Want to know a secret? It’s about that girl over there.Don’t look, but she’s the one in the power suit—with the long, black hair and the serious expression, the one I’m about to go on a date with . . .Yeah, according to her, she “accidentally” donated an obscene amount of money to my charity — The Lineup — to win said date but I found out the truth. Miss. Button Up Blouse has a secret, passionate … has a secret, passionate crush on me.
I didn’t know her name until two days ago, despite the friends we have in common.
Was I oblivious? Probably.
Was I blind to it? Definitely.
But I’m no fool, I see it now. The High Heel Harlot wants more than just a date with Jason Orson, she wants to be able to claim the best butt in baseball as hers.
Here’s another secret . . . she has no idea I know.

This book is a stand alone, but it is along the lines of The Locker Room. But the guys aren’t in college anymore. They’re in the big league now.
This is Jason’s book. Jason just got traded to Chicago Rebels. He’s back home, but not with the team he wanted and has loved since he was a kid, or the team his friends play for.
The things that come out of his mouth had me laughing so damn hard. I absolutely love this big, giant, softy.
Now, Dottie took a little for me to warm up to. She does tend to have a stick up her butt.
But Jason brings her fun side out!
This is a fun baseball read. And I love the charity that Jason started.
Can’t wait for more.
I’m wondering if it will be Natalie and Walker…hmmm.
HANDS DOWN one of the best ROMCOMs I’ve EVER read!
Meghan Quinn just did it again….making me fall for these hot as sin baseball players. I have a weakness for baseball players and this is the 3rd one she’s gotten me to fall for.
Here’s a tidbit of honesty for you though…Jason Orson is hands down my favorite. He’s sweet, considerate, hilarious and although slightly annoying in the most adorable way…I LOVE HIM! Let me tell you though, its a game changer when it comes to the bedroom. HOLY SMOKES WOMAN!!! Every woman’s fantasy!
Dottie Domico is jaded and cautious when it comes to any male in her life. After experiences with exes, she puts her work first and everything else on the back burner until Jason appears on the scene. The two ran in the same circles during their college years, and although they had mutual friends; they never actually knew each other. Those circles certainly afforded her the opportunity to develop quite the crush on him though. Jason has his work cut out for him, after seeing how she handles him at the first meeting. It’s so comical…legit ALL OF IT! The entire journey of Dottie and Jason is my favorite in this world. That’s hard to admit because all of these books are just amazing but Jason & Dottie stole my heart.
Sitting out back reading my morning coffee and reading this book, when a cluster of scenes have me laughing so hard and so loud I scared the neighbors dog.
Meghan Quinn is one of my go to authors for so many different subgenres of romance books. I’ve loved everything I’ve ever read of hers and have made it my mission to read as much of her backlist as I can.
The Lineup was indeed an romantic comedy that melted my heart. This is book 3 in the brentwood baseball series and It was sweet, angsty, heartfelt, and hilarious. With funny scenes and amazing dialogues this slow burn romance between Jason and Dottie will have you hooked from beginning to end. The chemistry between them was intense and undeniable. This was an entertaining read and a great addition to the series. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to lovers of sports romance.
Oh Meghan Quinn, How I love thee, let me count the ways….
Gifted writer of swoon worthy men and the woman who tame them.
Storyteller of magical worlds filled with said men and woman that have you reading until you can read no more.
Giver of Book Boyfriends that will own your heart forever and a day and the unapologetic sassy women who make you cheer for them.
Provider of stories that are full of humor, off the charts chemistry, heat, and glorious sexy times.
And last but certainly not least,
Owner of my Book Loving Soul because with every book you write you prove to me that you are the best at what you do and for that I say Thank You.
What more can I say other than, Jason and Dottie’s story is yet another example of all of the above and needs to be added to your TBR list right away, so that you too, can fully appreciate the wonder that is a Meghan Quinn romance.
(I read an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review).
