No matter how dark the night, hope is reborn at dawn. It wasn’t just her marriage that crumbled in the wake of unspeakable tragedy, it was her entire life. Even though five years had passed since she lost Evan, Angelia White was still picking up the pieces. Getting involved in a cause she could pour her broken heart into was just another part of the healing process. The wounds were too fresh for … process.
The wounds were too fresh for Mark Lyon to keep his grip on reality. Everything he thought he knew and believed was obliterated when he lost Ashleigh, along with his heart. The only way he could pick up the pieces was to fight for a way to prevent any other parent from ever suffering such merciless pain.
Two heartbroken parents enduring the darkest of nights.
Two wounded souls waiting for the light at dawn.
Author’s Note: This book contains sensitive subject matter that may be upsetting to some readers.

The Light at Dawn, quickly drew me in, so much so, I stayed up all night reading. I thought K.L. Montgomery handled the subject matter in a way that was both, respectful and wonderfully portrayed. I can usually feel when a book was written from the author’s soul, and this was one of those amazing stories. The characters were strongly developed, giving me a true sense of who each of them were. This book was wonderful! Though the content was at times emotional, I thought it was such an uplifting love story.

The story The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is an amazing book that is powerful and emotional. It is a story that is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It is a book that I thought about long after I had finished it. The story is written in such a way that you feel the deep/strong emotions that the main characters go through. I enjoyed reading about Angelia White and Mark Lyon. They both have had tragedy deeply affect their lives. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. Angelia is a character that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. Mark is a character that as the story progressed, I came to understand him better and the way he reacts to situatons. He is also a character that I found myself caring about. I also enjoyed reading about the additional characters that are introduced in the book. Many of them are friends and family who are supportive of Angelia and Mark. Angelia also has those who are protective of her. This is a story that you can’t help but ask “What would I do if I were in the same situation?” It is thought-provoking. Don’t miss out on a story that grabs your attention from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until you have finished the final page. I would highly recommend reading it.
This was my first time reading this author, and it definitely won’t be the last!
From page one I was hooked, by chapter three I was messaging a friend to purchase.
The storyline is a tough subject for many reasons, but this author definitely in my opinion did it justice. The characters were not only relatable and likable but draws the reader into their lives. I couldn’t get enough of their story, highly recommend for those looking for an emotional but at the same time happily ever after story.
Oh my gosh this was such a moving story. I enjoy this book from beginning to the end. The characters are well developed and engaging. The storyline flowed smoothly from the beginning to the end.
The Light at Dawn will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that will hit you with the force that you will hold your breath. The loss that Mark and Angelia endure is absolutely heartbreaking and unfortunately not seldom occurrence.
They sensitive matters that will be hard for readers. But how you survive murder of your child with such a senseless act?
The book will break you,it gutted me.
The ending was beautiful and healing.

*spoilers* Every parent’s nightmare. Oh how my heart clenched as I forced myself to continue reading once that active shooter notification came. So many tears.
After getting through the Angelia section, I had no choice but to continue reading – searching for the dawn to come.
So much tragedy and horror and the light of new beginnings. I am truly awed at the amazing way the gun control debate was presented in here with both sides. By far the best put together romance I’ve read lately. It was done so well as to not be entirely focused on the romance so as to drown out the other immensely important areas. A beautiful tribute and remembrance to those affected by shook shootings. (Trigger warning )

INESCAPABLE IMPACTING Read!
A read that will open your eyes and invade your heart making you feel and live the words with teary eyes and an inescapable weight of sadness but will end on a happy note making the emotions I had to endure worth it all but not easy to forget the impact this read had on me even after the last word had been read. A page turning heart pounding read that is brilliantly written and definitely not to be missed.
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery
5 out of 5 stars
The light at Dawn written by K.L. Montgomery is a very emotional read especially for me right now and this story has helped me process my thoughts and emotions about a tragic event that happened the day i started reading this book.
Angelia White has three children she is a stay at home mom who bakes cakes on the side. One day she looses her youngest son Evan. In the wake of this unspeakable tragedy her marriage crumbles as her life.
Even though five years had passed since she lost Evan, Angelia is still picking up the pieces. Getting involved in the cause, so she could pour her broken heart into was just another part of the healing process.
Mark and Angelia meet at a rally and they are basically on opposite sides.
Everything Mark thought he knew and believed in was obliterated when he lost Ashleigh, along with his heart. His wounds are too fresh for Mark to keep his grip on reality. The only way he could pick up the pieces was to fight for a way to prevent any other parent from ever suffering such merciless pain.
Can Angelia and Mark help each other heal? Will they find comfort in each other lives? Can they overcome their grief to move on in their lives?
I highly recommend this book…

