A sweet story of love that has a hard time of being realized due to human error, fate and human pride.
Well developed plot and characters kept me reading as they scale the various obstacles they face.
I recommend the series and the author.
Best childhood friends. A proposal gone wrong. Life continuing on after death only for the dead to return. Can the past be rewritten? There were amazing characters and quite the engaging storyline. It most definitely pulled at my heartstrings.
It is said that “we don’t know what we have until it’s gone” and that is what happened to Arabella. She took his friendship with Jacob for granted.
Jacob takes a wrong decision when Arabella rejected him and that is going to cost him dearly.
A very emotional story about the loss of a beloved one and the hopelessness of it. However, sometimes life gives second chances.
It is well-written and well-developed. It has twists and turns that make impossible to stop reading. The emotions of the characters are so well-written that you can see their pain on their faces on your mind
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
A amazing book about Isabella whose mother would like to see her marry well and to someone with a title.
But the man her mother wants her to marry isnt very nice.
She meets Jacob st ledger and at first laughs when he says he loves her.
Jacob is now back and she realises yes she does love him, but can she convince him of it?
A great romantic book with lot of action packed moments. I love arabellas character and how she stands up for what she believes in.

I loved this story and I love Arabella. Arabella is an example of a strong woman who know her own mind, even when tragedy strikes and dealing with an overbearing mother. I found Jacob to be weak in character. This story shows that Jacob can only stand up for himself with Arabella at his side. She makes him the man he needs to be, especially with his new role as Duke, heir apparent.
This Regency Romance Book was a real pleasure to read with the wonderfully written storyline and the well defined characters that captured my attention from the very first page which made it very difficult to put this book down so I ended up reading this book in one sitting!
It’s a second chance romance with evil, mystery, suspense, a pushy mother, and more. I’m so happy Jacob was alive, but you have to read the tale to see what happens.

The Long Return is one of my favorite Rose Pearson books. The story had me right from the beginning. The characters are so real. I don’t want to tell you about the story became I don’t want to spoil anything. I am sure you will enjoy the story of Arabellla and Jacob and the Earl of Winchester. The twists and turns will keep you riveted. The descriptions of the locations, the balls, the clothes all pull you into the Recency Era. When I was reading this I felt as though I was right there in London with Arabella and her family and friends. You will be surprised a few times but they keep the story exciting. I am giving this Recency romance five stars. Don’t miss this one!

I just finished reading The Long Return: A Regency Romance: The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square (Book 2)
by Rose Pearson. This is the second in the series of separations, returns and reunions. I find this a delightful series so far and highly recommend both books. I totally enjoyed The Long Return. The characters grab the reader’s attention from page one. A misunderstanding separates two long time friends and new lovers. The ups and downs of their ordeals and reunion is most entertaining and dramatic. This is a good, clean, regency read that is most enjoyable for sure. Cannot wait for more from Ms. Pearson.
Intriguing Regency Romance!
Thoroughly enjoyable story depicting the ton and the rocky road to finding true love during the Regency period. The characters are well written, believable and perfect examples of the mindset of that time. I loved the sassy and strong heroine Lady Arabella. Entertaining tale of romance complete with an evil disreputable Lord and nice HEA. Enjoy!
I received an arc copy and am happy to leave my honest review.
A wonderful, well written, Regency novel by Rose Pearson. Misunderstandings, injuries, slights, and the ruthlessness of the TON or Mothers, can not deter true love! This second in the Returning Lords series, can be a stand alone read with an HEA and no cliffhangers.
Good read EXCEPT for the technical issues.
The Long Return is a romance set during the Regency period during The Napoleonic Wars.
Jacob St. Ledger and Arabella Marchmont have been friends since childhood. Jacob has loved Arabella for years. Arabella is fond of Jacob but does not know her true feelings as of yet. Jacob proposes one day and Arabella thinks he is teasing. Brokenhearted, Jacob has his father buy a commission. Jacob leaves, thus rendering Arabella feeling guilty and realizing how much she cares for Jacob. Jacob is then pronounced dead, Arabella is distraught but is forced to move on with her live with the Earl of Winchester.
However, did Jacob really die? Who has been seen back in town? Does Arabella really love the Earl of Winchester?
This is another nice Regency story by Rose Pearson. It was interesting to think of how people viewed wounded solders in that day as opposed to how they are viewed today. Something as small as a limp was an enormous issues to the upper class. It’s also fascinating to think of how much more psychological assistance there is for people who have survived a war as compared to that time period.
My main issues are, as always, technical. I cannot give a higher rating to a book so laden with prepositional errors. It makes the characters literally sound stupid. It becomes extremely frustrating to read, as I am correcting every other sentence in my head to have the characters speak in a manner more in line with the Regency time period. I would challenge the author or editor to find ALL the sentences that incorrectly end with prepositions and re-write them CORRECTLY.
There are also a few other writing issues that confuse me. What, exactly, is a “painful soul”? And there is still too much same word reputation, sometimes even within the same paragraph. To me, that just seems like the author or editor are not paying attention to what is written.
Not a bad book, just not a technically a good book.

