Oh boy what a book this is the 3rd book in this series and I swear I don’t know which one is my favorite their all freaking good and each one keeps getting better and better.
I definitely would recommend reading this, but if I was you I’d start with the first one because each book is special in their own way.
Definitely a must read kind of story
This is just my opinion and my review
5*
Reece hasn’t been herself the loss of her first love Hunter, the plane accident that caused the death of her father and disabilities for her mum. Thinking she’s doing the right thing she leans on Clay. How wrong can a girl be, is it to late?
Wyatt needs the help of Alec to look into Clay, needing to get closer he thinks Reece could be involved, how wrong could Alec be?
My heart melted with the character of Alec the way he was with Reece’s mum the compassion and care, and my heart broke for Reece and all she had suffered.
You guessed already downloaded the next book “All The Wasted Time”
Another fantastic story
Another hit in this series!! Alec and Reese are perfect!! She’s so giving and caring, worrying about everyone but her self and that’s kinda how she got in the position she is in now. And Reese is equally as caring but he does have him motives for protecting Reese at first. Read to get the full experience of this series!!
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book
This was a good read. Looking forward to Wyatt’s book.
This has been a great romantic suspense read for me. And my first book from the author.
Usually in reading, I easily get distracted and worse, bored in the first few chapters of a book if the story doesn’t intrigue me nor it doesn’t do anything for me. But with this book, I was held captive and I didn’t even realize that there wasn’t much coupling happening until it happened. That was how absorbed I was just with the story alone. And I am very all aware with this kind of scenes in what I’m reading.
Needless to say, I love the way how the story went. It has a quick pacing and not too much unnecessary drama. It sticks to its plot and the characters were both very likeable, which is very important in a reader like me.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series (and this is book 3) and i had no problem catching up or relating to the (other) characters. Actually, it just made me want to read the others as well.
I recommend reading this if you’re into men-in-action books.
Thank you Michelle Heard for this amazing world and the characters that call it home. Reece and Alec meet when he is hired to be her bodyguard and report her movements to her fiance. Reece is trying to get out from under the man who seems to have taken over her everything and now she has a new shadow in the form of Alec. Alec goes undercover to try to bring her fiance down, but never counted on Reece changing everything. These two will go through a lot to get what they both deserve in the end. Adding the dynamic of Reece’s mom, who is hilarious, made this a story I couldn’t put down.
Alec is sent to work undercover and ends up being Reece’s bodyguard to try to get information on Clay Roberts. All he needs to do is get proof that she is involved but the more time he spends with Reece and his mum the more he starts to wonder if she is involved.
Reece realises that she needs to have more in her life and decides it’s time to get away from Clay and does with Alec’s help.
When Reece is pushed to tell her friend Wyatt everything, she also finds out that Alec has been working under cover and feels everything she thought she felt wasn’t real, it was just a job.
With some help from Reece’s mother being sneaky, Alec realises that Reece was falling for him and she’s hurt, but more he’s been lying, he cares for her to, but can he make her realise she was more than a job to him, he wants to replace the lies with the truth and hope she will give him a chance.
Reece knows that she’s falling for Alec, but can she give him her heart.
Love the brother from another mother Alec has in Wyatt, and the conversations they have while Alec is undercover.
Reece does not know how to get out of the hell she put herself. Having faced a huge tragedy still very young, she sought support in her best friend, entrusting him with the task of supporting her, helping her and taking care of her. After being in love with a boy for so long and he doesn’t reciprocate, Reece ends up being engaged to her friend, after all, with years of complicity he is the most likely choice. But the boy she grew up with is nothing like the man she’s been living with. Clay has turned into a problem, involved in illegal things, with abusive behavior and unlimited access to all of Reece’s estate. And Reece finds herself trapped in this false relationship, plagued by the monster Clay has become.
Alec is a cop who is part of an operation that is investigating suspects of involvement with narcotics. In forcing a situation to get close to Clay, he ends up hired as a bodyguard, a job that allows him to be able to investigate and gather evidence more easily. What he did not expect was for a feisty redhead to cross his path. And that gradually began to arouse his interest.
Alec and Reece were good characters. Reece was lost, afraid, trapped and not knowing what to do or who to ask for help. Alec, though he thought she was guilty at first, could not keep silent at all that he witnessed in that house, and the honor spoke louder than duty. For the first time Reece had someone caring for her. Falling in love with him was inevitable. Alec could be the tough cop outside, but inside he was completely loving, polite, and sweet. His whole interaction with Reece’s mother was funny, and cute.