The Light At Dawn by K.L. Montgomery was a wonderful book that I absolutely enjoyed. Guns are a hot topic in today’s society and the author wrote the book in such a way that it wasn’t one side or the other. The characters were great and I loved reading about them. The love story was great too. There is some sad stuff that happens. I don’t want to spoil but prepare yourself if you are sensitive to death. Overall it was a great book I can’t recommend it enough. 5 star rating.
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is one of those books that are real, a work of fiction that uses today’s headlines and delves into what is happening in our world today. This is the story of Angelia White, a wife and mother, a woman who must navigate through a situation that no parent should ever have to experience. It is also the story of Mark Lyon and his journey through the darkest of days. These two tragic characters learn that no matter what your opinion may be, there is always someone going through the same or similar situation believing differently. Nobody is wrong and nobody is right you just need to learn to see things through another’s eyes and maybe compromise along the way.
I won’t lie and say this was an easy book to read. There were many instances where I had to stop and breathe. Ms. Montgomery paints a very poignant picture at times and makes the reader think “How would I react? What are my views? What is right? What is wrong?” No matter how or when you lose someone there are always questions not to mention those feelings of things never getting better. This author did a terrific job of showing that no matter how bad things are there is always a reason behind them. Read this and cheer for Angelia and Mark to get their light at dawn.
The light Of Dawn by K.L Montgomery is the first book I have read by this author. The Light at Dawn is a great read but you will need a box of tissue. In this book you will go through a bunch of emotions. The main Characters are relatable and you can honestly feel what they are going through. This book also touches on some hard subjects but makes you see both sides it is not a one sided read. I would recommend this book to everyone. Its a book you must add to your TBR Pile. I look Forward to reading more books By K.L Montgomery.
This. Book!
This story epically ruined me and that is something I have never said before. When an author and story can bring out the most raw emotions in you and ones you didn’t think you had, they deserve the 10+ star award.
This was one of those books that the first chapter consumed me and I knew life needed to be put on hold because there was no way I was coming up for air. I tried to slow down but I kept stopping what I was doing just to get wrapped up in the story again. I’m not going to sit here and give the deets because I feel this is one of those books people need to jump in blind and just grab on to that amazing rollercoaster it’ll take you on.
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve tried getting the words down to describe the heart breaking beauty I read but I can’t. All I can say is jump on this book! Everyone needs the shattering story in their life. This is one of those books that will stick with me for a good long time!
The Light at Dawn
By K.L. Montgomery
Oh how I wish I was a writer so I can put into words all the emotions surging through my entire being right now! This book completely shattered me and ripped my heart to pieces and then slowly picked up the pieces. This story left an imprint on heart and soul so deep that it will stay with me forever. The author is a literary genius and I have to thank her for giving me the opportunity to go through this journey of tragedy, life, love, hope, healing, and so much more. The author balanced both sides of some of the political issues that comes with this so expertly. I felt like I knew these characters and felt the emotion jump off the pages. All that I can say is this is an absolute must read story that will reach your heart and soul so have your tissues ready!! I highly recommend this book!
The Light At Dawn is an outstanding 5 star read by K.L. Montgomery that will drag you through every emotion possible. I must advise to have a good supply of tissues handy when you read this book as it is heart-breaking in parts.
Married mother of 3 Angelia White goes through one of those incidents which every parent must dread. That call to say that there is a shooter in their child’s school. Then the heart break of discovering that her beloved 9 year old son Evan is one of the shooter’s victims.
5 years on, now divorced Angelia is an advocate for gun control who speaks at rallies about losing her son. At a rally she meets Mark Lyon, a man with totally opposing views who believes that people have the right to own to own a gun. Despite their opposing views there is an attraction between the 2 which results in a one night stand.
