A murdered pharaoh. An evil sorceress. And three lion shifter kings. Sanura would do whatever it took to be the next queen of Egypt – even if it meant marrying her younger half-brother and waging war on all of Africa. But when the pharaoh is murdered and Sanura blamed for the crime, she barely escapes the city with her life. With nothing and no one to help her, Sanura finds herself at the mercy … finds herself at the mercy of a lion shifter African king. One of Egypt’s sworn enemies. A man who would be better off with her dead.
And he’s not the only lion king she needs to worry about.
THE LIONESS OF EGYPT is the first full-length reverse harem historical fantasy book in the SHIFTERS OF AFRICA trilogy.

I can see great things for this series
Sanura, eldest child of the Pharoh, rescued a slave girl from an abusive master and deals her future with that one act of kindness. As the story progresses tragedy strikes, betrayal comes from unexpected sources, and finding a new path in life is the only way she will survive. The Lioness of Egypt is a nice start to this paranormal reverse harem series. We are introduced to the significant characters and events in this book, I can see great things for the series of Leigh Anderson and Alice Wilde continue to bring this level of action and romance.
She would do anything to be the next queen but she is blamed for murder. She escapes barely, then she meets a lion shifted who will want her dead. He is not the only one. Can she survive? Can she ecsape? See how she gets on

I loved this book. The characters are amazing and the world building is extraordinary. Sanura is the daughter of the Pharoah and is accused of his death. She is transported across the desert to Africa where 3 lion shifter kings live. They could be the way for her to return to Egypt to marry her brother and become Queen. She just has to convince them to help her wrest control of Egypt from an evil sorceress. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I read this book in one sitting and I am sure I will do the same with the next. This book is action-packed and steaming hot.

I don’t know if anything about the setting was historically accurate or not, but it felt like a real place with real people. I enjoyed for Sanura as her story began. It’s a little bit of a slow burn compared to other reverse harems I’ve read, but I’m certainly interested in seeing how things develop further in the future.

This is powerful read that is captivating from the beginning and only sets better. I love that Sanura is depicted a head strong, kick butt woman. The history and customs especially at the beginning was illustrated beautifully. The only thing was the POV was hard to discern in the very beginning.

A very well done book. The authors took their time building this world and have done a good job in my eyes. I have re-read this book twice and love it so far. What is nice that this boo has everything in it, magic, murder and what not to entertain and this book sure does that.

The cover is what attracted my attention, and not because it was a reverse harem story…although, I do enjoy reading those too.
When I was younger I loved all the history, mystery, and majestic beauty of Egypt.
(I really wanted to be an archaeologist when I grew up, but I hate creepy crawlys…lol)
I watched everything that came out on National Geographic, The History Channel, Discovery, and many more about the subject.
I also loved the fiction movies as well.
We even had an Egyptian Museum near us that we visited a few times, and the piece de resistance…I stood in line for hours to get tickets to view the King Tut exhibit. It was AMAZING!
So, to say I was excited to read a paranormal shifter story with a historic Egyptian flair was putting it mildly.
Then why just the “okay” header?
Well, yes, the story is set in Egypt that’s true and there is a good physical world building around that, but instead of trying to use the lingual terms of that time the authors just went with a modern script and in my opinion it kind of ruined the story.
There is a great cast of characters but they seriously lack any kind of chemistry, which was very disappointing.
I would have quit reading about halfway through the book , but since I was reading for a review I continued on.
It did not get any better and it is a three part series as each King gets his own book.
I will not be reading the rest.
Happy Reading:)

The plot and characters were interesting. It held my attention and had me wondering what would happen next. There was something missing. It is a novella, but it felt shorter. It is interesting enough to want to know what happens next, but it was lacking. The reverse harem aspect appears to be spread throughout the series. Each book seems like it will end in a cliffhanger, but it does leave me interested in what happens next.
