The Little Lies We Hide – Wow, the emotions that explode throughout this book; each page filled with emotion that run the gamut: hate; fear; love; desire; revenge; etcetera. I could not put the book down. I was lost in this family; their history, their fights, their doubts, their love. Plenty of surprises blended into the drama as their story unfolds.
The talented and master of his craft Mr. Houle does such wonderful storytelling, so filled with emotions and love, the reader cannot help but be immersed in the lives of the characters and hope for successful outcomes.
Interesting storylines, wonderful characters, mesmerizing writing style, if you enjoyed The Notebook by Sparks, or any of his other books, you will enjoy Houle.
Mr. Houle generously shared his love by giving me a copy of this heartbreaking and heartwarming novel. 5*
We Became Us (#1 – Trilogy) – The first book in a trilogy of love and heartbreak but also just as heartwarming and mesmerizing. Mathieu and Lori-Anne, their journeys, fill this novella with love and new beginnings.
The characters are well developed and the storylines are well thought out. The descriptions by this talented storyteller weave a rich tapestry for the reader to get lost in the pages. 4*
Broken Hearts (#2 – Trilogy) – This story is more about Nadia and Caitlin and their relationship and ends where It Happened to Us starts. The story We Became Us, a prequel, should be read before either BH or IHTU.
While I do not care for young teen stories, Mr. Houle is such an interesting writer that the subject does not matter. The reader will be immersed in a story that is on par with any book by Sparks.
Mr. Houle’s books are well written with well thought out storylines. The characters are so well developed the reader knows them, on the page and in real life. The emotions in his stories run the gamut and the reader feels every joy, every tear, everything. My favorite so far is Beautiful Midnight, be sure to add it to your must read list, but I look forward to every book from this talented storyteller. 4*
Beautiful Midnight – This is my first read by this author and I loved it. A beautiful story that is heartwarming and heartbreaking on so many levels. The storylines are told through the past and the present. There’s a variety of characters that range from likable to lovable to despicable, and their lives are realistically portrayed.
The depth of the story is enhanced by the courage, determination, loss, suffering, love, abandonment, fears and the journeys traveled. The emotions run the gamut from happiness to tears.
The above along with the vivid descriptions that clearly immerses the reader in the story and makes it difficult to stop reading. This well written book is better edited than usual for nowadays with only a few minor corrections needed, which do not distract from the story. I contacted the author to review his books. 5*
This was a sad, complex, intricate, but inspiring story of a dysfunctional family that will stick with me for awhile. I was pleased with how the family stuck together and worked through the tragic circumstances they found themselves in, I felt inspired with the growth they experienced through it all, and I was very satisfied with the ending. Houle is an excellent storyteller, and I look forward to reading more of his books in the future. I received an advanced copy from the author through Booksprout (many thanks), and these opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed the book. It is not my usual genre; but, was a really good read.
Told over the course of two days, this story looks at family and the lies and secrets we keep. whether it be a small lie or a big secret that eventually changes someone life and make others a misery. When Bradley’s mother dies, he is forced to return home, a place he has avoided for over 18 years. But everything has changed, his dad doesn’t recognize him and old hurts are brought up again, his brother and his relationship is still as stormy and hateful as when they were kids. But there is more people in the story, his sister Emily who is now a strong woman and not the kid he left behind, and Cassandra his old friend and ghost. But with his girlfriend Kate asking him to marry her, and his old life pulling in another direction, will this trip home be the end or the beginning.
