I’ve read several books by this Author and this one didn’t disappoint. Lila didn’t know anything about celebrating Christmas and took a trip to find out about it. The animals were warm and welcoming and helped her understand. The illustrations are great and I would recommend this book to parents of new readers.

This is a cute story that gives a non-faith-based view of what Christmas is all about. That being said it encourages love and friendship. The pictures match the story and are very well done with lots of color. It’s a quick easy fun read.

A sweet and enjoyable book for children and the meaning of Christmas. The illustrations were wonderful, and captured the spirit of the book. Still, I’d prefer if it was more focussed on the message of friendship and family, as well as references to the religious aspect of the Christmas holiday.

a cut story to read to little ones about what Christmas is. It is good on its surface but if you want your child to know about God, and Jesus and the Christian point of view of Christmas this is not the book for you. If you want to keep those things out of it then it is one you want.

Great illustrations and story
This is a beautifully illustrated book that teaches children about Christmas, and about friendship. This story is amazingly told and the children I work with loved it. I can highly recommend this book.

The Little Llama Learns About Christmas is a cute story with adorable illustrations. I’m not sure Little Llama really learned a lot about Christmas, but I enjoyed it anyway.

Lila the little llama heard about a thing called Christmas. She goes to the north to find out what Christmas is all about. She meets new friends and they give her ideas. The illustrations are beautifully done, cute and very appealing for children. The storyline and language is appropriate for the target group. The ideas of friendship, love and relationships were heart warming. The feelings of Christmas were nicely added to the storyline. It is a non religious book so be aware it does not tell about the birth of Christ. This is for book for everyone who enjoys the spirit that the holiday is about. It is a charming children’s book.

As a preschool teacher, I have read many picture books to young children over the span of my teaching career. I am always looking for more books that I can share with the children in my life and was excited to hear about this christmas book. I loved the illustrations – they are fun, vibrant and fully inviting for the target audience. The characters were cute as well and could be relatable to the children and their previous experiences. I just wish that the focus of the story wasn’t solely on the presents and candy, but more about spending the time with loved ones and how important it is to be kind to each other. I didn’t mind that there wasn’t any mention of religion, as not everyone has the same philosophy over the holiday period, making this book a good choice for anyone that wishes to include their own family traditions into the book.
The Little Llama Learns About Christmas – This is my first book by this author and I am disappointed with the author’s definition of Christmas.
While is artwork is beautiful, which we enjoyed immensely, my grandkids (3 – 5 – 9) and I were disappointed with how Christmas was defined and had a discussion about it.
The message is partially correct, it is a time for family and friends, and gathering around the tree and exchanging gifts. The true meaning of Christmas, according to this author, is commercial, not spiritual. Yes, the Hallmark card feelings are there, but pagan style AKA “modern”.
My grandkids loved the artwork but did not like that God and angels were not part of the story. We will not be reading this author again nor will we be sharing this story with the rest of the family.
I found this book on Booksprout. The beautiful artwork deserves five stars, but the partially correct message only gets one star. 2*
That’s her Auntie Lyn, not her auntie Lyn, (more “modernism” – disrespect for family).
