Anna has two masters, one she hardly knows, but who makes her feel safe, the other she’s known all her life and says he needs her.
Alex wants her to be free.
Devin demands her obedience.
As Anna takes her first steps into the world, into love, into friendship, she wonders if she will ever understand either of them.
There is a subculture within our own world that you’ve only heard whispers of. … you’ve only heard whispers of. The conspiracy theorists wish they knew Anna’s story. What the conspiracy theorists think they know is only disinformation, put out there to keep them from the real story.
NOTE
This is not a stand-alone novel. This is the second of five novels that tell Anna’s story.
WARNING
This book is for grownups. This book is not for people who are easily offended, get nightmares easily, or have difficulty reading books about tough subjects. I do not glorify bad things, but bad things do happen to my poor characters. This is not your typical love story. My heroine does not fall in love and live happily ever after… at least not like the typical heroine. There is a happily ever after, but it is a long, painful journey to that end.
This book will likely offend you. This book might make you cry; it might make you throw up. It is a dark book. As my friend, Heidi, said, “It’s dark. It gets darker. It gets even darker, and then it gets even more darker. And then, just when you think it can’t get any darker, it does.”
But, don’t worry. I take you to the deep end gradually. 😉
There are many sexual situations in this series of books. People die. People get hurt. Things aren’t always truly the way they appear. The antagonist isn’t just a bad guy; he’s EVIL. My heroine’s worldview is skewed; things that may appall you are perfectly normal to her.
Any violence in this book is non-gratuitous and crucial to the plot and character development.
Do not read this if you are under the age of consent in your country. Do not get angry if the subject or actual book upsets you. If you’re reading this, you’ve been warned.

It is really hard to review this book without giving away any spoilers.
This book has several genres thrown at it but mainly erotic romance and paranormal. Normally I would avoid paranormal as it’s just not my thing… but this book is IMMENSE, gripping, terrifying, dark very very dark and thoroughly addictive.
The author has an imagination like nothing I have ever read before. No book has ever captivated as much as this one has. There is no way on earth you could even second guess where Marissa will take the characters and there is no end to the depravity that Anna has to endure time and time again. So many times I have wanted to physically harm Devin. You find yourself routing for any character to bring him down and to let Anna have a life away from him and the Manor. On the other hand I’m desperate to know what makes him tick… What made him this way, where did his depraved streak come from.
There are so many characters in this book that at times I have to stop and think Ok who were they again… but this author is very good at reminding you. The book is very descriptive, very detailed and very emotive. So much has happened in this book alone and there are another three to go. It’s hard to guess the direction this book will take at this stage. I’m so glad all the books are out because there is no way I would be able to wait for the next book to be released.
This book is not for the faint hearted. Read the authors warning and even then read under caution.
What can I say more then poor Anna. She is so messed up and doesn’t know what is happening or what she is feeling most of the time. She endures so much. I want to kill Devin, I don’t think he has a kind bone in his body. And Alex needs to hurry up and get his act together.
Drinking while reading this book is a good idea.
Entwined was way more gruesome and twisted than book 1. It’s the darkest book I’ve ever read. It’s full of heartbreak and very disturbing and I simply couldn’t put it down!! I got so lost in this book, it would be hours later and I didn’t even realize the time. Poor Anna, all she wants is to be loved but she’s so stuck in this constant merry go round of torture and abuse because Devin is the most horrible person ever and Alex is gone trying to learn how to stop Devin. Devin is the most vile inhuman piece of sick disgusting shit ever! I can’t say enough horrible things about him. He deserves all the hate words. Marissa is a master of story telling. Her mind is very VERY dark and I love it!!! Can’t wait do dive into boom 3!!!
After reading the first book I had so much hope for this series. I had heard many good things from people and was eager to jump into it.
The first book laid out a pretty decent plot that set up for a really interesting and intense story. Anna, half-immortal mistress to one cruel and evil Master and one loving and kind Master. Really sounded like something I could get behind.
Unfortunately, book two went downhill for me rather quickly. I feel like the book could have been half the size and still gotten the story told just as well.
Page after page just became the same regurgitated thing that I found myself having to make myself keep reading.
