(Yep! It’s a STAND-ALONE. But why not read them all because…fun!)FALLING IN LOVE WITH … because…fun!)
FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOUR BOSS JUST CAN’T GET MORE AWKWARD…Michael Vanderhorst is not your usual vampire. For starters, he works in a library, is in love with Miriam, his hot nerdy human boss who has no clue what he is, and he looks like a college student.)
In reality, Michael is an ancient deadly vampire, an ex-assassin, and is currently the de facto king of his kind ever since their ruling party disappeared. To where? He doesn’t know, but if he wants his life back, he’ll have to find out. (Mystery!) Especially because a civil war is brewing, and being king makes his librarian a mark for his enemies. (She is, after all, his biggest weakness.)
With a global uprising about to explode, Michael must give her the protection of his army. Only one problem: She must become his queen first. But every attempt he makes to tell her the truth is met with extreme hostility. “Vampires aren’t real. That’s crazy talk, Michael!” Clearly, the topic frightens her.)
With time running out and her life on the line, Michael is left with one option: Marry her. Without her knowing. )
Can he pull it off? And what will happen when the fight comes to their door?

Book 3 kept me on my toes until the very end. I put on my detective hat ready to solve the mystery. But in true Mimi style, just when I thought I had it figured out, the switch lever is pulled and I’m on a whole new track. I seriously didn’t see that twist coming. Mimi you evil genius! Mr. Nice had me giggling as he continues to chase his Fanged Love addiction. No spoilers here. You must hop into the little blue car with Michael to find out what mystery he is trying to solve, all while trying to keep his precious librarian safe.
Long live the Caca Azul!!
OMG!! I am in heaven! Floved!! More twists and turns and Michael! His librarian, Miriam, love her!! The zaniness that is Mr Nice, adore! The whole cast of craziness I love!! I mentioned Elizabeth Peters in my last review? Seriously, if you loved Amelia Peabody, or Vicky Bliss or Jacqueline Kirby, you will love this book! All my favorite elements!! Strong sassy females, humor, some easter eggs, a good mystery, a sexy, four centuries old librarian’s assistant named Michael, and an author who excels at hooking us and keeping us on the line!! Oh, and all sorts of sexual tension!! I can’t even express all the internal squeeing I have done while reading this book and the others! Happy, happy, happy! I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
So many questions were answered in this story and even more were raised. This book gives enough information that it can be a stand-alone but it’s more enjoyable to read it all from the beginning. I’m excited to see what Michael and Miriam get into next.
Omg So Many Plot Twists!!
Another storm of giggles throughout this read! Did I spot some romance too or was it just Mr Nice trying to steal scenes & things? That dude is a wonderful lunatic
Some seriously messed up twists & turns that hurt my heart (even if I suspected as much) A huge reveal too I love this series!!

Firstly, my thanks to Mimi and her team for the ARC copy of this, the third book in this enthralling series. Secondly, how cool was it to see my name in print!! Thanks guys for that surprise!
No spoiler, ARC copy review….
Well. From originally not feeling a lot toward Michael, I have certainly changed my mind! I love who “Mike” is becoming. He is evolving more with every book, and is now able to be more himself.
I have to take back what I said in my review of book one about Miriam, being so sweet and honest! Oh how the tables turn! I knew there was more to her than meets the eye, and I think so did Michael, that’s why he was so drawn to her. So much mystery, and why is she so sick now? then we have the mystery ending of where has she gone, will she rescue herself, or will Michael be there to save the day?
And Nice!! What has happened to my Mr, Nice? Poor man having a Psychotic moment, and losing the plot like that! I still love him!
So much going on in this story, with Michael being made King of the vampires, and him questioning why him?
So many crazy quotes and awesome snort time times in this hilarious Mimi version of the eternal Vampire story. I started cackling on page one and didn’t look back!
Fantastic story that is only getting better as it progresses, well done!!
