Monsieur Perdu can prescribe the perfect book for a broken heart. But can he fix his own? Monsieur Perdu calls himself a literary apothecary. From his floating bookstore in a barge on the Seine, he prescribes novels for the hardships of life. Using his intuitive feel for the exact book a reader needs, Perdu mends broken hearts and souls. The only person he can’t seem to heal through literature … heal through literature is himself; he’s still haunted by heartbreak after his great love disappeared. She left him with only a letter, which he has never opened.
After Perdu is finally tempted to read the letter, he hauls anchor and departs on a mission to the south of France, hoping to make peace with his loss and discover the end of the story. Joined by a bestselling but blocked author and a lovelorn Italian chef, Perdu travels along the country’s rivers, dispensing his wisdom and his books, showing that the literary world can take the human soul on a journey to heal itself.
Internationally bestselling and filled with warmth and adventure, The Little Paris Bookshop is a love letter to books, meant for anyone who believes in the power of stories to shape people’s lives.

I read The Little Paris Bookshop in a day abed with a hurting back. I found reference to places we once lived & visited in Paris which helped me forget for awhile that my back had never hurt so badly.
“The LPB” is an easy & entertaining read & will bring the sunshine into your day with its lightness.
Beautiful book with lovely descriptions of Provence. Realistic look at life through the ups & downs of love & loss. Reminds you that life’s joy is to be found in the people around you & the tiny moments. Similar in feel to Chocolate & The Elegance of the Hedgehog.
his was well written but I did not love this book.
It was comforting to follow the journey which Jean took to wholeness.
Clever literary piece with lovely scenery in France. Well written and very enjoyable
This is a great little read. I enjoyed it immensely.
I didnt like this book as a matter of fact I stopped reading it 3/4 of the way threw it which I never do.It was hard to follow a bit bizarre, the characters weren’t likeable.
I enjoyed the pace of the story and the different characters that showed respect and sensitivity toward each other. Nice flow
I absolutely LOVE this book. I’ve re-read it over and over since the first time whenever I need a bit of an escape. It is a beautiful story that starts out funny and a little whimsical and ends up a tearjerker.
beautiful
This book could be an easy light read with a happy ending. But in fact there are a lot of things that keep you thinking after you’re done with the book! Deep in a simple entertaining way!
The title is the best part. The characters are somehow false characters, not very believable. Their actions aren’t very believable either. All of our book club found it sadly very disappointing
This is simply one of my favorite books of the last several years. I usually prefer a female protagonist, but found Monsieur Perdue to be intriguing and interesting. It’s both sad and humorous in places, but it moves toward a positive, powerful ending. He will sell you a book from his barge bookshop, but only if he believes it is the right book for you. He understands everyone’s issues but his own. Until suddenly, he moves forward–literally. Delightful, engaging, and beautifully described settings.
Unfortunately, I was hoping for a more interesting story. I stopped at page 109. I gave it my best shot. I don’t understand why this book is on the best seller list.
This was a terrific book. Very well written with memorable characters and what can happen with missed opportunities. I highly recommend this and her other book too. I can’t wait for her next one!!!!
Like taking a trip to France!
Funny easy read. Wouldn’t we all like to see a book barge?
I enjoyed the book very much but found it was a bit too long without adding anything special to it. I found it amusing, interesting, and a good read up until about page 200 or so. Just the same, I would recommend reading it.
I loved this book!
I personally enjoy books with very strong character development, and this is one. It was similar to “A Man Called Ove” and “The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry” in both story and character development. Easy to read with enough twists and turns to keep me interested.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read, even though it made me cry. This book has wonderfully developed characters, a good plot, and is overall well written. I found this book enchanting.
