Want to know a secret? It’s about that girl over there.Don’t look, but she’s the one in the power suit—with the long, black hair and the serious expression, the one I’m about to go on a date with . . .Yeah, according to her, she “accidentally” donated an obscene amount of money to my charity — The Lineup — to win said date but I found out the truth. Miss. Button Up Blouse has a secret, passionate … has a secret, passionate crush on me.
I didn’t know her name until two days ago, despite the friends we have in common.
Was I oblivious? Probably.
Was I blind to it? Definitely.
But I’m no fool, I see it now. The High Heel Harlot wants more than just a date with Jason Orson, she wants to be able to claim the best butt in baseball as hers.
Here’s another secret . . . she has no idea I know.

I really wasn’t expecting to get so emotional reading Jason’s book. I seriously remember him as the goof of the group. Sure he was sensitive and very comfortable in his own skin and wasn’t afraid to show Knox his love. But he was always messing around and having a laugh and I really expected just to giggle my way through his story. And I am going to take inspiration from Jason and say I cried like a teenage girl reading that.
Dottie was such a strong independent woman. She knew what she wanted professionally and she worked damn hard to make it happen so it was hard to picture her not getting stabby at Jason’s laid back, easy going, jokester self.
But they complemented each other so beautifully. And obviously having the same friend group helped. Jason with his bubble butt and abs to die for had me more than understanding her crush on him. And the whole dirty talking, alpha side that came out just added even more to his appeal. Because seriously he was the best all round book boyfriend of the whole crew.
And even though I did cry like a baby I still had loads of laughs. And the story kept me well entertained. I really just loved the whole thing. And I am seriously praying that Natalie and Walker are going to get a book because those 2 characters so deserve a HEA. Please Meghan.
Dottie’s friends think it’s a bit funny to tease her about the crush she had in college about a certain ball player, the same ball player that now is doing a donate to charity for a date. When there is a bit of a mix-up and Dottie actually wins the date with Jason, she tries to avoid the date at all costs, but Jason (the certain ballplayer) makes sure that that doesn’t happen. Jason is interested in Dottie from the first minute he sees her, he understands that he needs to move slowly and it’s going to take work to get in there, but he is determined to get there. Dottie has been burned in the past and doesn’t have time for some guy, even if he has an amazing body, and makes her laugh. When Dottie finally lets her guard down and lets Jason in, will she truly be giving it a chance or is there an ulterior motive?
So… I have no clue how to phrase this review. While on one hand I really liked seeing the other couples from the previous books, this had some really funny moments, and some really hot naughty bits and loads of drama. On the other, I thought that Jason would have been better suited for a MM story. I cringed as I wrote that, but it’s true, Dottie could have been named Donald and this would have been an amazing story for me. I just could not get behind the characters, no matter how funny he was. I give this 3.5 stars.
OMG I love Jason Orson! I laughed and I cried and Meghan Quinn made me want to know this man. I loved Dottie and these two together are magical. 5 stars! Must read!
The Lineup is book 3 in the brentwood baseball series and follows Jason and Dottie and although these books can be read as standalones to truly appreciate these characters I highly suggest reading The Locker Room and The Dugout first
This is a book that will make you laugh so hard you will have tears in your eyes, then it’ll rip your heart out and make you cry for a whole different reason but ultimately you will be left smiling and feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside thinking Jason what have you done to me. It was deliciously slow burn, incredibly steamy, with a good mix of angst and some insane laugh out loud moments
The best way to describe Jason is to use words from Dottie herself ‘Oh my God. Why is he such a moron? An adorably sweet moron. A moron that keeps tempting me to laugh’. He is loud, obnoxious, funny, has no filter but is also kind, warm, sensitive and so damn loveable and I hear he makes the best potato salad you will ever eat
Dottie is the defitnion of a Boss Woman. She is career orientated, strong, distant at times, doesnt hold back but is also vulnerable, sweet, loyal and caring
I loved this story so much and I’m constantly amazed at how Meghan keeps hitting it out the park with the dialogue in her stories, by far these books have some of the best dialogue and funny scenes ive ever read and I can’t wait for more stories especially Holt and Cory
5 star review of The Lineup by Meghan Quinn
That Lineup ticked all the boxes for me and is a great example of RomCom at it’s finest. Meghan Quinn has a way with words that quickly draws you in and keeps you captivated from the first to the last page. An enemies to loves story that will get under your skin and have you wanting to re read time and again.