Some reason Michael is still in Arizona, wanting to help his human, but now so much more is at stake. He is the vampire king now, so Michael has to make some choices. And he has to figure out where the council all went. This book is well crafted and kept me wanting more.
I had trouble getting into this book. I couldn’t connect with the characters and did not feel they had any depth or reasons for me to like/dislike them.
The mystery part of the story did contain a twist that I did not see coming so that was fun to read. However, because I could not connect with the characters, I did not feel the emotions that the characters were feeling. I really wanted to like this and hope the rest of the series brings more depths to the characters to really get the reader invested in the story and their emotions.
I love these books! They make me laugh and leave me wanting more without a cliffhanger.
Love the whole series
This author always makes me laugh. I do wish it had some steam to it but I admire the author for going in a different direction with this. And the vampires thankfully don’t sparkle. In fact they’re downright curmudgeonly which is refreshing. 🙂
Humor, mystery, romance, sarcasm- such a great combination in the latest installment of Librarian’s Vampire Assistant. Bonus is this book reshapes in part the prior books so you don’t need to read the prior 2 in the series. I would recommend you still do though as these characters are thoroughly entertaining. Hurry, read it. Do it. DO IT, lol.
Love all of Mimi’s books!
If you haven’t read the first 2 books in the series you can start here but I would recommend reading the others first just because you’ll get the full effect. I absolutely love the snarky humor, dry sense of humor, underhanded lying that made me laugh, and the twists and turns that kept me guessing. It was incredible how this book continued to throw me off guard and had me second guessing everything I thought I knew. I’m not giving away any spoilers but I cannot wait for the next book!!!!
Our favorite Vampire is back with more mystery, more mayhem and more twists than a tornado.
Michael Vanderhorst just can’t catch a break. There are 500+ rogue vampires to hunt down and deal with, the entire Vampire Council has vanished without a trace leaving him as King. Whoever is behind this knows what he’s thinking, and out maneuvers him at every turn. His inconvenient feelings for Mariam are only getting stronger, and looking more like the impossible L word. The only way to protect his “beloved” is to marry her, but without her knowledge. Telling her the truth about who and what he is isn’t an option, he tried she wasn’t having any of it.
The latest installment of the Librarians Vampire assistant is true to form, with it’s unexpected twist, snarky character interactions, and just crazy shenanigans. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff has found a way to do the impossible, by making Mr Nice crazier than even his “normal”. She has layered even more depth into each of her characters causing them to question each other, and themselves as well as further endearing them to her readers.
The Librarians Vampire Assistant 3 is another wild romp in the life of over the top, delightful characters. I just want to move in with them all and watch the insanity unfold.
Though this is book 3 in the “series” each one can be read as a standalone.
Miriam and Michael’s story continues in the Librarian’s Vampire Assistant, Book 3. More mystery and excitement befalls Michael. And, dare I say, things heat up between Miriam and him? Could be.
You’re sure to find answers to your questions from the last book. And gain more questions for the next book! You’ll be just as voracious for more as I am! 5 stars!!!
What a crazy, emotional, witty, fun, thrilling, mind twisting adventure filled with danger, intrigue and some really unexpected turns…. was a highly entertaining could not put it down reading experience. If you have not started this journey, what are you waiting for? So need more of this sexy, sweet Vampire and his Librarian.
I think that I grin all the time while reading a Mimi Jean Pamfiloff book. Most of them are just so darn much fun. Even the darker books have their moments. The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant Book 3 has a lot going on. Michael’s inner dialogue is downright laugh out loud funny. With the mantle of King thrust upon him, he is juggling so many things that something is bound to fall. Miriam’s safety is his top priority even though the fate of the vampire world should be. Michaels nemesis, the blue car, is back, much to his consternation. The weird Mr. Nice is back too. Miriam has a few surprises for Michael and they may not all be good ones. Duplicity and deception seem to be the order of the day and now Michael, along with Miriam’s help, must work to solve the puzzle end stop an all out war.
