Have you heard the rumor around campus about the locker room?If you haven’t, let me enlighten you: Legend has it if you bring a girl into the sacred after-game domain of the baseball locker room, it will end with a walk down the aisle. One rowdy and naked encounter against the lockers with the girl of your dreams will make her your wife. Translation: baseball players are stupidly superstitious … stupidly superstitious and believe the locker room has magical powers.
But not all baseball players are superstitious, me included.
So when the girl I’ve fallen for brushes me off, I start to question if I need to switch my way of thinking. Maybe it’s time I finally hand out a coveted invitation to the locker room.
The only question is, will she accept?

Ahhhh! I loved this book.
Meghan Quinn is a new to me author. Well she wasn’t new but she was an author I hadn’t read yet, and one I had been saying “I will read her next” and friends kept saying I needed to read her books, and I am kicking myself that I didn’t until now. I was completely taken with this story and Emory and Knox and just how perfectly written they were.
Locker Room had my emotions all over the place if I am honest.
It had . .
Although this book may be classed as a lighthearted sports romance, it certainly still holds a lot of emotions, angst, the push and pull between the two main charcters and some pretty steamy and tender moments shared between them. The story was about letting go of the demons in your past, letting go of all heartache and pain, living your life for what it is now, and thriving for a better future. It was about finding a love you didn’t even know existed, let alone with love you weren’t even looking for at the time.
I cried I will own that… I cried and my heart broke while reading part of this. Everything Emory went through in her past, everything that changed her as a person… and the fact that it changed the way she trusted people, men in particular. Watching her try and get back up on her feet after all the heartache she went through. She swore she would never let anyone in again, that she would keep her heart safe, and away from even more pain… and that was going fine until Knox happened.
Knox was a charmer, to say the least. He was swoon-worthy and I couldn’t help but fall in love with this male lead. He knew there was something different about Emory the moment he met her. He was drawn to her. She was beyond beautiful, she was firey, feisty, full of wit and sass and he was completely smitten. The only problem was that her walls were up, there was no way she was letting someone close to her heart again. She was reserved and guarded. But Knox doesn’t give up that easy. He wants this woman, and only her, and he will do what he has to show her that and it definitely isn’t an easy process.
Will Emory let him in? Will she see what is right in front of her? Will she allow her walls to come down without getting hurt again?
I loved the bond these two had, the chemistry and the way they bounced perfectly off each other. They were two different kinds of people, yet they are perfect. The push and pull was insanely addictive, and the friendship created between the two was amazing. It was a fun read, easy and amazing read. It had me from page one right till the end. Although I shed a tear or two while reading this. I also laughed my ass off 80% of the book.
I treasured this book as I read it and I didn’t want it to end!
5 stars!
Wonderful story.
Loved the storyline and the humour within which is a typical trademark of Meghan I think.
Second chance romance which had me riveted to this book. I genuinely couldn’t put it down.
Cannot believe though that it took Emory and Knox eight years to get back to each other and I’m just glad that Knox was persistent on his last visit to make her listen to him and thank God he eventually pored his heart out in the end because I truly was beginning to get worried.
Brilliant story.
Loved this cute college baseball Rom-com by Meghan Quinn. The witty banter and sizzling hot chemistry between Knox and Emory. I loved the great friendships between all of the character we meet in this book and the true love you see between Emory and Knox. I’m all for a little angst before the HEA but I didn’t love how long they were apart. 8 years is a little much for me and I wish it was a much shorter period of time. But all in all, i adored this book and I’m hoping for a follow up book with some of the other characters. This is definitely a must read.
Move over all you other book boyfriends because Knox has just knocked everyone else off to claim the top stop!
Seriously.
He’s the hot baseball star at his university, and when Emory transfers there after breaking up with her douche-canoe boyfriend, she has a random drunken encounter with him where they actually sleep (as in zzzzz/snooze) in the same bed. Fast forward to her first day of school, and her campus map slaps him in the face, and they discover that they’re in the same class. This is where the wooing of epic proportions begins. Knox flirts with her, she brushes him off. He asks her out, she says no. Knox has fallen for Emory, but she’s still gun shy after being demolished by her first love/prior boyfriend.
