Once upon a time, in an alleyway in the slums of the City Of Lockes, a young and somewhat lonely boy named Sam Haversford turns a group of teenage douchebags into stone completely by accident. Of course, this catches the attention of a higher power, and Sam’s pulled from the only world he knows to become an apprentice to the King’s Wizard, Morgan of Shadows. When Sam’s fourteen, he enters the … he enters the Dark Woods and returns with Gary, the hornless gay unicorn, and a half-giant named Tiggy, earning the moniker Sam of Wilds.
At fifteen, Sam learns what love truly is when a new knight arrives at the castle–Knight Ryan Foxheart, the dreamiest dream to have ever been dreamed.
Naturally, it all goes to hell when Ryan dates the reprehensible Prince Justin, Sam can’t control his magic, a sexually aggressive dragon kidnaps the prince, and the King sends them on an epic quest to save Ryan’s boyfriend, all while Sam falls more in love with someone he can never have.
Or so he thinks.

Oh the glorious snark!!!
I started the book on a whim, and was immediately hooked by the humor, the outlandish characters and the story itself. I did not know it was classified gay, but this 70 year old woman could care less. I am now reading the sequel and loving it for the same reasons !
Misdescribed and very distasteful
If you can handle lots and lots of gay sass, read this, and wait to be astounded by more than you signed up for 🙂
I hear Eddie Murphy’s voice as Donkey from Shrek whenever I read Gary the unicorn’s lines, and it’s wonderful!
The funniest book I’ve ever read, thus far.
The zany characters will keep you laughing from the beginning to the end of this book!
Dull and childish writing. The characters appear to have interests that parallel the author’s–of vulgarity and sex. Please, give us something worth reading. This was sadly lacking any substance or entertainment.
This book kept me in stitches reading it.
This book makes me laugh till I cry. It is hilariously funny. The author brings each character to life.
A really fun book.
Hard to follow I quit reading after a chapter
Amazing characters who are deeper than they appear at first glance
I really enjoyed this book. All the teen angst & emotions were so on point. Whether a person is LGBT or not the romantic comedy & avoidance is true to life… I was laughing & sharing parts of it with my teenager.
This was a delightful book with a quirky cast of characters. It is not for the reader opposed to some foul language.
Terrible
I laughed so hard that I scared the neighbors. I can hardly wait to read the rest of the series.
It’s a great book and I fell in love with the characters from page one.
I found it distasteful and stopped reading it part way. The writing was also poor.
Hilariously raunchy. A bit more graphic than necessary but cute anyway
It’s a great, complex and wacky LGBT fantasy story. 😀
