Winter Huntington is a woman on a mission, she knows her father’s death was not an accident and she will stop at nothing to find the truth. Even if it means cozying up to her long lost deceitful mother to find her answers. When she transferred schools to be closer to her mother she expected some inconvenience, but nothing prepared her the wrath of the famous campus group “The Four.”
These men are on a mission of their own and having Winter on campus has her a little closer to them than they would like, so they decide their best course of action is to watch her like a hawk. But after a little time of following their mysterious new “friend” they discover she has a few secrets of her own, ones that change everything they thought they knew! And unite them in ways they never saw coming…
The Lies We Tell is a spellbinding little page-turner that held me captive from the first page until the last. From the opening pages these characters drew me in and with each page that followed the deeper I fell into their world and the more obsessed I became with them. I HAD to know everything about them!! Winter is one tough cookie and I admired her determination and strength as she went toe-to-toe with these men. She gave as good as she got and certainly kept them on their toes. I loved watching her fall for broody Caiden and wrap the rest of the group around her little finger, it didn’t take long for her to change their initial thoughts about her and have them come to love her. I am dying to know what the pages of next installment hold for these characters, especially after that cliffy! If you like edgy, dramatic, suspenseful and steamy stories then I highly suggest you pick this one up, it’s pages are bound to have you enthralled!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
I received a free advanced copy of The Lies We Tell to read and review. I have to say I was really surprised that I was drawn in so quickly. It usually takes me a chapter or two to really get into a book, but not this one. Winter is new to town and meets the Four at a party. They are the hottest most gorgeous men she has ever laid eyes on, to bad they have already decided to hate her…but why? They don’t even know her.
Caiden is one of the Four, he is a God to the women around him. He never has to worry about a woman taking care of his needs, they beg him for it. Unfortunately the one girl that sets him on fire is the one he hates with every fiber in him, okay so not every fiber…one particular part of him, wants every part of her. He knows she is the exact replica of the woman that has destroyed him and for that reason she is OFF limits to the Four, especially himself. Now if he could just stay away. The fire and passion between Winter and Cade is off the charts but with all the lies and secrets can they ever really trust each other. Come on peeps come find out. Get yours today!!!
Not your regular enemies to lovers story!
DAMN!! I am reeling after finishing this book. My head is spinning with all kinds of conspiracies and my stomach is in my throat from that shocking and freaking intense ending. I think I am having heart palpitations – it’s ready to burst out of my chest!!!
This story is not your average enemies to lovers story. There is this underlying mystery that ends up taking over the story. It slowly gets its grips into you and you forget about everything else.
I loved all of the amazing characters in this story. The sexy alphaholes and their domineering and possessive ways. Plus there’s Winter, who is one tough and very smart woman in the mix. She knows just how to dish it back to The Four. She will not let them intimidate her. She is the perfect fit to The Four’s group.
Winder and Cade are freaking intense when together. The sexual tension between them oozed off the pages. It was smoking hot and my kindle was ready to combust!
Winter, Cade, Cass, West and Z had me laughing at their interactions and their antics. They are slowly forming a tight bond that will help them solve this mystery.
The suspense and the plot completely sucked me in and after that freaking cliffhanger of an ending I need book two now – I need answers.
Phenomenal writing, with amazing characters and plot so thick you could cut it with a knife!
This series is going to be one hell of a ride!
I had every intention of only reading half of The Lies We Tell today so that I could do some adulting and finish it tomorrow. That didn’t happen, once I started I was so consumed by this story that I didn’t even attempt to stop.
Winter is new to Alstone College and as much as she’s there for a degree, she’s also looking for answers. Winter was full of determination and had a backbone of steel, in any situation she was ready to charge ahead with a level of feisty that could bring a grown man to his knees. Caiden seems to be the one who calls the shots amongst The Four. He’s confident, authoritative, and all the other traits that make me fall for the biggest alphaholes.
The animosity that Caiden has for Winter is as palpable as the chemistry that burns between them. Between the menacing looks and biting retorts they share the tension burning between them becomes explosive.
It seemed The Four were split down the middle on their opinions of Winter but the friendlier she becomes with West and Cass the more Caiden’s possessiveness grows and seeing the buildup was nothing short of enthralling.
All of the characters came together to try and find answers but it seemed they were up against more than they had known.
I will be immediately reading book 2. The flow of the storyline had me turning pages as fast as I could as it laid out an intricate tale of secrets, lies, and mystery. Caiden and Winter were explosive and dynamic between The Four was full of intensity and witty banter to add some moments of lightness.
This is the first time I am reading this author and I am speechless. This is the first book in the series and I was hooked to it from the first page and couldn’t stop reading until I was done which was a matter of few hours . The story is captivating and the suspense was mind blowing. Winter relocates and starts university which is closer to her mom to lives after her father died in suspicious circumstances. Caiden has his own reasons for not trusting Winter . I liked all the main characters and how the story unfolds . The suspense literally was killing and the cliffhanger. I can’t wait to read how the story will unfold. Can’t wait to read more books by this author and of course reading the next book to see how Caiden and Winter’s story will unfold
I ended up really liking this book and can’t wait for the next one.
Holy crap! This book was so good. My mind is still spinning from all the secrets. Full of tension and suspense, this book will have you on the edge of your seat. I loved every one of the characters. They’ve grabbed my heart and I need to know more about them. The plot was fast-paced and I couldn’t put my Kindle down. I can’t wait to read more!
The Lies We Tell is not a standalone, and the subtitle of “enemies to lovers college bully romance” kind of says it all. I like that the characters are at a college level rather than high school. The story was engaging and I’m interested to see where the rest series goes.
I listened to the Audible version. Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas did an excellent job with their performances.