This was one of those books where you really wanted to root for him to win, and yet, their past and their futures get in the way. In typical Meghan fashion, there’s hilarity, banter, witty one-liners, and a fondness for snacks. Oreos this time folks!
I really enjoyed this one, and am excited to read about others that were introduced here. Both Knox and Emory have two close friends that are immersed throughout the story, and I know that those tales need to be told!
This was my first Meghan Quinn’s book, and won’t be my last. Emory and Knox’s story is sweet, fun and sexy. Knox is the perfect boyfriend: handsome, mature, caring, protective, and sexy. I love the characters, the storyline, and of course the happy ending. This is the perfect book to add to your Summer Reading List! I enjoyed reading this story, and I highly recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Knox and Emory will knock your socks off! This was such a funny, slow burn, college antics read that I really enjoyed. The locker room is supposed to be a place where a girl goes in and comes out getting married to that certain baseball player. Emory thinks that is crazy but could she be wrong? Knox is a baseball player and never misses a chance to tease Emory. Emory gave as good as she got with Knox. A lovely read.
I’m a sucker for sports romance! I loved baseball playing Knox Gentry, big time! Emory was sweet and a great female lead, the whole waiting premise of the story bugged me because I loved Knox so much though.
About 3/4 in I was frustrated with the timeline, that’s a long time for things to brew but was happy with the outcome. Just wish Emory’s hero complex would have been shorter…
Love Knox, his sweetness, his persistence, his live for Mama G! Secondary characters, I hope to read more about them!
4.5 stars from this devoted Meghan Quinn fan!
After finding her boyfriend of six years in bed with someone else, Emory left California and went to Chicago where her besties were going to school. Now enrolled and starting her junior year at a brand new school, she makes a lasting impression on baseball god, Knox. After turning him down on his offer of lunch, Knox proves to be nothing if not persistent in getting Emory to notice him. But when they finally do begin a casual relationship, will Emory’s past taint what they could have?
I am a little disappointed in how this story played out. I really loved more than half of this story, in fact I would say maybe 80%, and then BAM! The story took a left turn and for the rest of the story I was wondering how we got to this point. Knox and Emory have chemistry that leaves you a bit steamy! With some serious funny bits, steamy naughty times, and some drama, I give this 4 stars.
Meghan Quinn’s The Locker Room both took my breath away and threw me for a loop all at the same time!
Juniors in college, Knox and Emory meet by chance at a party and then again when she is lost on campus looking for her first class as a transfer. Sparks fly and there is an instant connection. But, having just gotten out of a serious and somewhat controlling relationship, Emory isn’t looking for anything more than friendship. Knowing she is the girl for him, Knox takes that friendship and slowly gains her trust and affections and oh so much more!
This couple is truly perfect for one another. Opposites attract, yet two halves to a whole. Emory is so strong, finding her way back to herself and taking the time she needs to heal and be independent. I love that she didn’t just jump into a relationship with Knox because of who he was on campus. Knox is simply an amazing guy. A star athlete and true gentleman, Emory is his first real relationship and he is completely determined to make things work. He is crazy romantic in his efforts to win Emory’s heart and sweet and understanding, taking things slow and giving her the time and space she needs at the same time.
This couple is witty and their banter is hilarious and heartfelt. So, when things go sideways, it was a twist I didn’t seem coming that may have caused a panic attack as I read. My heart hurt for this perfect couple that may not get the happy ever after they both deserved so badly.
The Locker Room was so much more than a college romance in the best of ways. Knox and Emory will leave you breathless and give you all the feels on this emotional roller coaster. 5 stars!
I have long loved Meghan Quinn’s storytelling and I try to grab at any chance to review for the author since I discovered her 4 years ago. The Locker Room is undeniably one of my all-time favorite Meghan Quinn books! WOW, this book consumed me. I truly couldn’t put it down, finishing it the same night I started. And in the best way possible, I found myself on a true rollercoaster of emotions.
…when he smirks and please with those sinfully charming eyes of his, I can’t help but give in. It’s a devilish smirk and a gleam in his eyes, born straight from Satan himself. Knox Gentry is a man who gets what he wants very often.
