In this utterly charming debut — perfect for fans of Cecelia Ahern’s and Allison Winn — one woman sets out to complete her old list of childhood goals, and finds that her lifelong dreams lead her down a path she never expects.
1. Go to Paris
2. Have a baby, maybe two
3. Fall in love
Brett Bohlinger seems to have it all: a plum job, a spacious loft, an irresistibly handsome boyfriend. All … love
Brett Bohlinger seems to have it all: a plum job, a spacious loft, an irresistibly handsome boyfriend. All in all, a charmed life. That is, until her beloved mother passes away, leaving behind a will with one big stipulation: In order to receive her inheritance, Brett must first complete the life list of goals she’d written when she was a naïve girl of fourteen. Grief-stricken, Brett can barely make sense of her mother’s decision — her childhood dreams don’t resemble her ambitions at age thirty-four in the slightest. Some seem impossible. How can she possibly have a relationship with a father who died seven years ago? Other goals (Be an awesome teacher!) would require her to reinvent her entire future. As Brett reluctantly embarks on a perplexing journey in search of her adolescent dreams, one thing becomes clear. Sometimes life’s sweetest gifts can be found in the most unexpected places.

This book was a delight. Incredibly fast paced and well written, I practically read it in one sitting, and finished with a wide smile on my face. Well done!
One of those “stay up reading until you fall asleep, book in hand”.
Although the premise is not realistic for everyone, the characters are interesting, genuine and true to life. The story is uplifting and gives me hope for the true nature of life and what’s most important.
This was a new concept for me and I really enjoyed the read. I felt it was well written and had some humor thrown in. I would highly recommend this one. I will be looking for other books written by this author. I liked her writing style.
This was such a touching story! I highly recommend this book.
I found this book while looking for another, I read a few lines and was hooked. This book makes you look deep into your soul and ask yourself many questions. You will chuckle, you will have tears in your eyes, you will cheer and yes you will not like a few people but mostly you will feel.
LOVED this book! I was pulled into the story and the tears flowed in the very first chapter! This story centers around the only daughter who thought she would inherit her mother’s business, only to find out that her mother had different ideas for her. In order to inherit her share she had to accomplish items on her childhood life list. We get …
Imagine for a moment that upon your mother’s death you are asked to live out items from a bucket list you wrote when you were a teenager. Before reading the first page, I was already thinking about the sort of things I would have written on a list when I was younger compared to a list I would write now, as an adult. My instinct is to tell you that …
What a great idea for a book, and so relatable as to what do we REALLY want in life?

I’ll be looking for more of this author’s work in the future! I think that this book would be a great candidate for book clubs to consider reading. I can just see a group of people sitting around discussing …
This book is much more than chick lit, it is a well thought out story that catches your interest from the beginning. Brett Bohlinger, is from a wealthy family, 34 years of age and at a bit of a lose as to how to proceed with her life after her mother passes away and leaves her with an interesting challenge. She needs to complete a list of goals …
Great read. Didn’t want it to end. Looking for more by this author.
I loved witnessing the main character taking all the small steps to empower her life with choices that resonated with her spirit… in spite of herself!
This was Lori Nelson Spielman first book and it for me was a home run!!!
Love the characters especially Brett!!!
Sarah Addison Allen, one of my favorite authors suggested this book. All I can say is thank you Sarah….you were spot on!! Great book with unusual plot, it will make you laugh, cry…feel sorry for the main character…and cheer at the end.
