This whole series by C.S. Lewis is classic inspirational literature. From the moment the 4 children step through the wardrobe into Narnia, I was captivated by the characters, the action, and the obvious relationship to the life and teachings of Jesus, right down to his final sacrifice on the cross. I’ve read this one several times and never fail …
A must read for both children and adults.
My First Trip to Narnia, and Still My Favorite in the Series
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy have been sent to live with a professor in the country during the London air-raids. While exploring the large house, Lucy finds that the wardrobe in the spare room transports her to the magical land of Narnia. The country is under the spell of a terrible …
This book made me fall in love with reading. It opened the world of imagination for me as a kid and and how something as simple as wardrobe can be so magical.
5 stars. This is a true classic. As C.S. Lewis writes to his goddaughter, “…some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.” That quote rings true to me, as it does to so many others I have encountered. I read “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and watched the Narnia films as a child. It was just as magical, maybe even …
My mom used to read to me when I was little. I’d curl up beside her while I embroidered pictures and patterns on a tattered old pair of my jeans… and the Chronicles of Narnia stands out foremost in my mind when I think of these memories.
I grew up in church, so I knew about Jesus. But I really felt like I was introduced to him in the character of …
I was gifted the box set of the Chronicles of Narnia as a boy, perhaps 20-25 years ago now. Presently, I am just over halfway through the box set as I read aloud to my 10/G and 7/B. These books are so wonderful to read with the family, so imaginitive, so pure and full of purpose and goodness. They are some of the best books you will ever find …
One of my favorites as both a child and as an adult. Story reads as a fun fantasy on one level and a Christian allegory on the other, both at the same time!
Classic, simply beautiful, but still profound
A great book for children and youth and adults alike. A mix of reality and fantasy and inspiration that only C.S. Lewis could pull off !!
Truly a classic among the series. Strong Christian themes! Truly another world once you start reading
The description of the characters are in detailed and the story is very imaginative & interesting to read
Only my FAVE children’s book of all time. The richness of the world never fails to amaze and inspire me. I doubt any booklover hasn’t read this one yet. I strongly recommend reading the book before watching the movie.
I don’t have wonderful childhood memories involving Narnia like some people do—although I certainly heard about the series from other friends as I grew up (and, invariably, was able to shock them with my lack of knowledge about them!). But recently, when I saw friends had the complete boxed set of the books, I decided to borrow them to see what I …
Just as magical reading this out loud to my youngest daughter now as it was when i read it as a child years ago.
What can I say about this book that hasn’t been said? Sure the Christian allegory is a bit heavy handed at times and I’m not a fan of how often women are overlooked, but this is at least the fifth or sixth time I’ve read this book in my life and I understand clearly why I fell in love with it when I was a kid, why it’s a book I still love, and …
5/5 would highly recommend and very understandable to read!
This was the only one I liked. I read it when I was little and once again when I was older. Maybe I should try again now that I’m older still, on all the rest of the books in this series.
I read this book to our 14-year-old son and he rated it four out of five stars. (I had previously rated it three.) He has seen the movie, and we recently …
I think that this is the best book in the Chronicles of Narnia series. It gives a beautiful picture of the love of Christ and of redemption. Lewis chose well when he wrote Aslan as a lion, for Aslan is a beautiful and majestic creature who is a fair and just ruler of Narnia.
Oh my gosh, I love this book! It is very unpredictable but it has amazing characters and an terrific plot! I really like Narnia and how the author make’s us wonder around every turn. This is one of my fave reads! The movie is also very good, a must watch and read!