Meghan’s writing is beautiful and fun, with the perfect level of angst for this dual perspective YA, sports romance that was equally sweet, sexy, and hilarious. The characters are outstanding and unquestionably loveable! I swooned so hard over Knox Gentry… I mean, he’s deliciously sexy, sweet, and smart—the type of guy we all wanted in our lives at one point or another! I just melted with his ‘wooing’ of Emory. And woo her he did, epically! Emory is selfless, spunky, and slightly broken. The last thing she wanted when she started at her new college was to find herself with another guy to hurt her. But Knox isn’t just any guy and soon Emery finds herself again.
…I want her in my life too, and there is an important place for her. Winning Emory Ealson is a necessity, not a challenge. She’s worth it.
The Locker Room was full of sexy but damn, I seriously think Meghan took slow burn to an all new level with Knox and Emory—either that or she was trying very hard to give those of us who read The Locker Room lady blue balls!!!! My heart broke and then was sown back together reading this romance. Much like all of the books I have had the pleasure of reading for this author, I feel like Meghan puts everything into her stories and is truly a fantastic author. I can’t recommend The Locker Room enough—you will unquestionably find yourself as lost in the story as I was! If you’ve never read Meghan Quinn before, you are absolutely missing out! The Locker Room is the perfect opportunity to grab a standalone romance and rectify that fact though, so get to one-clicking!!!!

Knox Gentry is the captain and short stop for the Brentwood College which is well known for increasing your chances of making it to the major leagues. He’s the type of guy that will instantly make you swoon and vie for his attention however that is not the case with Emory. After a terrible breakup Emory transfers to Brentwood where she meets Knox, she’s not looking to get into another relationship but Knox is determined to breakdown her walls in order to have a shot with her.
I just have to say I absolutely LOVED Knox he is the perfect representation of the ultimate book boyfriend and he is totally my pick for the year!! He’s sweet, outgoing, caring, funny and has an amazing relationship with his mom who by the way is absolutely hysterical! There was honestly not a thing I didn’t love about Knox and I can’t imagine anyone else not feeling the same, Meghan Quinn writes the best male characters that I really wish I could live inside her head sometimes. Now that I am done with gushing about Knox lets move on to Emory, she is beautiful inside and out and although she has some hurtles to get over after the damage her ex put her through she truly cares about Knox and wants to make sure that he is able to accomplish his dreams no mater the cost.
This book will bring you through all the best emotions from laughter, to pulling on your heart strings to bushing because of the heat in some of the scenes. If you’re familiar with Meghan Quinn then you know you’re going to be reading a great book and don’t worry there is snack food in this one too even though it isn’t Little Debbie’s lol. If you’ve never read a book by Meghan Quinn before then this one is a great start!!!
Right off the bat (haha, pun intended!) I loved me some Knox Gentry! He knew that Emory was something special and he pursued her. How could she resist his adorable quirkiness and sense of humor. But resist she did…for a while anyway. And it was good for Knox and Emory both to really get to know each other.
I did NOT like the decision that Emory made that impacted both their lives. I understood it, but did not like it. And while I thought there should have been more time spent on the fall out of that decision, it was still a 5 star from me!
This book I highly recommend. I was laughing right from the beginning. I was drawn to this book because Knox is a baseball player. Plus it’s written by Meghan Quinn and you can’t go wrong with a book by her. My favorite thing is the humor and witty banter between Knox and Emory. Their sense of humor matches mine so it’s one of the things I highly enjoyed about the book. This book sucked me in and I could hardly put it down. Knox had me right from the beginning. He is prime book boyfriend material and going on my top list. If you want a book with great characters that instantly pull you in and don’t let you up for air then this is the book. It’s a light fun read.

Okay ladies be prepared for more of this guy on the cover he will make you wish he was really real. Baseball and playing in the majors has always been Knox’s dream until he meets Emory. Have to say Meghan Quinn is a true genius when it comes to well foreplay and making a man want more. This is more than just a man getting into a girls pants but we see one who knows when he has found the one. I loved that these two were so easy to love right away and their teasing was hilarious. I hope there is more like this for Knox really settled into this readers heart and there is one scene that will become a favorite for you with Knox just get the book to find out. Loved it.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
The Locker Room is the best work of Meghan Quinn to date. She has out done herself in delivering a funny, heartfelt story that pulled on my heartstrings and gave me all the feels. I laughed so hard at the witty banter and sarcastic volley between Knox and Emory and cried my eyes out on the angsty roadblocks on their journey to their HEA. The characters were well developed and the writing was smooth. From the beginning to the end I was totally invested into the story.