Clay could have been more exploited, I found very fast the way he was eliminated. The pastor’s involvement was a surprise to me. Birdie and Cole appear in the story, as well as other characters from the upcoming books. Wyatt and his outbreak have made me curious, I look forward to reading his secrets.
A good novel, with a slight touch of drama, a little tension, with new chances and new beginnings. And a couple that is worth cheering.

This is the third book in this amazing series and is Reece and Alec’s turn. Alec is working undercover to infiltrate an organisation, and when he is hired as a bodyguard it is not for his target but his fiancé. It does not take Alec long to figure out that things are not as they seem and Reece and her mother are in danger and he will do whatever he has to in order to protect them both. This is a well written story which is heart-warming, heartbreaking, emotional, thrilling, and a fast paced suspenseful story. I was hooked and intrigued throughout, and cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
OMGOODNESS! This series just keeps getting better & better! Heard knows how to bring the story to life. You feel like you are part of each character & you feel all of their emotions.
Alec will pull you in & you will not be looking for any more book boyfriends! With this book, things are not as they seem. There’s twists & turns all the way. One thing for sure, no matter what, you will love Alec!
Alec is a police detective who is undercover to bust a drug trafficker. So when he finally gets close to the guy he is tasked with being the bodyguard of the target’s fiancé Reece. all information he has states that Reece is the one supplying the cash for Clay’s drug trafficking. But the more time he spends with Reece, the more it points to the fact that she is trying to get away from Clay and his business.
Reece has had bad luck with men. After her father died in a plane crash and her mother has been bed ridden. She spends all her time with her mother and their different fundraisers. So she is not happy with the fact that one of Clay’s goons will be her bodyguard, how will she get her escape plan to work then. But Alec is totally different to the other men working for Clay, and how is it that her heart and her body is betraying her whenever he is near. She can’t focus on Alec she needs to get away from Clay and get her mother away from him. Reece and Alec spends more time together but Alec knows that sooner or later she will find out who he really is and what will her reaction be?
I enjoyed this book, from the start to finish. It kept me hooked from the minute I started. Man I wished they had beat up Clay a bit more. Everything else was so engaging and you are anxious throughout the book wanting to see Reece’s reaction but also wanting to see how Clay will be brought to Justice! I can’t wait for Wyatt’s book!!!
Wow! Each book in this series gets better and better. This time the story is about Reece and Alec an undercover cop watching Clay. We meet Clay and Reece in the first two books. Clay and Reece are engaged but as you read, it’s not all as it seems. When Clay asks Alec to guard Reece, he had no idea what he was in for. Alec and Reece have major chemistry and I rooted for them thru this whole book. But can these two be together? Can Reece open her heart to Alec? Read this story to find out. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Emotional and beautiful story, this series is addicting
..this book pulls you in, and grabs you by heart and soul..
Swoony suspense romance that’s fairly predictable but the romance and the guys are everything! The story has hot detectives, a damsel in distress, drug dealers, an interesting twist that I didn’t see coming, some suspenseful intrigue and a few laughs. I loved the camaraderie between the hunky detectives and the interaction between Alec and Wyatt was a hoot. I zipped through this one because I couldn’t get enough of Alec and his boss attitude. The sexy detective goes undercover and wants under the covers with the beautiful damsel, Reece. He’s fierce and protective and when he goes all sexy alpha it’s panty melting! But can Reece trust him? She didn’t grown on me until later in the story when she finally found her lady balls with the help of Alec. Have I said he’s terrific? Yum! I sorta get Reece’s predicament but too much suffering for her and Mom plus the drug dealing. So wrong. Thank goodness for Alec. I loved Reece by the end of the story when she found her good place. Clay as the good friend gone bad evil dude is interesting, with a history that involves characters from previous stories. This is my favorite of the series so far. Not too many triggers. Back to Alec, (I do have a theme in case you missed it) he’s so sweet with Mom that it brought a tear to my eye. And when he was there for Wyatt I melted, again. I can’t wait for Wyatt’s story after what happened toward the end. Intense! I hate the “only a whole star” system because sometimes a girl just needs a half. I go for optimistic and round up so it’s a 4.5 for me because I didn’t get Reece’s opinion of Clay’s personality defect and her woo is me attitude at the beginning. But Alec is 5+++. As usual the writing is wonderful, the characters are intriguing, the romance sizzles, and the storyline has some heartbreaking and emotional moments. Great read. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC.