5 stars plus
Outstanding romantic comedy!
So much witty banter, great characters and a storyline that will hook your attention!
Jason Orson is something else entirely! Sensitive, incredibly funny as well as hot but also deep down a really beautiful caring man! When he opens his mouth the funniest things come out and the way he riles Dottie up is hilarious! Its amazing to see how they really get along despite some tension!
Seriously this book was the BEST Rom Com!
I laughed so hard I had tears, I was smiling so much while reading and when there was some sad parts, I definitely shed some tears!
This is a definite must 1-click and my favourite of the series! The author should be incredibly proud of what beautiful words she has written! I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next!
Romantic Comedy at its best and I’m going to say a must read for all lovers of romance, sports romance and rom-coms . Meghan Quinn is one of the best writers in this genre and I’m sure like me you will be captivated by Jason Orson and Dottie’s story …….because it’s one of a kind, it’s the kind of story that draws you in, makes you laugh and has you falling head over heels for the hero.
Jason is a man we would all love to have by our sides, he is caring, kind, sensitive with an amazing sense of humour and once he decides he wants Dottie there is no stopping him, funny thing is while he is trying his best to woo her what comes out of his mouth ends up winding her up in the most comical of ways. Sizzling chemistry but is it lust or is it love …..
This book ticked all my boxes, I laughed, I swooned and at times I shed a tear as I joined this couple on their journey. The banter is hilarious and the softer side we see in Jason is heartwarming, a book I’m sure I will read over and over because it has a story I will never grow tired off. What’s next from this very talented author who knows, it’s going to be hard to top The Lineup but if anyone can do it Megan Quinn can…..looking forward to what’s next
Ahhh a baseball player in tight pants (her college crush) and a slow-burn that pays off The latest rom-com offering from Meghan Quinn is here and live in KU!
5 stars for The Lineup by Meghan Quinn. This is a standalone romantic comedy. I received an ARC of this book in exchange of an honest review. All opinions stated in this review are my own. I am a huge fan of Meghan Quinn and this book did not disappoint. Just when I think she can’t top a book, here she comes with a new one and bam it’s better than the last. Jason is a man that every woman would love to have. He had me swooning from the Prologue all the way till the end. This book had me laughing, smiling, and swooning. Jason and Dottie have a relationship that couples strive to have. I love how Meghan tells us the story of Jason and Dottie. It is amazing how she writes, and it allows us the reader to feel so invested and feel the chemistry in her characters relationships. This book is fantastic, and I think Jason might have just became my favorite of Meghan’s heroes.
This was such a great read, one that enjoyed from start to finish. It was chock-full of everything that I’ve come to expect from Meghan Quinn–her quirky brand of humor, heart, and heat plus a pinch of angst to keep readers like me on our toes. Jason and Dottie seemed like opposites, but his pursuit of her wasn’t something out of sport. I loved the connection they shared, and their relationship was super sweet and they were simply endearing. Now, Knox Gentry and Carson Stone were difficult acts to follow, but Jason Orson more than kept up. I swear, he was just such a great guy, and he was THIS close to knocking Knox off top spot (but he’s STILL holding on!). How Dottie held off for as long as she did surprised me because Jason was a sweetheart and a half. Maybe I should dub him The Woo Master. The Lineup lived up to my lofty expectations and gets 4.5 stars, but now I need more from this world!
FLOVED IT!!!
I effin’ loved this book! Out of all of Meghan’s books I have to say that Jason Orson is my all-time favorite character. Ms. Quinn never disappoints. All her books are so well written with lots of humor, romance, and HEAT and this one did not disappoint! I FLOVED every minute. Great read!
4.5 stars!
Jason is such a hoot! Honestly, he left me speechless sometimes. Some of the things that come out of his mouth…. I just can’t. But, I do enjoy a guy that wears his heart on his sleeve and lets his emotions flow. Jason is that guy for sure. I just laughed and laughed when he would talk with Knox and Carson….