I absolutely love this book and I’m sure I’m not the only one that completely fell in love with the Four! How could you not?! I also love a good mystery. Add in stepbrother and enemies to lovers and I’m so in! I devoured this book! Becca Steele really brought her A game here and her writing was phenomenal!
Winter moves to a new university after her dad dies to get closer to her mother because she believes her mother had something to do with her dads death. That’s where she meets her new stepbrothers and their friends. The four sexiest guys on campus. They rule the school and their families rule the town. When Winter makes her appearance Caiden is on high alert and hates her before he even could talk to her because he completely despises her ratchet mother. Is Winter real? Or is she working with her mother?
This was my first book by the author and I always love a good bully romance so I was excited to dive into this one. Winter is on a mission to get some answers following her father’s death, and she believes her mother might be behind it somehow. In order to get those those answers, she has to try and get close to her, which also means getting to know her mother’s new husband and his sons, Caiden and West, who are part of The Four.
I was hooked into the story from the start. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and I enjoyed the twists and turns throughout the story. I think Winter and Caiden have some serious chemistry when Cade isn’t being hot and cold. I really like Cassius and how he tries to push Caiden’s buttons at times and I like his relationship with Winter. The Lies We Tell ends on a cliffhanger so I can’t wait to see what happens in book two.
I didn’t know what to expect with this audiobook and boy was I pleasantly surprised!!! I am unfamiliar with the narrators and I thought for the most part they were good. I think Gregory did a better job all around (not that its a competition) but he did a good job with all the different voices. Kelli on the other hand had some issues with narrating Caiden when he was anger/overreacting. Her voice came out cackling/screechy when Caiden was angry (which was quite a bit in book 1). I thought her portrayal of all the other voices was good, just not so much Caiden. That is why I couldn’t give it a 5 stars. Besides that I will definitely listen to these narrators again and cannot wait for book 2!!
For the story, I was sucked in right away. I loved Winter and this intriguing mystery. I felt for her with the parts with her dad, it totally hit me right in the feels. I loved the other 4, even Zayde haha. I think West is adorable (love me a hot nerd!!) and Cass is funny and just so charismatic you can’t help smiling. Zayde has the quiet bad boy down pat. I loved seeing his walls come down for a couple minutes here and there hahaha (esp him sticking his tongue out in the photo hahaha). I will say this could have easily become a RH but I understand that Caiden is so possessive it wouldn’t have worked hahaha. I was getting hot and cold vibes from Cass though haha. I am super interested to see what happens with Cass’s sister and some of the other guys hahaha. I already started reading book 2 because I needed to know what happened after that gut wrenching cliffhanger haha. I will be definitely ordering book 2 once its available later this summer hopefully

This was one of these stories where I could not put my kindle down! The characters were perfectly written! I fell in love with each one of the boys because of their different quirks. Winter was a badass that stood up for herself and i loved it! She didn’t take anyone’s sh*t! The Lies We tell had the perfect amount of steam, comedy and mystery! I can’t wait to dive into tbe next book!
This is a light bully romance that is heavy on steam and mystery. Set in England where some of my favorite bully romances are is a steamy stepbrother/sister attraction that is filled with denial, venom, distrust and like all good bully romances undeniable chemistry and smexy times. Winter and Caiden’s taboo attraction won’t be denied even as both of them are dealing with an avid dislike and suspicion of her mother. They team up together to try and uncover the mystery of her father’s death but forces are trying to prevent them from achieving their goal. There’s mystery, danger and a whole lot of hotness as Caiden’s Caiden’s friends West, Zayde & Cass join in their exploits.
Can’t wait for book 2 in the series.

