No matter how dark the night, hope is reborn at dawn. It wasn’t just her marriage that crumbled in the wake of unspeakable tragedy, it was her entire life. Even though five years had passed since she lost Evan, Angelia White was still picking up the pieces. Getting involved in a cause she could pour her broken heart into was just another part of the healing process. The wounds were too fresh for … process.
The wounds were too fresh for Mark Lyon to keep his grip on reality. Everything he thought he knew and believed was obliterated when he lost Ashleigh, along with his heart. The only way he could pick up the pieces was to fight for a way to prevent any other parent from ever suffering such merciless pain.
Two heartbroken parents enduring the darkest of nights.
Two wounded souls waiting for the light at dawn.

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery. I have read many many books by this author and I can honestly say that I have loved every single one of them. This book was the total opposite of her previous books but it is definitely a must read. This book was heartbreaking and you will go through at least a box and a half of tissues. How do you overcome the loss of a child???? You don’t, you just hope and pray to be able to survive. Hoping to find someone or something to get you through an extremely dark time. When you dive into this book……. be prepared for the tears to come and not stop. Definitely worth reading!!!!
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is amazing. It is one heartbreaking, soul crushing and heart stoppingly story. DO NOT and I repeat, do not read this book at work because you will do nothing but howl all the way through. Yes, I got strange looks. I have read a lot of K.L. books but this is the first I have read in this genre from her and it is a wonderful and tragic story where the main characters lives become intertwined after each has suffered from the most horrible thing a parent should go through. K.L. has excelled herself in this book. I’m not sure what I expected, but this is so much more. This is one story that will pull on your heartstrings and you can not put down. I loved and hated every single thing and read it in one sitting. I was mesmerized and captivated, enthralled and so engrossed that by the time I had finished, I was an emotional wreck. This story is such an emotional rollercoaster ride of feelings that don’t let up. Even now days later I am still thinking about this raw and confronting story and it still brings tears to my eyes.
Angelia’s life has been turned upside down. She has been left shattered to her very soul. To the core of her being, her essence. She never wants anyone to go through the hell that she has gone through. She will never be the same again.
Mark spots her across the room but they are on two very different sides of a long held debate that continually raises its ugly head, but he just can’t get her out of his mind. Now his life has been turned upside down. He has been left shattered to his very soul. To the core of his being, his essence. He will never be the same again.
When they discover a miracle has happened will it be enough to set them on a path of happiness?
This is one beautifully tragic story that everyone should read.

This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite! But be forewarned, have a box of tissues handy because this is one that made me ugly cry! This was just the book that i needed to read and have a good cry.
When tragedy strikes in Angela’s life, she questions how she can continue her and move on when her child is no longer in it. To pass the time she goes to a gun rally and meets a man called Mark. He is on the opposing side at the rally but having suffered a tragedy of his own, they might be able to help each other heal.
I would absolutely recommend this to a friend!
Happy Reading!!
This book should only be read with a box of tissues and bottle of wine at the ready. This beautiful, tragic, emotional rollercoaster was masterfully written. I felt like I was neck deep in the situations and plot. Montgomery does an absolutely masterful job navigating a societal hot topic and treating it respectfully no matter which side the reader might be on. The characters are relatable, flawed, messy, and complex. This book, hands down, is one that everyone should read. It is simply that good.