Dottie is an equally compelling character and just the right fit for Jason. I like a tough heroine who doesn’t put up with anyone’s crap.
I could read these baseball stories forever. 🙂
Jason is a hoot!
My first book ever where I can only describe the guy as Sassy. How refreshing, I loved Jason, boy did this guy make me laugh.
I can’t say I saw Jason as hot or sexy, this was something new for me. Jason reminded me of a stereotype gay guy or the camp man friend who is one of the girl’s.
Jason’s comments and ways had me How long with laughter he’s annoying yet cute, basically he’s a little bit marmite.
Jason though despite his ways is very much straight, very much a hot blooded male but also very much in touch with his feminine side. He’s the most unusual unmanly baseball player I have ever read about.
Dottie is the complete opposite to Jason, she’s serious, a power business woman leading a multi million company, she doesn’t have time to date, Dottie is all work, work, work and downs her tools for the occasional girl time, One of Dottie’s friends is Emory who is in a relationship with Knox, their story is in THE LOCKER ROOM.
I loved how this mismatched pair came together, I loved the roller coaster of it all leading to the heartwarming hea.
THE LINE UP is a great addition to the series, each book has me looking forward to whoever’s story may come next.
Told in first person.
Loved it, loved Jason and Dottie and can’t wait for more.
Oh Yeah! Quinn is batting a thousand with this latest book in her Baseball heroes! She has covered all the bases with angst, laughs – so many laughs, but also compassion, tenderness and understanding. I personally feel this has the same vibe I got from The Mother Road, classic Quinn brilliance.
Jason and Dottie are in a league of their own and right of the bat I loved Jason, hard! He is quirky, but oh so loveable. I cherished the way he looked at life and his sensitive side but he could also turn into a bear fighting machine when needed. He wasn’t all soft and cuddly, he definitely could take control at the appropriate moments. Dottie was a witchy wench, but in a good way. She, like Jason, had been burnt before with relationships, so work was her dominate calling until Jason walks back into her life. Some would say that Jason is not in Dottie’s league, but he pulls out all the stops and at one point, it was like Dottie sent him down to the minors as he tried his hardest to win her over. Of course, watching this all unfold from the bleachers was the gang from college that now all live in Chicago and the guys playing for the opposing team. Knox and Emory from The Locker Room live right across the hall. Carson and Milly from The Dugout are not far away.
There are a few curveballs that impede this couple but with persistence from both of them, it is bought home with a heartfelt epilogue and one hell of a happily ever after. I am not sure why I thought there were only going to be three books in this baseball related series, but I have a strong feeling that we will touch base with Jason’s sister Natalie as I feel she has more to tell us, as does Cory – Milly’s Ball playing brother. But the one I am most intrigued with is Walker, I am desperate for him to get his own book and know more about why he is so grumpy but appealing. I, for one will be staying tuned and waiting for another home run.
Admittedly, at first, I didn’t quite know what to think about or how to feel about
Dottie Domico. Someone that well put together who knows how to handle being a shark in a male-dominated world works well professionally, but it seems a bit difficult to turn off that overpowering personality in a personal setting. So, it took some time for me to see past her layers to her soft middle, but she definitely grew on me the further into the story I read, and in some ways, she was the perfect counter to Jason Orson’s over-the-top, in your face, hilarious personality. They put each other through their paces, ensuring that when things did come to a head in respects to their chemistry and undeniable feelings for each other that they knew exactly who each of them were and what it would take for this unique but worthwhile pairing to work .
To me, Dottie and Jason’s personalities are acquired tastes, not because they’re seemingly bad people or they don’t know how to interact in social settings; it’s more that they have such dominating traits to who they are that it’s difficult to go beyond what’s blatantly in everyone’s face and see their other genuinely pleasant personality traits. This may come off a bit harsh, but as I was reading The Lineup and listening to Dottie and Jason’s words and witnessing their actions, I realized that they are the type of people who others either accept for all that they are or take issue with because of how different they just might be to everyone else.
