This book is so amazingly good, I couldn’t stop listening, I was trapped for the beginning, fully immersed into everything going on.
The characters are amazing, perfectly written, with amazing personalities and chemistry between everyone of them.
Caiden Cavendish and Winter’s chemistry from the beginning was of the charts, every time they were near each other you could feel the tension radiating through them…
The Four are great, I love their connection, the camaraderie, loyalty toward each other.
This book has everything to blew up your mind, hot amazingly characters, friendship, hate, love, hate-love, steam, funny moments, steamy romance, intrigue, suspense…

Steele has me all in with this fantastic story, and I need to know what is going to happen next!
Part of the intrigue for me revolves around the storytelling, and casting Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas is genius. Both have fantastic voices and their accents amazing. The draw for me is the emotions though, and they bring it all to the forefront. It’s edgy and suspenseful, and each nuance and inflection brings more thrills. It’s a fantastic team for this book.

Burning Up My Kindle, So hot!
This one burned up my Kindle as Caiden and Winter are smoking’ hot! Caiden is one of those guys you don’t know if you should kiss him or knee him in the nuts. I like that Winter isn’t intimidated by Caiden. Both characters are wonderful and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Yessssss! What a great start to this duet! I absolutely loved it, fell in love with Winter and Caiden! And Cassius, Weston, and Zayde? Oh yeah, I love them too.
This one just kept getting better and better with each page and I was so thoroughly invested in The Four and Winter, and trying to figure out how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together.
This was my first my Becca Steele, and it certainly won’t be my last! I don’t often take a chance on new to me authors, but I’m so glad I did with this one! I can’t wait to see how things come together in part two!
FIVE FORBIDDEN STARS for Winter and Caiden !!!
This is the first book that I’ve read by Becca Steele and I absolutely love it!!!
Always when I start reading a book by a new author to me there is a little fear that maybe I won’t like it.
The same was with this book.
But…
Becca totally surprise me and I’m really glad because of that.
I love her writing style.
I also love the storyline. It’s simple but very interesting which kept my attention through the whole book.
“The Lies We Tell” is the first book from “The Four” series. It’s dark bully, college suspense romance with a forbidden and enemies to lovers tropes.
Winter is a female character who I love from the beginning of the story. She is brave and she will do anything to protect people she loves even if that means putting herself in real danger.
Caiden is a male character you won’t fell in love at first but after he shows his true face you will love him.
Winter and Caiden’s relationship is forbidden.
Trough the whole book they had a lot of ups and downs.
At first, they hated each other and then they felt attracted to each other, but they fought against it until they eventually fell in love with each other.
Besides them, I also love the other three boys Weston (Caiden’s brother), Cassius (my favorite ), and Zayde (mysterious guy ).
I hope that all boys will get their own books !
The book ended up with cliffhanger and I can’t wait to find out what will happen next !
If you love reading college and suspense romance, then this book is definitely for you!
Highly recommended!!!
P.S. Cassius is mine !!!
Winter ends up moving in with her mother and stepfather after her Dad’s death. She hasn’t been close to her mother for some time. Caiden is one of her stepbrothers and part of a group called the “Four” in the local school. He instantly dislikes Winter due to not getting along with her mother. The bullying hides the lust and attraction between them. A cliffhanger makes me want book 2 now.
Bully romance books are kind of a trend lately, so obviously I couldn’t pass one with such good reviews. This was my first book from the author, and I have to say that it was a brilliant introduction to her work!!!
Winter lost her dad a couple of months ago. She’s only left with her memories and the urge to find out what really happened to him, since she doesn’t believe that his death was an accident. That’s how she finds herself at Alstone College. Transferring there, it’s the perfect excuse to get closer to her mother. A mother that abandoned her at the age of 5 and never bothered to reach out to her.
On her first day at campus she catches the eyes of The Four: Caiden, Zayde, Cassius and Weston. They are the Kings of Alstone College and they are not happy with her being there. Caiden and Weston are actually her stepbrothers. Her mother has been married to their father for years. Caiden makes clear from the start that he despises her. The hatred he feels is transparent from the first time their eyes meet.
“You and Cade, you’re…fire. A blazing inferno, burning everything in your path.”
Their relationship is burning hot, first fueled by hatred and then by desire. Winter has one goal, but Caiden keeps popping whenever she is. There are dark secrets than neither of them is aware about. What makes this story different is the underlining mystery. It’s intriguing how they have to come together to solve it. The suspense was killing me, and I soon realized that what is happening isn’t child’s play.
I was sucked into the story from the start and I was right there with the characters while searching for the truth. The Four are sinfully sexy and definitely will be your next obsession! Also, the cover is fire!!!!!
