Monsieur Perdu can prescribe the perfect book for a broken heart. But can he fix his own? Monsieur Perdu calls himself a literary apothecary. From his floating bookstore in a barge on the Seine, he prescribes novels for the hardships of life. Using his intuitive feel for the exact book a reader needs, Perdu mends broken hearts and souls. The only person he can’t seem to heal through literature … heal through literature is himself; he’s still haunted by heartbreak after his great love disappeared. She left him with only a letter, which he has never opened.
After Perdu is finally tempted to read the letter, he hauls anchor and departs on a mission to the south of France, hoping to make peace with his loss and discover the end of the story. Joined by a bestselling but blocked author and a lovelorn Italian chef, Perdu travels along the country’s rivers, dispensing his wisdom and his books, showing that the literary world can take the human soul on a journey to heal itself.
Internationally bestselling and filled with warmth and adventure, The Little Paris Bookshop is a love letter to books, meant for anyone who believes in the power of stories to shape people’s lives.

Quirky book but very enjoyable.
Just a great read and memorable. Many wonderfully worded comments.
Beautiful writing and very thought provoking.
Boy can this author write characters you can relate to. Wonderful story, bound to make you want to capture and move on from all the things you regret not doing, feeling, saying….
What a wonderful book about…books, a bookstore, music and wonderful characters. I will recommend this to my book club. Loved it.
Unexpected twists & turns kept me enchanted.
I LOVED this book. It was not what I expected, but oh so wonderful! I tried it based on the setting: a bookshop and Paris. I generally read police/detective mysteries or historical fiction. This book is neither. What it is is a journey with a protagonist dealing with love, loss, regret, self-isolation and eventually healing. I read it quickly and just let the emotions wash over me. I’ve never read a book that transmitted universal feelings in such an effective way ,without being maudlin . Wonderfully quirky characters who have their own issues but unwittingly aid each other.
I could connect to the main character a little, but with so many story lines, it made it too difficult to get connected to the rest of the characters and story line. As soon as I start to feel for the characters in one story and think it’s actually going somewhere, it cuts short and goes on to the next ‘port’. A bit weird, and I really didn’t find that the descriptions of anything with the cities or food was all that much as others have said. The interjection of the main character’s initial love interest’s letters were strange and just seemed too random within the story. It wasn’t an enjoyable read, just read it because I felt the need to get to the end.
This book is a sweet mix of sadness, joy, humor, friendship and hope, as the book seller found his way back to love. Beautifully written–I found myself reading it slowly to savor each page.
For me it is somewhere between disappointing and just okay. Maybe from the other reviews I expected too much, but it did not work for me. I have visited in France numerous times and the descriptions of the landscape and villages did not do it justice. The original idea – of moving a barge/used book store thru the French canal/river system toward the Mediterranean coast – was outstanding, but about half way through it got tedious and I did not finish it.
A wonderful story about love, loss, and life. The characters are vivid and unique and they invite the reader on an incredible journey.
Charming….highly recommend!
What this novel lacks in plot it surely makes up for in descriptive details. Rich, vivid presentation of both a physical and emotional journey.
It had promise and the first few chapters were realing me in but after that it was just not keeping me awake.
Nina George has written a deep & profound exploration of loss & grieving, and the journey to a happy ending.
Beautifully written and so descriptive, one could almost smell the river, feel the wind touch the trees, crawl into the heart, mind of the subject. Really loved that book.
Thoroughly. Enjoying
Interesting take on people.
This story is so inspiring I wanted to own a book shop on a barge on the Seine.
Foreign location intrigues me. I love bookstores, so I loved it. Great characters.