When Mark’s daughter Ashleigh is then cruelly gunned down and killed at school by her ex-boyfriend, Mark’s life crumbles and he begins to question his beliefs. But fate has something else in mind for Mark and Angelia. A new life to look forward to and possibly a future together?
This book contains scenes which are very upsetting but the author does a fantastic job of dealing with these issues in a very sensitive manner. She does not take sides in the gun control debate but shows both sides of the debate, allowing the reader to make their own choices. As someone who lives in the UK where school shootings are not the issue that they are in the US, I have to honestly say that I couldn’t begin to comprehend the worry that parents have regarding their children’s safety in relation to gun control in schools.
The Light at Dawn by K.L. Montgomery is a heartbreaking, heartwarming 4 star read.
This novel hits home to how much family life changes when a tragic accident happens. This follows the lives of a family that lost a son a brother and the difficulties the family encounter as time passes by.
For Angelia losing her son was hard but what she gained in the campaign for harder laws against gun control can only be described as a miracle. Not going to spoil it by what that miracle is, turn those pages to find out.
K.L. Montgomery has written a truly wonderful book here and it will bring a tear to your eyes, page turning and heart wrenching. Enjoy
Thankfully this review is being written on a laptop and not paper, because after reading this story last week my tears are just now stopping enough to type. My heart is heavy with sadness. But my heart also has room for hope. This story hits close to home, as I have school aged children as well as a gun in our home. Of course, it is safely put away from these teenaged children. This story really touches on a few different, hard to talk about situations. Situations we see in the real world. The names may have been changed but this could be a story about you, me or even someone we know.
I have read Montgomery before but never have I ever read such a well written story. Never has any of her books made my heart feel like it does now.
Please go buy this book, even if you can’t read it just yet. Have it waiting for you when you need to let your tears fall. Have it knowing that there is a fantastic story waiting when you are ready. You won’t be sorry.
Omg like wow I’m speechless…..Well i have plenty of positives to say about this novel. The one thing you will most definitely need is a HUGE box of tissues, it will have you in a flood of tears and maybe buy an alcoholic beverage too just to help you through this amazing heart wrenching story. I just couldn’t put it down my jaw is still currently on the floor, I’m utterly gobsmacked with how fantastic this storyline is, it really pulled me in and played complete havoc with my emotions. This story really shows how life can change just like that and your world can be turned completely upside do2n, i think one thing this story does do is make you open your eye’s and realise you shouldn’t take thing’s for granted live every moment as it can be taken too quickly. Absolutely worth the read!!!
First time reader of K.L. Montgomery and woah…
Wow! What a powerful and poignant read. I can see why it brings people to tears
The tragedy of losing a loved one in such horrific circumstances would be enough to bring most to their knees and I appreciated the thought that went into the grieving in this book.
Throughout this book there were paragraphs that had me close to tears, I almost cried several times- particularly at the start and near the end. It’s when the strong people crumple that I feel it so deeply. So when Marks said
“How could you love someone broken like me? How could you love someone so damaged, someone who could never be the whole man you deserved?”
I felt it. HARD.
It is definitely not a light read. It will have you asking questions about our society, our laws, our safety and that of of our loved ones.
Kudos for tackling such a heavy subject and doing so respectfully.
The Light at Dawn is the first book I have read by K.L. Montgomery. I didn’t even know what it was about when I chose to read it. My friend said it was wonderful, so I trusted her and started reading. I am glad I did. It was a wonderful story. At first glance its a sad, tragic story, with both main characters loosing their children to school shootings. But then the twist of fate that brings them together, and all the cute romantic gestures from each of them is wonderful. Its truly a story about fate and second chances. So many awwww moments, turned a sad theme into a beautiful story that I loved. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Montgomery.