Knox and Emory were perfect for each other. They were so adorable together and I loved that their relationship was built on the foundation of friendship. The honesty, playfulness and wittiness of their relationship were so refreshing and captivating. I cannot help but rooted for them all along. Their journey was not all rainbows and roses; there were heartbreaks and obstacles. Don’t worry, hearts will be mended with the perfect epilogue.
I absolutely loved this addictive, hilarious, swoony sports romance. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good rom-com with endearing characters and cheeky dialogue that will leave you with all warm and fuzzy feels.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I have to be honest…the idea that a baseball locker room is the ‘holy grail’ and the ‘mecca of all orgasms’ actually makes me cringe, given the amount of sweat, testosterone, and body odor that infiltrates that space on a daily basis, especially given the interesting and sometimes repulsive superstitions that athletes have, but I say that I like the legend behind it when it comes to couples lasting and the idea that a baseball player doesn’t give just any cleat chaser or girlfriend the golden ticket to forever; it’s something that’s earned and it’s something that each player thinks through before he takes that step with the girl he’s with, which is definitely something I can get behind.
Knox Gentry is quite the contradictory hero; he definitely has the cocky jock persona, but that’s only at surface-level, and because Emory challenges him to be more than a player – in ever sense of the word – readers are able to see exactly who Knox is behind the arrogant ass he seems to be. His friendship/relationship with Emory is important to him; she makes him feel things he’s never felt before and he wants to make her a priority in his life, even if his focus should be on baseball and getting drafted to the big leagues.
Emory Ealson already lost herself in one guy who ended up breaking her heart, so I can’t say that I blame her for not wanting to give into her lust for Knox and immediately start a relationship with him. It’s clear that what her ex put her through broke her in ways she can’t even fully articulate, but while she’s hesitant when it comes to her feelings for Knox, she also wears her heart on her sleeve, which makes her irrational at times despite how intelligent and driven she is.
Knox and Emory’s physical relationship may be a slow burn, but it’s clear that their connection matters to them, even if it’s simply as friends. As much as Emory believes she’s a challenge for Knox and nothing more, he proves that despite his need to focus on his obtaining his dream of the pros, they become priorities in each other’s lives, a necessity to their happiness, until everything becomes too overwhelming and difficult.
Even days after I finished Knox & Emory’s story, I’m still not sure how I feel about it, and it’s not because I didn’t like it; in fact, I loved being witness to just how easily Knox and Emory clicked from the beginning, and the fact that they gave each other shit and had such great banter and snarky remarks to one another illustrated that these two had something special from the start. What I struggled with was the decision that Emory made, on her own, and the fact that she refused to see things from Knox’s perspective, which categorically redefined their relationship and their lives for almost a decade.
4 Poison Apples
Knox Gentry is a baseball star at Brentwood University and he is used to being able to get any girl he wants so he is surprised when he continually keeps getting turned down by the new girl on campus. There is a myth with the baseball players that once they invite girls into the Locker Room they will end up in a more serious relationship but Knox isn’t really a believer in that.
Emory Ealson has just come to Brentwood University to be with her two best friends, Dottie and Lindsay, after a bad break up. She is looking to focus on school and avoid relationships at all costs not wanting to go through the pain of heartbreak again.
Slowly Knox and Emory begin a friendship with Knox continually asking Emory out and knowing deep down that he is going to break down her walls! Yet with Knox focusing on the draft will he be able to focus on Emory as well?
Will Emory let her guard down enough to let Knox in and will she be more worried about the future instead of focusing on the present?
Wow – this was such a good book that left my heart broken at times and other times it was filled with love and laughs.
I thought Knox was such an amazing character and I loved that he truly was not after any other woman besides Emory. I loved everything that he did to prove to her that he was ready to do what it took to prove his affection towards her and that nothing was going to stop him from proving himself to her.
