This book has been on my “to be read” list for a while now. As I continued adding titles to my TBR list, this novel moved further down. Until last night (October 26).
Kiersten Modglin is a fantastic author who has penned over 20 novels so far in her career. She is a wife and a momma, and a genuinely kind soul. Her talent and passion for writing are evident in all of her work. And she can tell a story that will make your heart race, make your blood run cold, and make you question whether you locked your front door.
Persistence. Forgiveness. Determination. Revenge.
This twisted tale introduces us to Jordyn and Connor, a young married couple preparing to move because Connor has been transferred. Seems innocent enough, right? They find the perfect house for their growing family and settle in. Very quickly, things take a turn for the mysterious. As newcomers to a small town, Jordyn witnesses an emotional scene in the grocery store that leaves her with questions. Questions no one will answer and questions with answers no one wants Jordyn to discover.
The twists in The List are intense! Classic Modglin, this twisted tale, is filled with secrets, suspense, and a powerhouse of strong female characters. The women in this novel are genuinely badass; there is no more straightforward way to say it. These women are strong, smart, brave, determined, and unstoppable. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Jordyn, our main narrator, and her persistence in getting to the bottom of the mysterious deaths that have haunted Bates for the past ten years.
There are so many themes within this novel that just hit you in the heart. The biggest one for me is Jordyn making an impossible choice despite her initial gut instinct. Being a good person and doing the right thing is a shade of gray, but it becomes a shining white light within these pages.
This book is so well written, the story is scary and suspenseful, and it is filled with characters you can’t help but like. Unlike Santa’s list, you do not want to find your name on The List. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
Once again I find myself writing a review for this author completely stomped. People are dying. No scratch that, children are dying. She saw the list. She remembers the names. Why are they saying it was an accident? Why isn’t anyone worried or doing anything? Jordyn is happily married with a baby on the way. He husband wants her to find them a home and they agree upon Bates. This is the dream right?! The baby, the husband, the beautiful home, an adorable small town, all nice and safe. Nothing is what it seems. Everyone is afraid. People aren’t friendly. This isn’t what she imagined small town living would be. It isn’t. It’s a nightmare. People will die. Secrets will be revealed. No one can be trusted. He sees it all. He knows everything. He’s the maker of the list.
The entire time I was reading this I tried to work it out. I love that Jordyn didn’t back down no matter what the threat. Her and Carrie soldiered through to find answers. This author just makes my brain go into overdrive every time I read her books. I love how she does a switch on you and leads you in circles with her twist. Awesome read.
This one I have to say is a little different than the ones I have been reading from Kiersten. It is still a psychological thriller but this one has more emotions in it than some of the other ones. Great storyline from beginning to end. The ending of this one shocked me to the core. I did not see that coming at all. There was absolutely no hint at all that the person doing the horrible things in this one was that person. It was a game changer.
Connor and Jordan decide to move to Bates and start their family. Bates is a small town where people with children and not welcome. But Henry the person selling the house does not know about Jordan being pregnant until they arrive and by that time it is to late. Strange things are happening in this little town. Every six months for 10 years a list comes out. This list has six names on it and the people on the list are affected. Jordan learns about this list and tries to figure out what is going on but Connor makes her think that she is crazy. What will happen to Jordan and her baby? What will happen to all the people in this town?
It was a great storyline full of twists and turns. A lot of it you don’t see coming. But that is what makes the storyline enjoyable. I absolutely loved Jordan she will so strong through the whole book. She was determined to make something happen and get what is going on to stop. She never once gave up no matter what anyone else said especially her husband.
This is another great book from Kiersten.
After devouring The Roommate I grabbed this one and read it in a day. The tragedy and mystery in Bates, SC was something that both shocked and horrified.
This book haunted me, it was amazing and I hadn’t even returned it before grabbing another book from Kiersten.
I am thoroughly enjoying each one of Keirsten Modglin’s books. Once I pick them up and start reading, I have been reading obsessively. I am really picky about the books I am able to read. I have ADHD and if a book gets boring, characters which don’t “pop” off the page or for some other interest don’t hold my interest, I stop reading the book.
The List is another fantastic book by this wonderful author. The characters are well developed, the ending was a surprise and it is an absolute page-turner. I finished this book within 24 hours.
Wow, the mind was blown by that talented writing of Kiersten Modglin. This lady sure can get you addicted and drawn into the book if the first few pages. The List left me speechless!
The List is about a couple that moves to a small town that is controlled by a killer. Jordyn decides that she has to do something before any more horrible things happening. The characters were wonderful and the plot definitely held my interest. The writing style is so smooth, readable and the story entices you just to read one more page until the last page is turned. I highly recommend this book.
This book was so intense, it grabs you and doesn’t let go. You feel like you’re right there with Jordyn, trying to figure out who is behind all of this craziness. It absolutely had my mind working. Then when I seen who… I was in total shock! It was a amazing read, that will keep you on your toes. It’s crammed packed of every emotion: anger, fear, and sadness
An all consuming, thrilling and suspenseful read! This novel is packed full of twists and surprising outcomes. The characters blew me away in this novel.
