The Long Reach is a topical conspiracy thriller and the third novel in the crime series Jonathan Roper investigates. It can be read as a stand alone.
Buy this brilliant page turner today. But be warned, you won’t be able to put it down.

Excellent deceives in Hooley and Roper. Great story line. Interesting deceive novel.
Another really good British detective novel–with an interesting twist.
I am really enjoying this series. I did have some trouble following the prologue and first chapter of this book, but that might have just been me! By the second chapter, the characters fell into place and then I had a hard time putting the book down. Can’t wait for the next book to come out!
This books series has a detective who has Aspbergers Syndrome. He and his partner get involved in a terrorism case.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and especially the character roper.
Liked style.
Great characters and intriguing plot.
The story line is easily believable and that alone should scare the hell out of you !!I The main characters are enjoyable to read about and the story is fast paced and Action packed. REALLY enjoyed that the Author didn’t SEX up this book. I appreciate the authors use of ROPER as a main character
This is the second book I’ve read by the author and it’s better than the first!!
This is a welcome addition to a great series. My only complaint is that they son’t come out more often. It’s an unusual format and the lead characters are great.
This is my second in the series. I’m enjoying the characters as much as the plot.
The best duo in a Britisn detective series, Roper and Hooley are great. Roper and Hooley have learned over the last books, how to work together with mutual respect abd enjoy each others foibles. Their female boss, is smart enough to keep them as a team and it works to her advantage as tget solve major crimes
Roper, on the autism spectrum, has had his share of trouble working with other detectives. But Hooley, older and open minded, sees beyond Roper’s lack of chitchat and learns to understand Roper’s thought process. Both men are feeling the pressure with the news of a dirty bomb and dealing with the British special forces giving them only bits and pieces of information. The fear factor becomes real and just scary as they imagine a radioactive bomb in London and everyone has their own agenda.
The Courier is an odd man and will do about anything to make money’s. At the beginning if the book, all I could think of was his victim to be. ……a young happy mom with a happy husband and good life. And the Courier was being paid to take this woman and kill her, all for someone’s enjoyment.
It seemed like two separate plots but they interconnect and take off. And the cast of good versus evil is played out against the backdrop of England. There is a lot of information and it seemed too much for me, I wanted to speed through to what was going to happen.
Lots of drama and info on the cold war and politics but humor in tense situations helped as in real life. Roper and his new girlfriend and Hooley and his diet and ex wife were discussed and analyzed and I felt as if I was listening to private conversations.
The plot was great but I felt it could have been edited a bit. I was excited when Hooley decided to add to their team with more “outsiders”, skilled people, underutilized perhaps by their lack of people skills. Something I look firward to in their next book.
Loved, loved the first two in the series so read those first
You succeeded, Michael! It was a “page-turning thriller.” Question: How do you manage to keep all those facts straight in your books?
Thanks for highlighting autism.
I will say upfront that I totally love these characters and the way the gel together. It’s brilliant. But I have to agree with another reviewer about the storyline. The earlier part about a young mother seemed pointless. I also agree that the punishment for the villain did not fit the crime.
I still gave it 5 stars as I found it was totally engrossing. So it remains a great read.