I fell hard and fast for Jason Orson, he was everything I wanted and so much more. Jason was such a charismatic hero that I couldn’t help but fall for him. Not only is he hot, but he is caring and protective and I loved how independent, feisty and sassy Dottie is.
The chemistry between Jason and Dottie was intense and hot. Of course it wouldn’t be a Meghan Quinn novel without humour and laughter and this just added to the overall enjoyment of the book with numerous snort worthy laugh out loud moments.
I just loved everything about the characters and the story and in my opinion Ms.Quinn has another winner on her hands.
HOT baseball pants
College Crush
Slow Burn with an EXTREMELY hot end
Baseball player with all the ALPHA swoon
Romantic Comedy that will melt your heart
YASSSSS!
Rom-com at its best! This book had me laughing so hard! Jason is quite the character. He is over the top sensitive and some of the things he says…. Dottie is a badass is the boardroom and a tough nut to crack. They totally balance each other out. Their chemistry is crazy hot and I love dominate Jason.
This book is my favourite from this series to-date.
I simply loved Jason with his wit and outgoing personality. He was NOT the typical alpha male baseball player I’ve read about before. Jason is the complete opposite of Dottie. She’s so serious, she has to be running a multi million dollar company. She’s all work and relatively little play. It was lovely seeing her softer side come out and pair with Jason.
Watching this pair of opposites navigate the rollarcoaster of a relationship was hilarious and entertaining to watch. I simply love Meghan’s romances. Not sure how she comes up with these great amusing storylines but I am really glad she does. Once you start you will be hooked and enjoying the entertainment.
Meghan Quinn has done it again! The Lineup had me cracking up through out the whole book. Jason Is one of the most unique and quirky heroes I have come across. He is awash in contradictions and 100% authentic. In a society expanding on the definition of gender and sexuality it was refreshing to see A character like Jason. He is sensitive and caring, and confident in his masculinity as well. He does not feel diminished or let others diminish him because he has traits that have previously identified as feminine. Dottie has climbed the corporate ladder and is doing her best to stay on top. Her tough exterior and warm gooey center make her a perfect partner for Jason. I highly recommend this book! I received an arc of this book and voluntarily give my review
The Lineup is another great romcom from Meghan Quinn. Meghan has become one of the authors I read when I need a laugh and this one didn’t disappoint. Dottie and Jason are great characters. Jason is sweet and caring guy. Dottie is independent, head strong girl that doesn’t cave in easily. This one is s low burn read, Jason slowly melts away the walls that Dottie has up. This one is definitely a sweet fun read.
I adored this book! it was so funny and sexy at the same time! Jason became my favorite hero after Roark!
Overall Rating – .5
I just love Meghan’s writing and the easy humour she brings to her novels and this book will have you laughing and swooning all over the place.
Dottie accidentally donates to Jason’s charity and wins a ‘date’ with him. She cancels, but being the sensitive guy Jason is, he turns up to her work place for a small ‘date’. Dottie is quite taken aback by this but accepts the food he offers, then calls security on him.
Dottie and Jason have friends in common so they see each other at times. Jason is the friendly one, always trying to get her attention and Dottie is always cold and pushing him away. At times I thought she was a little rude and I really felt for Jason, but then the funny Dottie comes out and everything starts to fall into place.
Jason. He will make you laugh so hard. He’s that annoying person that does it with charm and wit, that you can’t help falling for. He takes himself a little serious but again, these are the qualities that will make you swoon so bad for him as well as his alpha male personality. I think he may be my favourite of Quinn’s men in this series.
If you are looking for a fun, lighthearted easy book to read, this is the book for you. There’s a little angst waiting for them to get together but they are so suited to each other and I loved every minute of it.

Dottie has seen Jason in college for the first time, and has a crush on him ever since. They had and still have the same friend circle, but never really met officially.
Now, years later, she’s the CEO of the family business. Strong minded, cautious, snarky.
Jason became a hot shot baseball player, who finally comes back into his hometown.
They meet again through their friends, and Jason is fascinated by her looks. Now, I’d say, he has a crush on her, lol.
But Dottie doesn’t make it easy for him. He really has to work for it. They have fun and hilarious banter and moments in between, but also times I’d liked to strangle them lol.
I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review
When you though Meghan’s previous was a knockout, she came with another one!