***4,5 “THAT shouldn’t have happened!!!” stars***
“You may tell the greatest lies and wear a brilliant disguise, but you can’t escape the eyes of the one who sees right through you.” -Tom Robbins, Villa Incognito
For the record, I was seeing this book all over instagram and i became obsessed before i even known what was all this deal about…
I didn’t even care for the blurb!!!! One stare on the cover and i was a goner!!!
And then this book checked out all the boxes for me…
Enemies to lovers? Check.
Stepbrother? Check.
Four hot men? Check and drooling.
A spitfire who’s looking for answers? Check.
Secrets, lies, unexpected twists, scary moments, funny moments, steamy moments. Check and check and check.
And a huge motherfucking cliffy? Check, even though unwelcomed. Bahaha…
“Watch your back, Winter. You’re out of your depth, and you don’t know how to swim in these waters.”
Well, Winter is starting a new life in the Alstone College after the tragic death of her father…
She is determined to uncover the mystery around his death and in order to do so, she has to come closer to the woman that abandoned her…
But from the first moment, she is catching the attention of the Four and a weird game is starting between them and especially, with Caiden, the Alpha Asshole of the group…
The Four are having a beef with her for unknown reasons…
These guys and especially Caiden are toying with her all the time… and she can’t understand how she can be drown to one of them!!!! And the fact that Caiden and Weston are her stepbrothers doesn’t help.
“The best thing to do was to keep my head down and stay focused on my goals. I only had two: find out what had happened to my dad, and get my degree. Then I was getting as far away from Alstone as I could.”
“You don’t even know anything about me. How dare you make assumptions?”
“I know enough,” he said darkly. “And I promise you, right here, right now, that I’m going to do everything I can to make your life miserable. I don’t trust you. I don’t want you here. We don’t want you here. Leave or you will regret it.”
Honestly, i don’t know what more can i say about this book, other than the Four knew how to captivate everyone around them, including me… Bahahaha…
Yes, they sucked for what they did to Winter, but now, I can understand their reasons why they were acting like that!!!!
Also, there is a huge attraction between Caiden and Winter that either of them can ignore for a long time…
But the secrets around them are dominating their present and they have to work together in order to get in the truth.
Will this thing between them could work???
”Don’t look at me like that.”
”Like what?
”Like you want me to fuck you.”
“One thing straight, Snowflake. This doesn’t mean I like you. I don’t. Don’t expect us to be friends. But the Four will have your back, and we expect you to have ours. Understood?”
Well, I loved Winter very much…
I loved how determined she was to seek out justice for her father…
I loved that she wasn’t backing down on the Four’s threats…
I loved how well she was fitting with Cade…
And i love her relationship with all of them.
“I could feel the heat of his body and for one moment I forgot where we were and that he hated me. Could he feel it, too? This unwanted, magnetic pull between us?”
“You and Cade -you’re fire. A blazing inferno, burning everything in your path.”
Kaiden was a big ass in the beginning, but still charming in an angry and dark way.
He had his own demons to fight and Winter was fucking with his mind…
He hated her in his mind, but his heart was craving her.
He was in a constant war with himself in everything that had to do with Winter.
And even though he didn’t have the right, he was a possesssive jerk and I loved him!!!! LOL!!!
“My stepmother was poison, her venom infecting our lives, slowly killing what was left of our family.”
“My physical reaction made me hate her even more. I could get any woman on cam;pus I wanted with a snap of my fingers, and I fucking hated that my mind had fixated on the one person I despised.”
As for the rest of the guys???
Well, i loved each of them for different reasons and I’m dying to read their own stories in the future.
Weston was Caiden’s younger brother and he was a sweetheart…. From the first moment, he was the most well-mannered toward Winter. He is also a hightech genius.
Cassius was the most easygoing guy!!! He was a manwhore and the one with the jokes….
He was also the one that was provoking all the time Caiden and it was delicious to witness it!!!
Zayde was mysterious and broody and it seems the most dangerous of them all with shady connections and dark silence… But for a reason, i’m craving him too.
Cassius, Weston, Zayde and Caiden. They’re all sexy as f#ck, and they know it. Spoiled rich boys who think they’re above everyone else.
The Four had a unique bond between them and they were working as a unit and that was remarkable…
I loved them for many reasons and one of them is how they were treating Winter after…
Nope, i won’t say more….
I just need to read the next part on Winter and Caiden’s story!!!!
“Somehow, against all odds, we’d gone from enmity and mistrust to friendship and mutual respect.”

“That-”
“-shouldn’t have happened? Or were you going to say it was a mistake, again? That you don’t want me?… Yeah, I know. I know all the lies you tell yourself, that you tell me.”
***I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review***
This was a great bully romance! I’ve been reading so many bully romances and I just can’t get enough! The Lies We Tell was so much more than I expected! It was steamy and twisted! I really loved all the characters!! I can’t wait to start book 2!!