I have to admit something. I almost didn’t finish this book. Oh, I got pissed off about more than halfway through it and had it put it down. That’s why the review is late. I’ve read this series from the beginning and fell in love with it. But Ms. Mimi did something that I felt didn’t need to be in the book and bam…pissed off a reader. Now, a couple of chapters later, all is forgiven and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Let’s talk about this series, shall we? There is a NEW mystery in every book. It is SOLVED by the end of the book. Is the romance the overall arc of the book? Absolutely. Ms. Mimi has written a paranormal, cozy mystery with romantic elements that is the best that I’ve ever read. Period. The book makes me laugh, swoon, tense up and keeps me flipping the pages to see what in the heck is going to happen next.
This book is truly the top of the arc for me. It wraps up some looser threads but opens up other possibilities with past characters that I can’t wait to see what happens with them and Michael. I have really warmed up to Miriam. I love her now. She is harboring a HUGE secret in this one and I was just floored. FLOORED!!!! I wish I could share but that’s a huge plot point in the book and you will just have to read it to find out. Ms. Mimi has pulled off a brilliant plot twist that had some great dialogue between her and Michael that is spot on. Oh and the romance FINALLY heats up in this installment. Again, ABOUT TIME!!! Listening to Michael moon over Miriam and never acting on it was frustrating. Not just for Michael for this reader as well.
This is one of the best books that I’ve read so far this year. Ms. Mimi just keeps getting better and better with this series. And Nice makes an appearance or two and he is hell-bent on the book series Fanged Love and it’s a hoot and a half. Please, please give this series a chance. It’s PG-13 at best but more PG. The characters are well rounded, the romance is plausible, if not frustrating and the mystery is fabulous.
Quirky characters, action and surprises. Some I saw coming; others I; others I did not. Mr.Nice was back with his craziness. I liked the banter between Miriam and Micheal.
This story has more twists than a pretzel….
… and boy is it amazing fun. Whilst technically part of an ongoing series this could be read as a stand alone, since the author fills in any backstory that is needed. However I do think reading all 3 books will result in the best reading experience. These books are a wonderfully, zany smoosh up of paranormal, adventure, romance, suspense, humour and general weirdness. It’s a cozy mystery taking one heck of an LSD trip.
“What the devil is a machoron?”
“You. A macho moron.”
Michael continues to bemuse with his strange mixed up personality. Sometimes geek, other times sexist caveman and always hopeless male.
The hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up, looking for a fight. Yes, even my hairs are fighters. I am quite manly like that.
His life continues to be ruled by his librarian (I had a feeling there was more to her than we knew) and his small blue electric car.
“Oh, you’re such a pussy.”
“Am not.” I am the Executioner. Or was. I fear nothing except tiny blue cars.”
I felt we got to know Marian a lot more in this book, and I definitely liked what I saw. So did Michael, resulting in some very tented pants! We also get to not only see more of Nice, Lula and Viviana but also learn some startling truths about them. Trying to solve the mysteries in this is like trying to solve one of those ball-in-the-hole dexterity puzzles. You can get a couple of the pieces in place but then some catastrophe occurs and you have to start again.
Talking of Nice, that man (sorry vampire) is just too funny for words. He is so well described, so perfectly crafted I can clearly picture, and hear, him. I sort of picture a camp young Iggy Pop! I loved the role he played in this book, including the spanner in the works at the end! (You’re not going to want to miss THAT twist!)
The crotch of his pants is so tight we can see everything. Two golf balls and a flashlight.
I was really pleased that the ongoing backstory was neatly tied up in this book, though how MJP kept all those various strands and loops in order left me in awe. The plot is breathtaking, intriguing, amusing, emotional and steamy (yay!), goodness knows how she managed to dream it all up! The story ends with a fairly mild cliff-hanger, I can’t wait to see what troubles befall Michael next. I will definitely be continuing with this series, the characters are just too good to give up!
“What were you saying about men being wrong all the time?”
She shrugs. “Even a broken clock is right twice in a day.”
