‘Trisha Ashley writes with remarkable wit and originality – one of the best writers around.’ KATIE FFORDE‘Trisha at her best.’ CAROLE MATTHEWSAlice Rose is a foundling, discovered on the Yorkshire moors above Haworth as a baby. Adopted but then later rejected again by a horrid step-mother, Alice struggles to find a place where she belongs. Only baking – the scent of cinnamon and citrus and the … and citrus and the feel of butter and flour between her fingers – brings a comforting sense of home.
So it seems natural that when she finally decides to return to Haworth, Alice turns to baking again, taking over a run-down little teashop and working to set up an afternoon tea emporium.
Luckily she soon makes friends – including a Grecian god-like neighbour – who help her both set up home and try to solve the mystery of who she is. There are one or two last twists in the dark fairytale of Alice’s life to come . . . but can she find her happily ever after?

Interesting. Intriguing.
She was found as a newborn. She had been stuffed in the rock’s crevice wrapped in a sheepskin on a cold night. She was adopted but knew nothing of her biological family. Now she’s come home to the area where it all began and opened a tearoom in an old cafe. It feels like home. Is it?
Absolutely loved everything about this book!
The title and cover made this look so promising. I wanted to love it so much but it never quite took off for me. The story was interesting and made me want to keep reading, even though I sussed out a lot of details early on. I liked reading about the evolution of the various plot lines and it made me smile at the end.
But I wish I could’ve connected with the characters more. I felt like they wanted to escape and do more, BE more, but it was like they were being held back. Too much of the story was told to me instead of letting me experience it through their actions. I wanted more from them and for them but it just never happened.
I loved the way The author interwove the brontes with a modern heroine who was able to make lemonade every time life handed her a lemon. A good read
This book is a terrific read. I loved the characters, and their stories. The main character was very likable as well as frustrating. But that just made you want to know what happens.
It’s a cute read.
I’d give it more stars if I could.
Very cute story. Fast read , mind candy light and entertaining.
An excellent story with excellent characters set in a beautiful setting. Very realistic and relatable characters. I highly enjoyed this book.
I found this book in a charity shop and took it on holiday to read.
Absolutely loved it, was so gripping from start to end, loved the recipes at the back of the book.
Would definitely reccomend this book to anyone.
This is the first book I have read by Trisha Ashley and she is definitely now among my top faves and I will read my way through all her books! I loved it – medicine for the soul. Funny, beautiful, engrossing, keeps up the pace. This book has been my best friend for the last week. A good chunky book, I went to bed a little earlier every night just because I’d been thinking about the characters all day and couldn’t wait to meet them again and see how they were getting on.Gillian Dance
My new favorite Trisha Ashley book has a setting you’d love to visit and characters you’d love to meet, along with a couple of mysteries and some unexpected twists and turns!
Surprisingly good. Unusual side story of fantasy and unexpected surprise end.
predictable
I’m a Trisha Ashley fan and this book delivers with quirky characters a spunky heroine and a hot somewhat enigmatic hero. Really enjoyed it.
