I love the dynamics of the characters in these books and how they navigate their teen years in a magical world that has thrust them into dangerous and very adult managed situations. I love seeing how they handle it calmly and get the guidance they need from adults when needed. This series as well as this book runs parallel to JK Rowling’s series and is perfect for those that are missing their Harry Potter reads. These books take you in a new direction and on wonderful adventures with well-rounded characters and fantastic journeys.
This is the third installment of the Kaira Renn fantasy series, The Legend of the Terrecet, by R. A. Lindo. If you are familiar with Harry Potter novels you will certainly appreciate the magic, spells and world crafting created by Mr. Lindo in this series. You can read a synopsis of the books on the covers, what I want to express is what a joy it is to read such detailed descriptions of characters and story woven expertly with fun, excitement and redemptive quality. Mr. Lindo deals with the discrimination of marginalized beings, emotional challenges for kid dealing with adults making wrong choices, and the transition from childhood into young teens and it’s all dealt with aplomb and no heavy handed teaching. My favorite part is when Conrad who felt he was not courageous enough to go with his friends and instead goes to Gilweean and find his courage there, and when Guppy and Jacob go to Sad Souls to visit and possibly confront their mother, my heart breaks for them. Lindo gives his characters depth, emotions and the ability to feel, experience failings and have compassion in their lessons. So for those who like a great fantasy world with magic and adventure you will not be disappointed. If you are looking for something a bit deeper you may find that too, a wonderful read for young adults and adults. I was given a copy for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The war begins in earnest!
Kaira, Guppy, Conrad, and Jacob have faced magical dangers in their fight to protect the magic-based universe of the SPMA. Now, they will fight beside Kaira’s father and aunt, along with an army as the battle for the Terrecet explodes. They must learn to overcome their fears and learn the fighting spells quickly if they are going to survive. It ends with a cliff-hanger that left me eager to read the next book. This is a perfect series for anyone who likes fantasy and magic.
Book three in the Kaira Renn Series brings Kaira and her friends traveling through portals and facing danger throughout the story. The author takes them on an adventure with magic and weaves an interesting story. The scenes are described in vivid detail and the story flows fluidly. I loved and would recommend reading.