The worst horrible things happen to our main character Anna and yet I found myself not caring about her in the slightest after a while. There are so many characters that Anna either loves or hates that I can’t even get that sweet feeling when she is with a man who treats her well because next thing you know she is with someone else. Then to make matters worse, the man that we are supposed to be falling for (I think?) is no where to be found for most of this book.
I haven’t totally given up on The Life of Anna. I have hope that books 3-5 can turn this around for me, but for right now I am going to walk away for a while because I feel like a bad person for just not caring what happens to this girl in the slightest.
UNPUTDOWNABLE!!
This was as fantastic as I remembered! Oh how I loved it! I’m not even ashamed to say that this is my favorite series of all time especially because it’s so dark!! I have read quite some dark books in the last couple of years but this still tops everything.
OMG this book was killing me! I mean everything with Alex and Kurt and what Devin did and what Anna had to do. OMG! The imagination from this author amazed me. And her writing’s phenomenal! This book totally gripped me! I was captured right from the start, right were the first book left off, and was turned on by everything that was going on. There was an erotic touch to everything and although scenes were cruel they were also fascinating all at once because there are so many dark books out there but they all blend together after a while. This series though, this is another level and no other book can compare! Wow. Just wow! I am intrigued as to what will happen next especially because there are so many more books for me to read! What else is there going to happen?! Oh my, all these endless possibilities!
One thing though I must mention is that I could have done without the paranormal part. But it didn’t lesson my love for this book in any way so all’s good.
How can a book like this be such a turn on?! Well, for one, the writing was out of this world fantastic and the story was compelling, the characters fascinating and oh so intriguing. Devin was more evil than I could have ever imagined and he’s definitely my favorite villain out there. He was such a conniving bastard, obsessed with getting more powerful and knew no boundaries. I was shocked at how far he was willing to go to reach his goal when he played Anna like his puppet. He manipulated people all around and I was surprised that nobody seemed willing or able to stand against him. Devin could do anything and still get away with it, he just knew no limit and I can’t wait to see more of his evil side.
Alex. He was quite something. I liked him but didn’t understand the makings of everything he was part of and how he couldn’t protect Anna. I mean, he was her Master too so why couldn’t he put restrictions on Devin?! Anyway, Alex was a breath of fresh air. It was a huge difference to experience Anna from his eyes, the eyes of a kind man who noticed her fears, someone who cared for her and didn’t like her to be scared. Alex wanted to protect Anna but she was in such a effed up situation that there was no way for her to be protected as long as Devin could do with her what he wanted.
There were many firsts for Anna to experience in this book what with her freedom, even though limited, showed a different side of Anna which was really refreshing and I liked it a lot. But it was harder for her once she got to know the better side of life to go back on her submissive path and only be a slave. Despite her experience Alex still showed her something for the first time and it was wonderful. I was happy for her but once she got a taste of good feelings it was painful to lose them again, but she craved affection from whoever was willing to give it to her.
This book topped the first one in darkness and I was shocked at what the author came up with though I wasn’t very keen on the paranormal stuff, especially a couple of things that were too much for me to keep it still somewhat believable and not drift too far from reality. Because what fun was it when there’s no limit?!
There were some really nasty scenes, so even when you like dark books consider first if you’re really willing to go down this road of cruel punishment because after the first book I didn’t believe it could get any darker but the author proved me wrong. This one’s darker than dark. I was tense the entire time through this read because of how cruel it was.
Big surprises and revelations awaited me in this story that will surely make some interesting turns along the way. I don’t understand everything about the brotherhood and their makings yet but I’m sure that the next books will bring more light into this. One thing I know for sure though is how brutal they’re to everyone even their own kind.
I can’t wait to dive into the next book but I think I might need to take a break first because these books really are a lot to take in.
WARNING! Read the author’s note! Read the reviews! This book is not for everyone !!
I’ve read a lot of dark stories, and if there is a warning attached, I’m all over it! It’s like a triple dog dare! I’ve got to read!! But never have I ever read a story this dark. I’m beginning to think Anna’s story takes place in Hell, and Devin is Satan himself. Make a list of all the horrors you can imagine, and that is Anna’s life. This demonic roller coaster is keeping me up past my bedtime…I must see her story to its end…and hope Devin meets Karma…
If you feel up to joining this dark journey, read this book…I dare you…
5+ Stars isn’t even enough for this book it is so well written