I so love the book. It has many moments that made me teary eyed though the plot is quite typical, that of childhood friends turned into lovers. However, it tore me apart when Arabella’s heart got broken of the news that Jacob died. I cannot stop reading not until I was sure that Jacob was alive. Indeed! That is how affected I am of the story.
Lady Arabella Marchmont daughter to the Earl of Blackford is best friends with Lord Jacob St. Leger second son of the Duke of Crestwick. He proposed her and she thought he was joking and told him so and then left him. After she did that he got his father to buy him a pair of colors and went to the Peninsula to join Wellington in the fight against Napoleon. His older brother died and his father wrote for him to come home but for some reason they received a letter back stating that he was dead. Lady Arabella had discovered that she truly loved Jacob and was waiting for him to return to see if he still loved her and her heart broke when she was told he was dead. Jacob was not dead his leg had been wounded with a bullet shot and he was on his way home after about two months when he got home his parents were glad to see him as well is his sister and Arabella. Major problem Arabella’s mother had agreed she was to marry Lord Winchester who was an Earl. When she discovered that Jacob was still alive she didn’t know what to do because she couldn’t marry the Earl but she couldn’t break the engagement so find out what she actually does you need to read the book. It’s a very good book….
The Long Return by Rose Pearson is a wonderful regency romance. This story pulled me in from the beginning and kept me enthralled and entertained until the end. This second chance love story of Arabella and Jacob is filled with many emotions. I enjoy the well developed characters. Some you just love and some you just love to hate. Will it all work out for this couple? Is marriage in their future? Please read this fantastic book to find out!
Initially Jacob is rejected because Arabella mistook his ardour for a joke but the reports of his death caused her to realise that the love she had for him was all encompassing and without his love she would remain a spinster until her mother interfered and forced her to accept another. From that point the story took a completely different unanticipated route involving blackmail, threats, innocents being abused and as a result became quite unputdownable.
I found Jacob to be a bit weak at times and his indecision frustrating but when Arabella was with him they were strong as steel.
I enjoyed this story, I enjoyed the twist in the plot, I enjoyed the characters. Rose Pearson manages to bring the threads of a story together in such a way as to make the reader want to keep reading and find out more and feel sorry that the story has concluded. A great talent in a writer.

This book of Pearson’s was a little different from others I’ve read as both our leads know how they feel for each other and are together early in the book, but there is some added suspense that threatens to keep them apart. A miscommunication makes Arabella believe she has lost Jacob forever, and before things are resolved, her blind to reality mother forces a betrothal to an extremely hateful man in desperation to get her married off….the type of man you would never want your daughter to get near, much less marry, but she only sees him for his title. Things get extremely intense as he will do anything, and I do mean anything, to keep her for herself. You want to just reach into the book and give Jacob a hug as he has some very difficult choices to make and feels he has no way out the situation. You’re going to want some extra reading time so you can get through to the end as fast as possible to see how things turn out.

Book two in The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square is well written and a book that held my interest. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and liked it so much I had to buy it, to read at a later time.
Rose Pearson has written another exquisitely emotional, beautifully romantic Regency tale. Characters range from dutiful heir, to overbearing mother, to two heartbroken and star crossed lovers, one pining, one full of anger and sorrow.

This is a sweet clean romance of a second chance romance. The H/h grew up together. As adults the H found out he was in love with the h. When he proposed she thought he was jesting? He was not. He took his broken heart and joined the Army. Since then the h regretted turning him away as she too realized she was in love with him. There is so much pain and suffering in this story. When the H was declared dead, the h was devastated. Her mother insisted she marry and connected her with a wolf in sheep’s clothing. When the H returned alive everyone was ecstatic. But the h’s mother had already promised her to the wolf. The H thought he no longer had a chance with the h and let her go. The h did not like the wolf and broke up with him. The wolf knew that the h was in love with the H and would do anything and would stoop so low to sabotage their relationship anyway possible. The wolf made good on his threats and endangered many. But how could they fight back? A very good story. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