I didn’t think this series could get any better, BUT IT DID! Alec’s story had me hanging on the edge of my seat from start to finish…
Alec is hired to protect Reece. While working undercover. Which isn’t as easy as he thought it would be. Things just aren’t as they seem. Which will take further investigation.
Alec is badass, but also such a sweetheart. The perfect combo for a book boyfriend. Think this is my favourite story in the series so far. Can’t wait to read more
Another fabulous instalment to this series! Just when you think everything is as it’s meant to be…it’s not. Twists, turns, a lesson in trust and some emotionally beautiful moments. It’s amazing how reading other books in the series gives you a perception of characters that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Alec is an undercover cop, his mission to bring drug dealing Clay Roberts to his knees. Well laid plans never go as expected though. No one expected Alec to be offered a job working for Clay. The bigger shocker is that he is given the duty of watching his most valuable possession. Reece’s every move has to be taken back to Clay all under the guise of keeping her and her mother safe.
Reece is caught up in this game Clay is playing. With her mums bad health and being threatened she has little choice. However Clay goes too far getting her a bodyguard, she has to put a stop to this. If Reece’s going to put the wheels in motion she has to start taking matters into her own hands. She has been alone for so long that she doesn’t think she can trust Alec. But with threats for her and her mums life she needs to take a chance.
A friendship betrayed.
This is the third book in Michelle Heard’s Southern Heroes series. It is a stand-a-lone, but I can tell you now that not only will you benefit from reading and meeting the characters in books 1 and 2, but you will agree with me when I say that they are fantastic reads. Michelle was a new to me author when I came across The Girl In The Closet, and holy hell it was an amazing intensely hauntingly beautiful book that gripped me and never let me go. I had to get the first book in the series, The Ocean Between Us, and I couldn’t get in fast enough to read this book!
This is not as dark a read, nor as harrowing as Birdie’s story in The Girl, but it is beautifully written with it’s witty repartee between the characters, and the beautiful moments where respect and endearment is placed upon a woman who is recovering from head trauma and debilitating injuries suffered years ago. It’s raw and gritty, and reflects the lives of many around us. Look around you now, how many could be living Reece’s life with no way out, no Alec to sweep in for a rescue, and that in itself is what gives this book a wonderful heart-warming edge.
We met Reece in Book 2. She grew up as the best friend of Birdie and her foster brother Clay, where he really looked out for the two girls. As they got older, he had a more romantic interest in her, whereas Reece was in love with someone else. When her life fell apart at 19, it was Clay, her best friend she looked to for support, and too late, she found out that he had hidden a dark and dangerous side of himself from her and Birdie for all of those years.
I could wax lyrical about Alec forever. He is the complete package, and might just be who I could picture as perfect book boyfriend material. This man has some major MMA moves yet is tender and caring to Reece and her mother, and Mrs Nicholson had a hilarious way to wind him up!
While the suspense side of things had eased up a little in the book, the plot twist did surprise the hell out of me! Then all of a sudden it seemed to come to an abrupt though not unsatisfactory end. Not all is entirely resolved, and I’m wondering if this will get dealt with in Wyatt’s books when it is released. He has some stuff going on, and I can’t wait to be reading that! 4 Stars.
I loved this book!! Michelle Heard is amazing at pulling me in and not letting go til the end! Reece and Alec’s story is absolutely amazing and can’t wait to see what is next in this series!!
This book was outstanding. I absolutely lived Alec and Reece’s story. Alex is an undercover detective who comes into Reece’s life unexpectedly. Reece is in a difficult situation but is determined to keep her mother and her safe…no matter what. Alec wants nothing more than to help her, but will he be able to. I highly reccomend this book…there is love, laughter, tears, and quite a few surprises. I cannot wait for the next one!
4 1/2 amazing stars*** Alec & Reece’s story will draw you in from the very beginning. With Alec having a very caring heart for being a undercover cop. Reece had it difficult with not only her mom having to basically relearn how to speak, and communicate, to having a finance thats heartless and a drug smuggler. Michelle keeps your interest going all the way to the very last word of the book.
This is part of a series Southern Heroes, you do NOT have to read them in order. I can be read as a STANDALONE, but I would if I were you to read the 1st 2 books due to you will get a better under standing of the characters and the build up of the story in them.
