From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Horribly Sunny Mystery, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant.NOBODY MESSES WITH HIS LIBRARIAN. . .Who killed Michael Vanderhorst’s maker? It’s a darn good question. But when the trail brings Michael to hellishly sunny Phoenix, Arizona, his biggest problem soon becomes a cute little librarian he can’t seem to stay away from. He’s never met a … to stay away from. He’s never met a bigger danger magnet! Even her book cart has it out for her. And is that the drug cartel following her around, too? “Dear God, woman! What have you gotten yourself into?”
Things go from bad to worse when local vampires won’t play nice.
Can this four-hundred-year-old vampire keep his librarian safe and himself out of hot water? Can he bring his maker’s killer to justice? Yesterday, he would’ve said yes. But yesterday, he didn’t have a strange connection with a librarian. Yesterday, people weren’t trying to kill her.

Just when I think I’ve read all there is to read in the vampire romance genre, along comes Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. I saw an advert on Twitter and it instantly intrigued me. A vampire who’s in love with a librarian and also loves books? Sign me up before I swoon over here.
What I loved most about this book was Michael. He’s a very old vampire who not only has a witty persona but sexy as sin. Talk about a book boyfriend. He’s the ultimate book boyfriend!
There’s plenty of action and suspense for the non-romance lovers, too. The mystery of these rogue vampires kept me flipping the pages to see what would happen next.
The location, is hysterical. I mean, why any vampire choose to live in the hottest state in the country, Arizona, is mind-boggling.
Highly recommend!

Mimi Jean Pamfiloff deftly mixes humor, mystery and intrigue into a quirky romance. Michael Vanderhorst, an 800 year old self described loner comes to the aid of a disaster prone, seemingly innocent librarian, Miriam Murphy. Inextricably drawn to Miriam, he becomes involved involved in her life while trying to solve the mystery of his dearest friend and maker. In doing so he discovers a horribly nefarious ring of rogue vampires causing the murders of innocents. And somehow Miriam is mixed up in all this. He just has to figure out the how, who and why of it all.
The mystery now solved, Michael is elevated to an elite status in the Vampire community. As such he is given one year to complete the tasks set before by the ruling council and that includes proving that Miriam is extraordinary. Learning what will happen will have to wait until the next book.
Normally when Mimi has a release I’m all over it, because, well, it’s Mimi, nobody makes me laugh like she can. That said, ‘Vampire’ in the title of this book put me off a bit, I haaaaaaaaaate vampires!
But my fellow Mimi lovers are raving, and I’m feeling a bit jealous and left out, so I start asking, “how much icky vampireness can I expect??” And the answers are a resounding, “not much”. Soooo, I jump in feet first, and I can’t tell you how happy I am that I did!
These characters are quirky and funny and a great foundation for the multi-book series the author is planning. There’s still a good deal of mystery surrounding our librarian, even though the author didn’t leave us with a huge cliffhanger you can tell there’s so much more to come.
Interesting characters, laugh out loud moments and a vampire code of ethics..who knew! I’m in for the duration.
Enter Michael, a 4 millennia old nice, staid vampire, on a mission to retrieve his friend & makers ashes, solve the mystery of his demise; and return to his coven in Ohio. But here in AZ, someone apparently doesn’t want him accomplishing his agenda. And they’re trying to assassinate his ditzy, sweet, new boss who is a walking disaster. This book has it all-murder, mayhem, romance, humor, & even though it is a cliffhanger, it’s a great page turner that is riveting and a must read from me. I received an ARC to read and review voluntarily. Can’t wait for the next novel.
Michael Vanderhorst is a very old vampire who has traveled to the detestably hot and sunshine filled city of Phoenix, Arizona in search of answers. His maker was murdered under mysterious circumstances and the local vampire “society” is not being forthcoming with details on the investigation into his death and the punishment of the vampire or vampires responsible. During his wait to finally meet with the leader of the Phoenix vampire society (ridiculously named the Arizona Society of Sunshine Love according to Michael after all even though they CAN go into the sun, no vampire LOVES it) he fatefully passes his time waiting til his appointment by going to the local library. In the library he meets the very human and incredibly CLUMSY librarian Miriam Murphy who mistakenly interviewed him for an assistant position in the library. Michael is fascinated by her, finding himself coming to her aid when she is attacked in broad daylight and left struggling to survive. Michael must struggle to keep his strange new human friend safe from unknown assailants while investigating the death of his maker which he discovers are linked.
Prepare yourself for the new rollercoaster mystery series from the DEVIOUS Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. We can only hope when Mr. Nice catches up to her, he lets her tell the stories to the rest of us… not just to him!
What a great start to a new series for Mimi Jean Pamfiloff! Absolutely love her take on the vampire community and the mystery that surrounds the death of an ancient vampire. The characters were well written and the story draws you in from the beginning. The end leaves you wanting more and hoping it doesn’t take Mimi too long to write the next book in this exciting new series.
Wonderfully, mysteriously different. I have read nearly everything by Mimi Jean and I was not disappointed with this one! I absolutely love how Mimi Jean crafts her own worlds with her own set of rules and develops an amazing story.
From the very beginning, I was pulled in and captured by the story and the characters. The mystery was fun and different to attempt to figure out and I love how I was still wondering long after it was over.
I look forward to seeing more of this series, even if it isn’t romance. The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant is a wonderful break from the norm and takes you on an adventure you won’t soon forget.
I highly recommend this book!
It was a good read, I just wanted something more at the ending.
To be continued…
When I started this book, I didn’t know it was part of a series. After reading it, I feel as if I had just read the introduction to what is yet to come. To me it felt like we are getting the story of “how it all began”. I am intrigued enough that I look forward to seeing where the series goes from here.
Mysteries and vampires? Sign me up!!
Love Michael! Vampires, books, libraries, mystery, convoluted craziness, cliffhanger…..All things I love!! I am hoping for a love story too though. I’m to book 2!!