The Lies we Tell is book 1 in The Four series by Becca Steele is the opening pages to this series and what a start it is.
Winter has transferred universities. Her gut telling her that her father’s death was not an accident. So heading to a new school close by to her estranged mother to try and find some answers. But things are not as they seem. And the lies that keep herself just keep building. But when she crosses path with her stepbrother and His FOUR, things are not going as planned and let the games begin.
This story is very captivating in that I was hooked from the beginning. The need to know who, what, when, and where were strong and the push and pull chemistry between Winter and Caiden spilling over the pages.
OH, and did I mention the CLIFFHANGER at the end? Holy Smokes what an ending and I am diving into book 2 now!!!
The Lies We Tell by Becca Steele is an enemies to lovers college bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas.
This is the first book of Becca’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. Becca hooked me from the very beginning. I absolutely loved the kindship between The Four (Caiden, Zayde, Cassius and Weston). I loved the chemistry between Caiden and Winter. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that was no surprise since it’s the first book in the series. I can’t wait for the next book in the series The Secrets We Hide to be released on audible.
Kelli and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. I loved that they both used different tones/voices for each characters. It really helps bring the story to life.
I would highly recommend this book if you love Enemies to Lovers, College Bully Romances, or Suspense Romances.

This was my first Becca Steele’s book, and won’t be my last! This is the first book in The Four Series, an enemies to lovers and a light Bully Romance. Note: This isn’t a reverse harem. The author did an amazing job with the plot and the world building. Winter (Snow) and Caiden’s story is fast paced, suspenseful, and filled with twists and turns. Their chemistry is intense and beautiful. The cast of supporting characters is great. ”The Four” rule the Alstone College. This group is composed of four: Caiden and Weston (Winter’s stepbrothers), and Zayde and Cassius, their two friends. The characters are well developed, and the storyline is intriguing and captivating. The mystery unfolds at a great pace, and ends with a cliffhanger. This first book in the Series is a Gem, and I loved it and I highly recommend it! Now, I am not so patientely awaiting for the next book in the Series, The Secrets We Hide! Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas did an outstanding job with the narration. I love the accents. #AudiobookObsessionVIP #PinkFlamingoProductions
The Lies We Tell: An Enemies to Lovers College Bully Romance (The Four Book 1) is highly intriguing at the onset until the very end. I absolutely loved this creation the author has shaped. The characters are compelling with complex personalities. “The Four” Caiden, Weston, Cassius and Zayde are serenic. Intricatly placed pieces of the puzzle to solve the mystery are entwined into the narrative. The writing style is sensational. Brimming with angst, mistrust, passion, revenge, suspense, secrets, lies, and a hidden agenda rolled up into one torrid listen. The finale cliffy is a colossal and will have you on tenterhooks waiting for more.
Narrated by Kelli Tager, Gregory Salinas a remarkable dual naration performance brought out by their tone and enunciations. I loved Kelli’s portrayal of Winter. Her resonance was exhilarating and I could listen to her all day long. Gregory Salinas british cadence was intoxicating to listen to.
Absolutely loved listening to this audio and cannot wait for audio two.

This is the first book I’ve read/listen to by Becca Steele. This is definitely one to listen to again once all the audiobooks are done. The worse part is that it’s a brutal cliffhanger!! UGH! I will be hunting down the books. The book is well written with a great storyline. I loved the characters. They did take some time to grow on me, but The Four most definitely caught my attention. Caiden and Winter have a long way to go, but their beginning was heart stopping! The mystery part of this book is anguish producing. Cannot wait for the next audiobook!
Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas were excellent narrators. They had this book running like a movie in my head. easy to listen to with great performances.

A Brilliantly Captivating Story! A Must Listen
The Lies We Tell: An Enemies to Lovers College Bully Romance
The Four Book 1
By: Becca Steele
Narrated by: Kelli Tager, Gregory Salinas
Wow, just wow, I loved everything about this book. I am not sure who this is my first book written by Becca Steele I can only say it will definitely not be my last. She created a fascinating story it grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it straight to the end. The characters are realistic and easy to relate to, OMG, the four, Caiden, Weston, Zayde and Cassius, according to them, the kings of Alstone College. Caiden, is a triple threat, alpha, angsty, arrogant, maybe and another “A” word that ends with hole too. Zayde is a close second with his alpha-tude. The girls want these guys the other guys want to be them. Winter has her own agenda, she transfers to Alstone with that in mind. On the first day she is faced with her own challenge, “The Four”, they hate her and she does not know why. The hating continues, with Caiden in the lead, Caiden and Weston are her step-brothers, but that does not matter Caiden has it in for her and want to make her life a living hell. I loved how everything plays out in this book, it is brilliantly plotted and there is never a dull moment with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments and some hot sexy times and romance. Becca Steele thank you for this brilliant story, I am looking forward to what comes next, I hope it comes to Audible soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas are perfectly casted to bring these characters and their story to life. They are talented narrators and entertaining storytellers. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, humanizing them, giving them their own voice, personality and attitude. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. BTW, Salinas’ British accent was amazing! Thank you for a fantastic listen
