The #1 New York Times bestselling guide to decluttering your home and the inspiration for the hit Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.ONE OF CNN’S MOST INFLUENTIAL BOOKS OF THE DECADE Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles? Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole … noodles?
Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you’ll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever. The KonMari Method, with its revolutionary category-by-category system, leads to lasting results. In fact, none of Kondo’s clients have lapsed (and she still has a three-month waiting list).
With detailed guidance for determining which items in your house “spark joy” (and which don’t), this international bestseller featuring Tokyo’s newest lifestyle phenomenon will help you clear your clutter and enjoy the unique magic of a tidy home—and the calm, motivated mindset it can inspire.

Inspired me to declutter. Wonderful advice.
A helpful and wake up to cleaning up your life.
Love this book.
Thought provoking
This book helped organize my thoughts! I love how having a clean house equals space to think, but this book also helped me get rid of clutter! I don’t just dust clutter, it is now gone. I love that I now also respect the items and things in my life even more. The Kondo magic. Love it.
Good book to help you simplify your life.
Nothing that common sense wouldn’t figure out
Life changing if honestly applied.
If you read the book and do exactly what Marie Kondo tells you to do, it really will change your life. I recommend this book to Everyone! Do yourself a favor and get it right now.
Some of the instructions for achieving organization are a bit extreme, but there is a lot of valuable information to get the process started.
Useful tips but a bit radical. I cannot purge as much as the writer suggests.
I have read many books on organization. This has been a quest during most of my adult years. I like her detailed instructions. I like how she is purposeful about the decision to keep things. She inspires you to envision what you would like your home to be like and helps you set out to attain the goal. This would be a no no in her advice, but I actually let it play in the background while I was downsizing in a major way recently. She inspired me…hope she does you too!
Great ideas and a new way of thinking about the stuff we own.
Helpful but a little too OCD for me.
Inspires one to take a look in that closet and see where are all the items in your house you can be happy without.
I thought I didn’t have a lot of clothes until I followed her suggestions and I had way more than I needed or wanted. Carting off 4 large garbage sacks to donate, you can get the picture. I never did get into talking with the giveaways though. I am still working out the rest of the house but I already feel lighter.
Great read to assist in getting rid of stuff!
I read a reference about this book in another book and ordered it online. It helped to get my own stuff organized. I have realized that I am actually using only 15% of my clothes, so thats when I went on a purge session. Very liberating to let go of the skinny pants that were in maybe a decade ago 😉
I am recommending this book to anyone that isn’t feeling joy when surrounded by plethora of stuff.
Delightful take on our relationship with possessions. Great purging & tidying tips!
