He was the first person to inspire her, to move her, to truly understand her. Was he meant to be the last?
Lucy is faced with a life-altering choice. But before she can make her decision, she must start her story—their story—at the very beginning.
Lucy and Gabe meet as seniors at Columbia University on a day that changes both of their lives forever. Together, they decide they want their lives to mean something, to matter. When they meet again a year later, it seems fated—perhaps they’ll find life’s meaning in each other. But then Gabe becomes a photojournalist assigned to the Middle East and Lucy pursues a career in New York. What follows is a thirteen-year journey of dreams, desires, jealousies, betrayals, and, ultimately, of love. Was it fate that brought them together? Is it choice that has kept them away? Their journey takes Lucy and Gabe continents apart, but never out of each other’s hearts.
This devastatingly romantic debut novel about the enduring power of first love, with a shocking, unforgettable ending, is Love Story for a new generation.
“It’s the epic love story of 2017.”—Redbook

I have much time to do The Instagram here in the airport (de-icing our plane, because it’s April and -14, so…logical).
I read this currently bestselling novel in Bermuda. On the beach, actually, which left me with a very waterlogged looking book. There is good reason why this romantic story of star-crossed lovers is whipping off the shelves everywhere.
Jill Santopolo does such an amazing job of evoking that magical sensation of connection between soul mates and the devastation of losing that. I could relate to Lucy, the narrator, right away and this kept me flipping the pages late into the night to find out if her and her soulmate Gabriel would end up together. This is a guttingly romantic read. I’m not going to give anything away because the ride is just too enjoyable, but trust me – you will want to find out for yourselves.
I bought this book but I was resistant to reading it for some reason. Once I read past the first chapter I couldn’t stop reading. I found it both original and beautiful.
I had a feeling about this book from the very beginning.
Lovely love story
I didn’t manage it beyond page 20.
I struggled a little and got to 30 only to retired. Could not attach with the characters, the kinship between them seemed superficial and very unreliable. Descriptions were leading – the kind of narratives that give all solution to the reader instead of challenging him.
This was a very moving story that will touch your heart and leave you in tears. Excellent book.
This book stirred many emotions in me. Love, heartache and betrayal with a large dose of happiness in between. I loved the way the book read as a diary or love letter, however you want to interpret it. I still wonder how her life turned out.
A poignant love story about two young people who meet on Sept 11th and their resultant criss-crossing lives.
Just wonderful.
I loved it!
Great story, likable, believable characters. Best book I have read in a long time.
I enjoyed this book very much, It was about two young people finding love, but at odds with their careers, sending them in different directions and different parts of the world.
I read the book quickly and I then reread parts again. I had a connection to the female character. I pulled for her even when I did not understand things she did or thought.
I liked the characters. I wondered throughout where the story was going. It was written in the style of a letter to a lover. The ending was a surprise.
Very loooong love story. Complicated & impossible.
Upon finishishing this book I read the reviews on Amazon. People either love it as a great love story or hate it due to her obsession. I am in the second camp.
It is all written from her perspective of the lost relationship. It is troubling and I wanted to talk to her and tell her she was living in the past. She needs to live in the present for her sake and the sake of her family.
It reminds me of the debate over Bridges of Madison County. Was it a great love and she should have given it her all or be content and grateful for what she has.
Definitely a five star book—I loved it.
I couldn’t get past how self absorbed the characters were.
Had me balling my eyes out.
Loved this book, it was very entertaining and kept my attention.
Pretty easy to figure out from page 10. Not terribly gripping or sad or haunting