Five Stars
It’s been a while since I read a book that took me from my happy place. It’s been a while since a book spoke to me on a deep level. I have kids and wouldn’t know how to go on if this happened to them. I will never understand the reason behind school shootings my heart broke with every word about these tragedies. The author really took you and dragged your emotions through the grinder. Angelia had so much faith, courage and resolve. I wish people were more open to change. Because so many lives have been lost due to people’s inability to see past their views. This story was a lesson learned for those who can’t see that change is needed. The author did am amazing job not stepping on anyone’s toes. The author gave both sides a spot to shine and be heard.
I would like to say that there is enough warning out there to prepare you for the emotional rollercoaster ride that this book will take you on, but quite frankly that just isn’t the case with The Light as Dawn. K.L. Montgomery is normally a one-click author for me so it was a no-brainer to pre-order this beauty the moment I set my eyes on it and heard she had a sad book for us to devour. I had expected a rom-com with a bit more of the heavy sad here and there, more along the lines of what we would see from K.L. Montgomery in the past, and this is quite not what we got. I loved it though! Every stinking gut wrenching, tear inducing, kindle throwing, yelling, and kicking, screaming, bit of it! There was never a safe moment in my reading, just when I found my footing and would settle in, Montgomery would throw another curveball that would have me on my knees in tears and asking how and why all over again.
Now for details I won’t go into. They need to be kept to themselves because they are critical to the storyline and that I won’t ruin. But you will meet Angelina and Mark in their darkest hours, moments I am not sure I would even be able to survive, and how they are able to despite the pain and the sacrifices it requires of them. These two really made my heart swell, I just fell for them completely and I think it will be hard to top these two as favorite leads for 2019 reads. I really loved how Montgomery was able to take something that is a heated and conflicting topic that is constant and on our minds every day in one way or another no matter your age, gun violence, and build a productive story without choosing a side so to speak. It was really about the story that needed to be told, the characters and what they needed to relate. Much kudos for that! I will definitely be putting this one on my TBR reread list and snagging a hard copy for the shelf asap! Thank you so much for this beautiful story and reminder of hope Ms. Montgomery!

The Light at Dawn By KL Montgomery is a heart wrenching story that had my emotions all over the place.I felt it in the very beginning and knew this was going to be an emotionally charged tear jerker, holy cow I wasn’t wrong. This book left me thinking even after I finished reading it. This book brings out awareness to a very real and quite huge issue in our society and the people(victims) that it leaves behind to survive..Get ready for a emotional rollercoaster ride with some heartbreak and life after a loss.I can’t recommend this book enough. Its a must read,I can’t wait to read more from this Author.
In the wake of so many tragedies involving gun violence in this country, the message of this book is especially poignant. The political message surrounding gun control is the largest theme of this story with sprinklings of humor and romance.
Angelia and Mark are incredibly well fleshed out as characters and the sweet moments they share brought on more than a few happy tears but the horrible heartbreak had me dehydrated by the end and with the headaches I always get after crying. So if you’re like me, take advil before reading.
The tact with which K. L. Montgomery tackles both side of the issue (those who advocate for a more thorough gun control and those who believe being armed is the best defense) is commendable.
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is an emotional story that had me in ugly tears at times. This is the story of Angelia White and Mark Lyon. The two are wounded from tragedy. Can the two come together and heal? This story is a beautiful story of survival and healing. This can be a hard subject for those who are sensitive to gun violence. Montgomery handles the subject matter well and it added to the story and wasn’t gratuitous violence. The story had me from the beginning to the end. I enjoyed the characters and wanted the best for them. This was a story that was relatable and reminds us that life is precious. We never know what each day will bring and so we need to make the most of each and every day.
The Light at Dawn by K. L. Montgomery is a five star novel. I really wish there was more stars I could give this book. Within the first couple minutes of reading this book, I was already in tears. As a teacher, this book was very difficult to read because of the sensitive material contained in this book. But I also believe that the topics we don’t talk about will only continue to get worse. After Angelia suffers a terrible tragedy, her marriage also falls apart. Five years later, she meets another man who she can’t seem to get out of her mind. After realizing they have some very deep core values that differ from each other, she starts to distance herself from him. But after he has also recently suffered his deepest loss, Angelia and Mark rekindle a little flame and see each other only at the rallies they go to on different sides of the fence. Can they find common ground or will they be at odds forever?
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is a book that rips your heart out and will keep haunting you for days after you finish it … I had read couple of her other books and thought that I might know what I’d be getting into but I am telling you, leave all your preconceived notions at the door and open yourself up to something amazing!
The Light at Dawn is a heart-breaking story of unspeakable tragedy that both Angelia White and Mark Lyon experience first-hand … it is something that will change their lives for ever, something that will make them to question everything they know, everything they believe in … you WILL CRY, a lot … so have a box of tissues nearby … seriously!
It is a beautiful story about how two people take something unspeakable like a parent losing a child to a mindless violence, and using that experience take a stand and create something meaningful out of it! I loved the way the writer treated the issue that people are so heated AND divided over. You don’t find many writers who take this topic and write about it in such a touching way … Thank you so much for taking up the challenge and giving us The Light at Dawn!
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery was a raw emotional read that will get you in all the feels. This book requires tissues and ice cream.
Not my first read by this author, so I knew going in that the writing would be top shelf. This book blew me out of the water and it got me so hard in the feels that my eyes wouldn’t stop leeking.
I absolutely sincerely loved this book, school shootings always get me. As a Canadian I have the luxury that the anomaly of a school shooting is it something that hardly ever happens here. When I see them on the news it breaks my heart, so for the first part of the book, I was in tears. I had to take a break, just so I could get through the rest of the book.
I will say that some parts were predictable but it didn’t make me like it less. There’s a solid message in there that isn’t one or the other. Compromising together could have a better outcome than just going to one extreme. So the whole ending of the book, I absolutely adored
The romance is a beautiful story, I love the progression of the main characters as the story went on. I also loved how the main story took place over about a year. It made the relationship that much more believable especially at the end.
This book is a must read, so please take my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval, that this book will rip out your heart and put it back together, rip it out again before the light of dawn rises… (see what I did there?).
Happy Reading