Emory was very guarded and I understood why after everything that happened with Neil. Neil was so cruel to her and she needed to repair her heart and also her self-esteem and she needed time to heal. I understood why she was afraid to get involved again but I was crossing my fingers that Knox could prove he was in it for the right reasons.
There was so much chemistry and laughs between the two and it just made me so happy to see how much fun they had together. I loved the scene with the oreos and Knox’s mom!! So many laughs!!
So I was so mad at Emory at the end for making the decision that she did without giving Knox a chance to make it work. I was so beyond frustrated as he loved her so much and would have done whatever he could to make her happy, even with the distance.
The very end was awesome, although I was still a little mad at Emory, and I was so proud of Knox for making her listen to him. I did a huge happy dance and was so giddy with delight!!
I loved the journey that the author takes us on and although my heart definitely got broken a few times she repaired it at the end and I leave on a very happy note!!
I really loved this one overall! I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
First off, can I just gush about how much I love Knox Gentry?!? He was beyond amazing for 98% of the book. I loved how funny, sweet, caring, patient, sexy, etc. he was. And the way he was with Emory (Em) made me swoon so freaking hard. He will be the latest addition to my book boyfriend list for sure.
I also really liked Emory. We were a lot alike in so many ways, and I could easily relate to her. Regarding her friends, I was a little on the fence about them. They seemed great, but they also kind of annoyed me sometimes. Knox’s friends (and the other teammates we saw glimpses of) were fantastic though, and I hope we get at least one more book featuring these characters. This had a twist around 3/4 of the way in, and to be honest, I didn’t love it. I think I would have given this 5 stars if it wasn’t for that.
Just as a general comment, I was expecting more of their families. We saw one phone call with Emory’s mom, and she mentioned calling again, but then there was nothing. Emory and Knox also had a discussion about holiday traditions and her relationship with her sister, but that still wasn’t a lot. We saw a decent amount of Knox’s mom, but not until the book was halfway done, and we didn’t see anything about his brothers except a picture he showed Emory. I hope this author will write many more sports romances in the future, and that they’ll all feature our favorite agent!
A new favorite from Meghan Quinn without a doubt! I freaking LOVED this book! It was everything I desired from a college + sports romance: a cute relationship, super funny characters, all the feels and a really good chemistry (even though this one is kind of a slow burn).
I devoured this book and boy had I missed that feeling. Meghan’s words reeled me in as soon as I started it and she got me laughing out loud soon after too. There were so many funny moments that had me laughing left and right. But this story is not just sunshine and rainbows … although for the most part it’s Knox trying to get the girl to hang out with him on a more than friends level and that’s incredibly fun and entertaining to read, things do get eavy with Emory’s past and the reason she’s so reluctant to go out with Knox and jump into a new relationship.
Knox is just so lovable and trust me you’ll fall at his feet. He is also impossible to resist and persistent in the best way, as much as Emery tries to fight him, he ends up catching her heart real fast. These two are impossibly cute together and the bond they create, first building up a friendship and slowly progressing to more, is beautiful. I honestly swooned so much over these two. They take things slow, even when they start dating and it’s very refreshing and so fun (you’ll see why) but that doesn’t mean they don’t get their rocks on, they sure find some hot and fun ways to work out their sexual frustration. It’s pretty steamy between them.
But we all know the typical issues that come up in college sport romances’ relationships right? Well this one so surprised me because I just didn’t see it coming and it kind of shook me. Not that it was something different but I just literally hadn’t been expecting the story or their relationship to take that turn, specially not when things were starting to get so darn perfect. I guess I wasn’t expecting the other shoe to drop like I should have.
So yeah… our beautiful sweet couple is separated for a couple years (Yup, you read that right) and when they find each other again, all the feelings are still there, the good and the bad, almost as if it all had happened just the day before. It was pretty crazy to see these two characters see each other after so many years and how they reacted to seeing each other after so long. It was pretty crazy and beautiful nevertheless. These two were truly meant to be and I’m happy that even after so long, they both still loved each other as much as before and were able to forgive and move on, together. I just have to point out that this part of the story felt super rushed, I think I needed a little more and they deserved it too after being apart for so long. That’s the only reason why I’m not giving this book a full 5 stars. Because I seriously loved this book and couple with all my heart.