I really liked how Meghan Quinn set up the plot line of The Lineup…the fact that they were acquaintances and were in the same friends’ circle, but never truly connected, establishes a baseline for the hero and heroine, and she amps it up just a little bit more by having Dottie crushing on Jason back then and after bringing them together when Dottie’s over-the-top donation peeks Jason’s interest and offers them an opportunity to get to know one another on a much more personal basis.
It’s clear that Meghan Quinn has a vibrant and bubbly personality because those qualities are infused in her books, showcasing how life doesn’t have to always be so serious and that there are times and places where humor is exactly what’s needed. But even though comedy is a big part of Quinn’s books, she also delivers the perfect amount of angst, the torturous slow burn, and the swoon worthy moments that show just how multifaceted she is as a writer.
4 Poison Apples
Once again Meghan Quinn has made me laugh out loud while reading.
The accidental donation to Jason Ormon’s charity will forever change. Dottie’s uptight, work-focused, and scheduled life.
Jason is one of a kind. He’s a bit over the top at times but that’s just him. He likes to cook (#BestPotatoSaladEver), he is persistent (that’s saying it kindly), he’s talkative and says everything and anything that comes to his mind (which often makes his friends cringe along with Dottie).
These two are so different but have a few similarities. Jason helps soften Dottie – it a journey – this is definitely a slow burn. From their college days to the present, Dottie is reluctant to “give in” at times when Jason shows her how happy she can be.
Checking in with Emory & Knox (The Locker Room) and Millie and Milly & Carson (The Dugout) was a treat.
If you are ready for a slow burn, enemies to lover (kinda), second chance romance, a romantic comedy that will have you laughing out loud at times, this book is going to hit all of those needs!
Whenever I pick up a book by the Meghan Quinn, I absolutely know that I am going to have a great time. The Lineup has been a total joy to read from the first sentence to the last. It is well written, incredibly funny, has a great twist on gender behaviour and uses it to brilliant comedic effect. Dottie and Jason have been a delight to meet and a fabulous addition to the baseball/loft group that we first met in The Locker Room, and being able to spend time with these book friends with their widening circle, totally satisfying. I have laughed aloud and my spirit feels better for it. Thank you Meghan
4.5 stars
This book was hilarious. I loved Jason and his ability to make me laugh.
Dottie had a crush on Jason way back when and she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t tempted to bid on him at a charity auction. But this is Dottie. She’s not going to put herself in that position but she is going to bid just so she can donate to a good cause. Of course nothing ever goes to plan and Dottie ends up winning a date with him that she doesn’t want but that soon turns into so much more. Jason is relentless when he wants to be and it doesn’t take him long to realise he enjoys their banter and how easily he can rile her up and get a reaction from her.
Dottie wasn’t as quick for me to like as Jason. She works in a men’s world so she’s used to holding her own and she can sometimes come across as cold and unfeeling but once I got to know her I ended up really liking her. She’s sworn off men, she never really meant to win the auction for a date with her old crush and now she has she’s doing everything she can to get out of it. Jason has other ideas though and sets about inserting himself into Dotties life and enjoying every second of it.
This is another great read from Ms Quinn. The characters are easy to like, the story had me hooked and I absolutely adored Jason. I can’t wait for more from this author.
Meghan Quinn has done it again with The Lineup!! Another HOMERUN!!!
Jason Orson is one of my favorite male characters. He is over the top, he knows he is over the top, he feels strongly about everything he does and when he decides it’s Dottie Domico he wants, there is no stopping him.
Jason and Dottie went to college together. She knew about him because she went to baseball parties but he never knew about her. Jason is a professional baseball player now back in Chicago after a trade. He moves across the hall from Knox and Emory, he drives everyone crazy but they love Jason because he has a heart of gold.