5++++++++++ Stars
(Deserves 100x this)
Not even sure where to begin…..Im a complete and utter mess, and I have so many things I want to say but I can’t, I have to find a way to write this review without giving anything away and also get through it without crying…I should be out of tears with how many times they fell while reading this story.
I can without a doubt in my mind say with complete certainty that this will be one of my favorite books of this year and after thinking about it I know it will be in my top five of all time and in my top 2 favorites by this author. Speaking of top two, It took my breath away when the halfway point between Texas and New York became so important and I’m not going to even expand on why that is.
If emotions were muscles I’d be looking up names for why I was feeling so sore…I felt every single type of feeling there is, even ones I’ve never heard of. I’m so impressed with the care that was given to the topics in this book…I’m one of those that sees the important sides to every issue and this one is no exception, and it doesn’t matter where you fall on the issues this author took great care in handling both sides.
I wish I could call out so many scenes in this story and try to explain the feelings they invoked but I can’t…When I say you must read this book I mean that with all that I am..You Must Read This Book and that ending?!?!
I just can’t……
I truly didn’t think I could love this author more but she proved that wasn’t true!

The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is a must read! This is my favorite book by this author to date, which is saying a lot since I always love her work! It’s an incredibly emotional story about loss, heartache, love, and second chances. From the very beginning I was hooked, completely captivated by all the detail and emotion this author was able to convey.
I loved the flow of this storyline and the changes in different POV’s added an extra depth to the story. There were many unexpected twists that had me feeling all kinds of emotions and shedding many tears. It’s such a heart-wrenching story that everyone should read especially in this day and age! It’s a very powerful story that I would recommend to anyone!
The Light at Dawn is a beautiful story by K. L. Montgomery. The story is about the love story of Angelia and Mark. It is a gripping and tragic tale that morphs into a beautiful love story. At times, oh so heartbreaking to read, I felt my heart grow bigger and bigger at the end of each chapter.
Angelia and Mark suffer unimaginable tragedy. The author tells it from different perspectives, and while it doesn’t seem possible for it to ever work, somehow the elegant and soulful way this author delivers a story, it just all fits, both the heartbreak and the happiness. The balance of these elements is often tough to pull off, but K. L. Montgomery does it spectacularly. A tale of living life, experiencing loss and heartbreak, to rebuilding your life and reviving that spark that made the characters shine. A practitioner of words, this author gave me an unforgettable moment where I got to know her people, cried with them, hurt with them, laughed with them, loved with them, healed with them.
A memorable story that contains sensitive content, but is beautiful in it’s profound and persistent uniqueness. 5 stars.
I loved this book, it is my favorite yet by this author. It was such an emotional roller coaster ride that I couldn’t put it down until the end. It brought out awareness to a very real issue in our society and the victims it leaves behind to survive. The characters are connectable and true to life. They made me feel as if I was part of their world in the story. This story is about healing, heartbreak, and life after a loss. This is a must read story and I know you won’t regret picking it up!