I have never read a guy like Jason. He’s like no other guy. He’s your typical cocky baseball player, but he’s also a big softie!! And I loved everything about him.
Dottie is a confident business woman who knows her worth. She is set on her ways and rigid to trying new things. But there’s so much more to her than what she let on. Past experience had made her who she is. But she and Jason.. They’re inevitable. With their witty banter, hot angsty chemistry, I found myself smiling throughout the book.
The slow burn got to me and I just kept on waiting until they got together. It was worth the wait because when they got together, wow they’re explosive!
Highly highly recommended! 5 star and more for this one!
Meghan Quinn delivers a laugh out loud rom-com with The Lineup. Jason, the baseball player perfectly illustrated on the book cover, is one of those characters you’ll remember.
The character role reversal threw me at first, but once I got into it, I became a Jason fan. By “role reversal” I’m referring to the fact that Jason has a whole lot of stereotypical woman in him. He’s emotional, cries easily, loves to talk about his feelings, loves to cook, cares about the presentation of said food.
Then there’s Dottie, his sort of opposite. She’s a no tear, has her own chef, all about work kind of lady. I’ve definitely read many romance novels where she’s the hero to a T. She might be a bit difficult to like, except her long-time besties help to round out those soft edges and we see the heart underneath the shell.
One thing about Jason. That cover image with the hair and necklace is spot on. And that towel image! So many times in the book we hear about THE towel photo. And, I do love it when the book cover plays out on something in the book, and especially when it nails my image of the hero. But, no matter how many body descriptions of Jason I read, I couldn’t shake my image of having a thicker middle. Maybe it’s just his love of food, maybe it’s the bubble butt, but I kept expecting him to say, “Baby, I love your hands on me, but please don’t grab the love handles.” It’s probably all in my head. In my mind, baseball players’ physiques are one step above golfers’.
As the book progresses, Dottie softens a bit and re-prioritizes. And Jason, well, he’s kind of perfect. Like, amazingly perfect, funny and while he loves the challenge Dottie represents, he falls in love with the woman no other man has taken the time to discover. So, it takes a while to get there, but in the end, Quinn delivers a warm happy HEA.
Jason Orson, may seem like any other pro-jock with his love of both bathroom humor and his own behind, but underneath he’s one of the most sensitive guys you could ever meet who loves to cook, take care of those he loves and wears his heart on his sleeve.
Dottie Domico takes no prisoners in business and wears a power suit like a champ. But she’s been burned in the past and is afraid to let anyone break down her walls and see her insecurities, except for her closest female friends.
Even though she’s had a crush on him since college, Dottie isn’t about to give in to Jason until his winning smile and never take no for an answer perseverance wears her down. And, because it might help her close a huge business deal to say she’s in a relationship. But, when things between them start feeling very real, and both are feeling much more for each other than expected, Dottie’s afraid to let on why she agreed to the date in the first place. When they truth comes out, can Jason listen to her reasons, or will Chicago’s newest power couple strike out before they cross first base?
I absolutely loved Jason and Dottie together. The mother hen of the team from Brentwood, Jason immediately knows that Dottie needs someone to take care of her when she’s not in the boardroom and to make her enjoy life by relaxing and having fun every once in awhile. His character is beyond sweet and funny. I mean, who doesn’t love a man who loves to cook and can make you smile even after the worst of days, yet takes complete control in the bedroom?!
Dottie is such a force of nature as well. She’s used to taking charge, and making tough decisions and not relying on or trusting anyone outside of her parents and best friends. But, there is something about Jason, more than his fabulous butt, that really draws her to him. But, will it be enough for her to let down all of her walls and let him really in which is what he needs to be happy?
The Lineup was funny and sweet, hot and sexy and had enough relationship drama to get me entertained without feeling overplotted. For fans of the series, there is plenty of Knox and Emory and Carson and Milly as well which added to the fun. Meghan Quinn knocked The Lineup out of the park! Jason and Dottie stole my heart. 5 stars!
The Lineup is entertaining from start to finish! Filled with miscommunications, secrets and crushes – this story is one you don’t want to miss. The dynamics between Dottie and Jason are like fire and ice, leaving you wanting more with every page. Jason is such a tender-hearted character, alpha behind doors, and unfiltered with his friends. With an enemies-to-lovers vibe, The Lineup will have you swooning, smiling, with a bit of a heart attack thrown in as well. This is in my top three favorite books from Meghan Quinn and I can’t wait to read it again!