Dottie is best friends with Emory. And Emory is so excited to have Dottie donate to try and win a date with Jason….. and the book goes builds from here.
What Meghan Quinn gives readers in The Lineup is book perfection. The banter with Jason and Dottie as she tries to push in away is incredible. The relationship they build starting as friends, even though he drives her crazy too is priceless. How they get to happily ever after is just a great book! I laughed, I cried, I did not want it to end.
I loved reading about Knox & Emory and Carson & Milly (I love Milly). This book can be read as a standalone but revisitng the old characters is amazing. Thank you Meghan Quinn for another book filled with laughter and honesty and real people. And the steamy scenes in this book…. so good!
Jason Orson is a baseball catcher who has just been traded to his hometown but the only problem is that is isn’t the tea he grew up cheering for. As he tries to raise money for his charity, The Line-Up he offers a date with him and someone wins it with buying a huge amount of tickets and now he wants to make the date come true.
Dorothy “Dottie” Domico belongs in the boardroom and helps run her family’s Real Estate business but when her assistant accidentally gives money to the wrong charity she has no desire to receive the prize. Dottie has had her eyes on Jason since college but has no desire to get any closer to him than necessary and that means avoiding the date at all costs.
But soon Dottie discovers that business and pleasure can sometimes be a necessity and how far is Dottie willing to go to get ahead in the job?
This is another amazing book filled with so many laughs and other times so many jaw dropping moments that left me wanting more and more. I couldn’t put the book down!! I must say also that I was reading the book during a day where I was really struggling with some stuff that happened and this book completely changed my mood and really made me reflect on the power of books. Thank you so much to the author for really unknowingly helping me through a very difficult day.
I loved Jason and his cooking and sensitive side. He is definitely what I have been missing in my life and I would try his potato salad anytime!! I really liked how he had to come to terms with the baseball team that he was on given that he grew up worshiping the other team and this was something completely new for him. I loved his talks with Knox and Carson and their friendship was so awesome!
Dottie was a little bit of a mixed bag for me. I loved how determined she was to succeed with her job but she also let her job control her life. Her friendships with Emory and Lindsay were great and I loved all of the messages that were sent and all of the honesty between them. I was so mad at Dottie for what she did to Jason at the office when he was just trying to be nice.
There were so many moments that made me laugh so hard like Jason and the bear. That was such a good scene!! Then the interactions between Dottie and Jason after Dottie was texting with Lindsay were also so good!
I knew when Dottie did what she could with the Carlton’s that things would eventually get revealed but I wasn’t sure how everything was going to happen. I wasn’t actually very happy with the Carltons when all was said and done with what they were basing their decisions on and how it was apparent that anyone would do what they could to secure the contract.
The blow up was huge and epic and I understood why Jason was so mad and I was curious to see what Dottie was going to do. I was so proud of Dottie for speaking the truth but she lost so much for being honest.
I was curious to see how long things would take to get resolved and I was definitely surprised at Dottie’s actions and where she ended up.
The very end was awesome and I want more of these characters!!
Oh my goodness!
I haven’t laughed so hard while reading in a long time!
Jason is so different than any other male character I’ve read about and it was so nice! He was hilarious, sweet, and super emotional. He is very in touch with his feminine side and a very unmanly-man baseball star. Dottie is his complete opposite. She is a powerful woman who is all business and no play unless its a little bit of time with her girlfriends.
Their relationship is an absolute roller coaster and it was so entertaining to watch! They truly are complete opposites but they are the worst/perfect match for each other. Even though they were a bit frustrating at times, it was hard not to root for them to get their happily ever after.
One of my favorite parts about this series is that we get to see everyone from the previous books. We get to catch up with them, see where they are now and how they affect Jason and Dottie’s relationship. I really, really, really hope that Lindsay will get her own story next! She needs a baseball hottie just like her three best friends.
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