I love the Four!! This book drew me in right from the start with the allure of the Four running Alstone College. I love each of them and the way their connections with Winter grow with special moments tying them together. But not everything is as it seems, and the lies, secrets, and mystery woven between these characters quickly becomes addicting! I can’t wait for the next book!
This is my first Becca Steel Book. The mystery and suspense had me hooked from the beginning. The Four (Zayde, Cassius, Weston and Caiden) are so intriguing. Winter is so refreshing. She holds her own against the guys even with their alpha attitudes. The hot and cold attitude Caiden showed towards Winter was entertaining. That cliffy at the end though. I need the next book now! I look forward to more from this author as I really enjoyed her writing style.
New to me author, Becca Steele managed to surprise me in the best way, with this thrilling and suspenseful story. The Lies We Tell is the first book in The Four series and it’s a crazy ride that got me hooked from the beginning.
Winter Huntington transferred to Alstone College to be closer to her estranged mother but also to dig into her fathers’ mysterious death. But things become complicated when she meets Caiden Cavendish, one of the most popular boys on campus and her stepbrother. Caiden and his group, The Four, seem to have something against her from their first encounter. They are watching her every move and try to make her feel unwelcome. But Winter is determined to not let them bully her around, her main focus is to discover what really happened to her father.
The attraction between Winter and Caiden is palpable and scorching hot. He tries really hard to keep a cold demeanor towards her and pretends to hate her, but every time he’s near Winter, he becomes possessive and all he wants is to touch her. And in returned Winter seems to be fascinated with him, her body responding to his nearness in ways she never thought possible. I loved their banter and constant teasing, it was a battle of wills between them. It was a slow burn romance, but when they finally got together their chemistry was explosive. Winter is a headstrong and determined young woman, she manages to keep the boys in check and doesn’t take kindly to their bullshit. And Caiden is the embodiment of a Greek god and alpha male in all its splendor. He has trust issues rooted deep, but Winter manages to bring his walls down and make him open up to her.
The secondary characters were also delightful. I loved Cassius with his witty comments and a relaxed attitude. And Weston was so sweet and nerdy. Even Zade, with his menacing personality, managed to make the story even more appealing. They are so different from one another but their group dynamic works perfectly that way.
The writing was engaging, the pacing of the story was good and I enjoyed the dual 1st person POV. There were many twists and turns and suspenseful moments and the cliffhanger at the end got me totally by surprise. I can’t wait to know what happens next! If you like the enemies to lovers trope you definitely need to give this book a try. I recommend it!
The Lies We Tell is Book one in the series The Four.
This book checks all the boxes for a brilliant and exciting slightly dark romance.
•Looking for a hot sexy alpha male ( this book has 4 that will blow your mind!
•Relatable main female character (Winter is a great combination of smart, sassy, bold and uncertain that anyone will want to get to know better).
•Hot sexy romance
•Elements of danger and suspense
• A mystery
The characters are interesting, entertaining, and full of personality. The book is a brilliant mix of several different tropes such as: forbidden step-siblings/bully/enemies to lovers and more. Becca Steele expertly crafted a storyline that leaves you guessing and wanting more! I couldn’t put it down.
This book does end on a cliffhanger but it’s worth the mental pain of waiting for the next book to be released.
I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and solve the mystery.
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I was so enthralled I sat in my bed for hours and read. Its 2am and I have to be up in 3.5 hours but I dont care. I needed to finish. So good!
First off let me say I love Winter and how tough she is. And these boys. Mannn. Cade is just mouthwatering. And possessive. And broody. Not much more I can say except I am in love. There were times when I thought Winter would get down with all the guys. I WAS HERE FOR IT THOUGH! Cass was hilarious and I loved when he would kiss on Winter to make Caiden jealous. I was pleasantly surprised with Z towards the end and West was cute as hell. I cannot wait to see what happens next! 5 stars all the way
Omg Winter and Caidens story is Hot and fiery.
The love and hate they have for eachother is just wow.
Caiden was not nice most of the time but thats what made me love him
Cassius was a crack up. loved how he loved to stir Caiden up with Winter.
Weston was a sweetie and just genuine. His love as a brother for Winter was so cute.
Zayde was a very strong willed person and kept to him self but when needing him he was there straight away
I felt for Winter having to deal with a mother like she had.
Cant wait for the next book.
The Lies We Tell is book 1 in this new series by Becca Steele and I absolutely loved it. It is unlike her London Suite series because this series is darker. I think that’s why I loved it so much. If you like strong heroines and alphahole heros, then story is for you. Winter is thrown into the world of The Four and they are not happy about it in the beginning. The Four do not trust Winter and think she’s there to cause trouble and plot with her mother. Little do they know the real reason she is there. I was hooked from the very first page and didn’t want the story to end. It flowed very well and that cliff-hanger!! Seriously, I NEED Book 2 NOW!! Hopefully it’s not too long of a wait. YOU NEED to read this book.