NO SPOILERS!
It doesn’t get better than a Meghan Quinn romance. The Lineup has hands down been the BEST and my FAVORITE novel from Meghan Quinn to date! GAH, I absolutely LOVED this sexy, hilarious, swoon-worthy, and beyond entertaining standalone romantic comedy in the Brentwood Baseball series!
The storyline and characters completely stole my heart and captured all of my attention, and I adored Meghan Quinn’s writing style and phenomenal sense of humor. She is by far one of my top favorite romance authors, and I can never get enough of her love stories. They are unparalleled and I’ll never, ever stop reading them.
The storyline took me by surprise, but it was a very good and pleasant surprise. I was fully expecting it to take place at Brentwood University in Chicago, but that’s not what Meghan had in store for Jason and Dottie’s story, and I couldn’t have been happier with the result. Everything about Jason and Dottie’s story was amazing and memorable, and I loved it so much.
The characters were the icing on the cake. Jason and Dottie, especially Jason, wrecked me for all other characters. Seriously, they ruined me, but in the best way possible. I absolutely loved Jason and Dottie. These two were everything I hoped they’d be and so much more, especially Jason. THIS. MAN. I swear he was after my own heart [and I gave it willingly ;)]. Jason has been the BEST and my FAVORITE hero and book boyfriend of all-time. ALL. TIME. That’s right, I’m calling it! He had every characteristic you could ever possibly want/dream of. Jason was the PERFECT package and I loved him with all my heart and soul. Dottie was a breed of her own, and while she wasn’t what I was expecting, I still loved her. Jason and Dottie were perfect together, and though their story was rocky at times, I loved going on this journey with them. I was absolutely ecstatic with the conclusion and can’t wait to hopefully read more standalones in the Brentwood Baseball series!
The Lineup was to die for and has been Meghan Quinn’s BEST novel to date! She completely blew my mind with Jason and Dottie’s story, and I cannot recommend it enough! The Lineup was a sexy, swoon-worthy, entertaining, and laugh-out-loud MUST READ standalone romantic comedy in the Brentwood Baseball series, and I am so pumped to read more in this addicting and phenomenal world Meghan Quinn has created!
I don’t know how Meghan does it! The Lineup was even better than The Dugout and The Locker Room. It was non stop laughs, I don’t think I have laughed out loud that much since maybe The Mother Road. In true Meghan style, the humor was matched with just as many swoon worthy moments! Jason may be overly sensitive and slightly crazy but he was a big teddy bear! I wouldn’t mind cuddling up to him!!
Dottie has harbored a crush on Jason since college but he had no clue who she even was. As fate would have it she won a date with him through a charity auction but will she chicken out before the date even began?
Jason may not have known who Dottie was right off the bat but through observation and their mutual friends, he learned enough to know she really was interested even if she denied it! Can Jason get her to go on the date before she writes him off for good?
It was so much fun to watch these two! The push and pull and the persistence and dismissal kept you on your toes! Jason with all his quirkiness made my heart completely melt!!
If you have been reading Meghan’s Brentwood baseball books, you will be happy to know you get lots of favorites from past books!! Love catching up with them all!! If you have not read The Dugout or The Locker Room, get on it!!
After finishing reading this book all I want is a Jason of my own! Yep, there I said it and now I’m wishing he was a real person. Although in the story he came off as goofy, his heart is just so big and he’d do anything for the people he loves but also has such a respect for women, I totally get how someone would fall for him ‘cuz I definitely would and never let him go 🙂 I totally fell in love with this story and with both Jason and Dottie! Definitely a book that kept me laughing and smiling from ear to ear. But it also had an emotional note that had me teary-eyed so many times. A good mixture of everything and definitely a must read!
Dottie has had enough of men and doesn’t want to have any kind of relationship anymore after being burnt so many times. When she bumps into her old school crush Jason, they don’t get off on the right foot and head buts big time. But Jason won’t let go so easily and tries to break through her tough exterior. When there’s a big business opportunity on the horizon, Dottie makes a mistake and it’s not easy to overturn. When Dottie finally seems to let Jason into her life, they start to get closer every day they spend together and their bond gets stronger. But when a secret comes out, both will have to decide whether or not their relationship is worth fighting for….
