life. I definitely recommend it!
Beautiful story. Description of locale and people very realistic and specific. I felt like I was actually there. The story was warm and tastefully written.
You are never too old to fall in love. That is the premise of this charming story of how life can and does change oh, so easily. A well written love story of real life for us of the “older” generation. Heartbreaking and ultimately heartwarming
I’m finding that I like Will North’s Cornwall books very much. This is the only one I’ve read that is a romance, but in an understated, believable subtext to the story’s action.
Really interesting characters. Nice to read a book about middle aged characters.
Loved this book! It was very well written and kept my interest. Loved the characters, the setting and the ending.
An extremely well written book with beautiful descriptions and a different type of storyline. I hated to see it end!
I could not put this book down. I will read more of Mr North’s books on my Kindle!
One of the best well round reads I have had in a along time
A beautiful look at a mature and enduring love of an older couple. The Welsh scenery and uniqueness of the characters enrich this book.
Wonderful book, characters that pull at your heart strings.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book but ended up finishing it up so fast. It was a wonderful story, about life and loss and got me hooked by the first page. Once finished I had to get the other books by Will North, and have not been disappointed yet. Amazing author, with great stories. A must-read for sure.
I enjoyed the wonderful descriptions of Wales, the mountains, the sea, the villages and the people. The story line was both sad and inspiring. As the characters developed, you didn’t get a sense of how the book would end. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and will look for more from this author.
Loved this book. All characters are people you would like to know. Story line and place are moving.
I felt like I was on the sheep farm in Wales with the characters in the story. The lives of the people were so real, honest feelings from the heart.
Could not finish. Boring
This book began wonderfully and described the Welsh countryside and people in an interesting way. The characters were very human and I felt empathy for their situations. Unfortunately, as a moral dilemma unfolded the story was abruptly wrapped up In an unsatisfying way leaving the reader caught short.