Oh Mimi does it again, a fabulous start to this new series.
Vampires have to be my favourite genre and mixed in true Mimi style what more could you want.
I love the geeky nerdy librarian ‘Miriam’ and how Michael is strangely drawn to her. Their attraction that unfolds is so addictive you wont be able to put this one down.
Mimi has given us another crazy, quirky, humourous and mysteriously amazing story. I can’t wait for more of Miriam and Michael (oh and not forgetting Lula and her shenanigans).
This started off with a slow burn but turned out to be enjoyable. I wasn’t expecting this but Michael Vanderhorst is intriguing and fun. Mimi you better get to writing Nice is coming. LOL
I always know what I’ll get with Mimi’s books! Great characters, an original story, plot twists I never saw coming! A great start to what I hope is a long running vampire mystery series!
I got The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant Book I by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff on a free day. It led me down a biting good path of laughs, love and vampires. I started with a smile and a chuckle. That’s a good sign and something Mimi Jean Pamfiloff does with ease. Michael Vanderhorst wasn’t looking for work, but he couldn’t resist her. Now, he’s a library assistant. Even though he saw Miriam coming, he never could have anticipated the affect she would have on his life. Hilarious, suspenseful, mouth wateringly, delightfully addictive.

I saw an ad for this book and admit, I thought it might be cheesy—but since the first book is free, I took a chance. I’m so glad I did! Michael is everything I love in a vampire character—handsome, strong, witty, loyal, resourceful. His sarcastic sidekick, Lula, keeps him on his toes in a most entertaining way. This story is focused on the mystery that surrounds the disappearance of Michael and Lula’s maker, Clive—and Michael’s puzzling attraction towards a human librarian, Miriam. It is a fun, dynamic page-turner that I devoured in a few hours—and I’ve already inhaled book two in the series. You won’t be disappointed!
Michael’s come to this miserably hot town for one reason only and that’s to pick up Clive’s ashes, find out how the hell it happened and avenge his death! He’s devastated and having a hard time wrapping his head around how this could even have happened to his maker! He notices Miriam at the coffee shop or rather witness the train wreck of her stumbling, bumping, falling and almost getting ran over crossing the street, all within just a few minutes! At first he’s drawn to her kindness and then their mutual love of books but later, the unexpected intense emotional unbalance he feels around her is intriguing to him and adds to the mystery. He’s not used to having any feelings at at all towards anyone for centuries so he doesn’t even seeing it coming until…Well I’m not going to spoil it by telling you to much. I do recommend this book and I think it’s fixing to get hot up in here! Hopefully in the next book! I loved Michael and Mariam’s connection and the strange pull between them. I also got a huge kick out of the secondary characters as well and I’m looking forward to seeing more of them! It’s a fascinating storyline with a lot of humor, mystery and mayhem that kept me flipping pages all afternoon and into the night just to find out how things would work out! It’s a very intriguing start to this vampire mystery romance even without the heat I crave in all my books, but I can feel it coming!
Loved this book. so funny and different. Strange and entertaining. Read it straight through. Hate cliff hangers thank goodness found this series late so I could the next one right away.
“I AM MR. TOASTY MOIST LIPS.”
I have to start this review on a slightly down note, I love Mimi and her works, but Michael, I guess more than anything, just wasn’t what I was expecting.
He’s so sweet and such a gentleman! I was probably looking for heartless and ruthless. I hope he grows on me, because I do like him.
Miriam, our librarian, is so sweet, honest, and completely unaware of what is going on right under her nose. I can see why Michael is attracted to her….. but wait! She has a boyfriend!! What?? NO!!!
Oh Michael, what have you gotten yourself into?
This was a great story, and my favorite character is NICE!!! “I loves Choo Nice!!
I hope there is a story brewing there too Mimi!?
I can not say enough about this series. I laughed so hard. It’s wonderful
