This #1 bestselling legal thriller from Michael Connelly is a stunning display of novelistic mastery – as human, as gripping, and as whiplash-surprising as any novel yet from the writer Publishers Weekly has called “today’s Dostoevsky of crime literature.” Mickey Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, traveling between the … traveling between the far-flung courthouses of Los Angeles to defend clients of every kind. Bikers, con artists, drunk drivers, drug dealers – they’re all on Mickey Haller’s client list. For him, the law is rarely about guilt or innocence, it’s about negotiation and manipulation. Sometimes it’s even about justice.
A Beverly Hills playboy arrested for attacking a woman he picked up in a bar chooses Haller to defend him, and Mickey has his first high-paying client in years. It is a defense attorney’s dream, what they call a franchise case. And as the evidence stacks up, Haller comes to believe this may be the easiest case of his career. Then someone close to him is murdered and Haller discovers that his search for innocence has brought him face-to-face with evil as pure as a flame. To escape without being burned, he must deploy every tactic, feint, and instinct in his arsenal – this time to save his own life.

Michael Connelly is a great writer. LA is his place. What I liked about this book is how he showed the flaw in thinking DNA evidence is the be all and end all for a criminal case. All DNA proves is that the DNA is there. Ultimately, it doesn’t even prove the person was there as DNA evidence can be planted.
I think for those convicted of crimes, …
Want to disappear for a while? Connelly’s books are a welcome escape. Based on a likeable, imperfect character, the Lincoln lawyer has a strong pace and just enough plot events to keep you saying” I’ll put this down after the next chapter.”
Some violence, but not enough to put you off. Jump in and enjoy the dark side of LA.
I’m a Michael Connolly fan, and this is my favorite of his books. I love the quirky characters, and the plot wound out at a good pace, carrying me along. I highly recommend.
This is the first legal thriller by Michael Connelly that I’ve read. It won’t be the last. I was intrigued from the start by the idea of a story featuring a defense lawyer who works out of his car most of the time and I wasn’t disappointed.
Michael “Mickey” or “Mick” Haller goes where his clients are. He works the jails, the streets and the …
This is Connelly at his best. While I do like Harry Bosch “better” in the long run, this book may be one of the best written of the Haller or Bosch series. Even if you saw the movie, the book is still worth the read. You will NOT be sorry.
I just read this book although I saw the movie years ago. Glad I did, the book is always better than the movie. Mickey Haller, the Lincoln lawyer, conducts his business out of the back seat of his Lincoln limousine. He keeps a fleet of them. Mickey defends criminals and has become hardened. He is afraid he will not recognize innocence when he …
The Lincoln Lawyer is the first in Michael Connelly’s Mickey Haller series. Sleazeball attorney Mickey Haller rides around LA in the back of his Lincoln. Meeting up with all of his guilty, reoffending clients. Then a dream case washes up on shore. A rich kid charged with assaulting a prostitute, Mickey Haller knows for a fact she’s just after a …
One of the first Michael Connelly books I ever read. Got me hooked.
A fantastic author and a fantastic read.
Another original story by Michael Conley. Bosh is a character we all love to love
Read this a long, long time ago and what do I remember? I loved it. I love the lawyer stuff, the complexity, the main character. And well written. All good as far as I’m concerned
I love Bosch and to learn he has a half-brother!!
Enjoyable.
I liked the Lincoln Lawyer because his office was the back seat of his car. The story g kept me wanting more. I have read it about a year ago, so I can’t remember a lot.
Excellent read … takes you on a thrill ride and you have not idea where it will end. A real page turner with lots of twists and turns. You will not be disappointed.
I don’t usually read legal thrillers, as I find most to be slow-paced and boring, but this book is great! The character is an interesting one, and you’ll want more of him. It kept my interest throughout the novel.
Can a lawyer deal with the underworld and his colorful clients using a lincoln town car as an office? The book will answer this question and entertain you thorougly
I just finished reading The Lincoln Lawyer by Michael Connelly. It was great. I particularly liked the character of his daughter, kids with spunk. I’m always a fan of an intricate story. Jeff Bailey, author of The Defect.
Michael Connelly’s novels are always interesting. Some I’ve liked more than others. This one I especially liked. I’d read it after a time of not reading anything by the author since the book I’d read before this one was a bit rough and disturbing for me. This one had some involvement with the subject of prostitution, but not a lot of foul …
a classic even before the movie
