Four adventurers step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia, a land enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But … Narnia, a land enslaved by the power of the White Witch. If I could only choose one book to take with me on a deserted island, this book might be the one – of course, to be fair, I’d really need to take the entire series. But, this book has everything- family, suspense, history, symbolism, magic, escapism, good vs. evil, love, forgiveness, and in the end- hope. And on a deserted island, hope is …
As part of a Children’s Book Readathon on my blog, we voted and are reading some classic young adult novels this week. Come join us! Today’s review is The Lion, the Witch and the Wardobe/The Chronicles of Narnia 6 Vols, the 2nd book in the Chronicles of Narnia series, by C.S. Lewis. I read this book as a child several times, then again as an adult …
This book is one of my favorites in this series. Even if you aren’t a religious person, this book shows a lot about the power of believing in something. Also, I love the relationships between the animals and the siblings.
The beginning of a magical saga that is an allegory for the life of Jesus Christ and His mission–and ours as His followers. The Chronicles of Narnia are a must-read for followers of Christ as well as for lovers of fantasy.
I was first exposed to this book through a 6th grade teacher who read from them for our class. Of course, long after the class, I re-read this book as well as the others in the series. This is the beginning of the Chronicles of Narnia, with the creation of the world, the first appearance of the Lion, and the beginning of the villain who would …
What is a book that is worth rereading?
The Chronicles of Narnia is definitely worth rereading! My favorite is the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe but all the others are great too.

THEY OPEN A DOOR AND ENTER A WORLD
Narnia…a land frozen in eternal winter…a country waiting to be set free.
Four adventurers step through a wardrobe door and into the land of Narnia–a land enslaved by the power of the White Witch. But …
One of my all time favorite Winter reads. I love the characters and the realistic interactions between siblings, as well as the individuality of each one, with none of them being perfect. Lucy’s love of adventure is a good contrast with Susan’s gentleness, and each is exemplified as womanly attributes. Peter’s courage and sense of chivalry is a …
It’s really one of my favorite books! If you bave read 2 chapters, you can’t stop anymore! Thanks C.S. Lewis for writing this good book. Narnia is beautyfull!
A true classic. One of those books where, as book critic Clifton Fadiman phrased it, “The words are for children but the meaning is for adults.” The entire series is wonderful!
Charming. That is the word I would use to describe C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. And I don’t mean charming in the dry, pretentious way people use it to demean the depth of something. This novel is charming in a wondrous, magical, beautiful way.
This novel has always been an important one to me. When I was in elementary …
This is a wonderfully told allegory of the story of Jesus. It is packed full of meaning, grace, forgiveness and wonder. This book was originally the first in the series, before it was pre-empted by the Magician’s Nephew. However, everything about this book is memorable. Narnia, the creatures of Narnia, the children, and especially Aslan. If you …
I love to read this at Christmas time. Always winter and never Christmas, that’s the description of Narnia under the rule of the White Witch. And I love when her grip starts to weaken and Father Christmas finally comes to bring everyone presents.
I think I should reread this. It has been so long.
It’s a really good book and my favorite part is when they find the wardrobe and they are so confused
A must-read classic. I’ve both read the book and listened to it on Audible with the kids for homeschool. I can’t recommend this book (truly the whole series for that matter) enough.
This is the book that began it all, although by some fateful chance the first book I read in this series was the chronological first, i.e., the magician’s nephew.
It’s a great book to read in leisure time. Every chapter is enthralling and full of interest.
Another wonderful book to add to my list of favorite reads
Absolute childhood favorite, and have read this series many times, but this particular book holds a special place in my heart. It’s full of adventure, magic, and the whole family dynamic is relatable to anyone with siblings. :). Throw in the amazing faith message, and you have a story that not only entertains, but reaches the heart. I know it …