The Light At Dawn was an emotional rollercoaster of loss, love, and new beginnings. I cried, laughed, cried, and shouted for joy while reading this novel. I have never read a book so touching. The novel touches on the topic of gun control but it is not the main focus. The loss of two children to gun violence and their broken families is the focus. Two individuals help to build each other up after their great loss and a new love arises from it. There was a huge surprise in the novel that I did not see coming that made me extremely happy. This is definitely one of those books I can read again and again.
The tears are flowing….and they did pretty much the whole time I read this story. It is not an easy story to read…not even close. It tackles some really important and life changing situations and hot button issues in many families’ lives and in our country as a whole and KL does it with panache. She doesn’t just throw us in the midst of tragedy but she makes you feel what these families and their friends are feeling (thus the darned tears). While reading Angelia and Mark’s story, I disliked the author immensely for making me feel so much early on but I knew she would make up for it in the end. Was it all beautiful? Well the writing certainly was, but the story itself was painful and heartbreaking and enlightening and just like the dawn sky. Saying much more about the subject matter will only ruin the story for other readers so I’m not going there but know that you can trust the author to bring things together in a way that makes you take a deep breath and sigh at the beauty of it.
This story here. . . . right here? This is a mind-blowing emotional read for so many reasons oh and let’s not talk about the controversial subject matter. I first do want to say one of the many things I enjoyed about this read is the ability to see the more intimate scenes using my own imagination. Instead of reading about people doing things I could only fantasize about I had a visual that was only wishful thinking instead of something that would never be attained. I know, but what can I say. This was an amazing read. The pain and anguish. The horrendous acts that brought these two together and kept them there. Each had to endure events that have devastating impacts but also propels them into action to protect others. They used their pain for good and yet didn’t let it or their views stop them from their happily ever after. Their dawns went through every gambit of the rainbow. From the beautiful hues of happiness to hues darkened by their pain only to turn to each other and have the light returned. Awesome read with real characters dealing with real life.
ONE INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!
OMG! Man, talk about gut wretching heartbreak. I have to say I read all the time and I’ve read plenty, but this one stole my heart. This is one emotional rollercoaster ride with so much heartache and hope it really pulls those heartstrings. I was transfixed and unable to remove myself from this page turning, awe inspiring, heart pounding tale. I’m not sure there are words to describe my feelings for this treasure. This amazing storyline is so strong it holds your attention in ways the others doesn’t. Montgomery is an incredible author and I’m one of her major fans, but this little guy ruled me in the best of ways. The characters are intelligent, complex and so true to form I felt I could just reach out and touch them. Their personalities are as different and relatable with qualities that bring out such an amazing balance that play off one another brilliantly. The scenes are so descriptive and detailed it really pulls it all together with a realism that has such depth you can almost breathe it in. The trials and tribulations they encounter and all the suspense really builds up the plot and leaves you reeling. Montgomery nailed this little treasure 100%. I was blown away with all the passion and sincerity that transcends throughout as it flows from the pages. Phenomenal job Montgomery, thanks for sharing this intriguing read with us.
