This book is a MUST-READ. I skipped work for it. I stayed up late for it. I couldn’t help myself! The Legend by Dylan Allen is pure mystery, intrigue, and drama all wrapped up in fiery emotional sex scenes that kept me awake at night.
Bottom Line: You can’t PRY me out of Rivers Wilde. I’ve moved in and I’m STAYING.
ALSO…I’m embarrassed to admit this is the first book by Dylan I’ve read. Well, now I’m hooked. I’m totally hooked. These people are SO REAL and I love them SO MUCH!!!
What a great read! This book successfully combines a terrific love story, told with depth, compassion and verve, with a mystery and which has haunted the lives of Remi and his siblings. This is a story contains completely lovable characters and some who are loathesome.
I adored both Remi and Kal. Their journey in search of their joy, is a tough and demanding one. They both have hearts as big as the planet, and are, at times, tested to the point of destruction. Dylan Allen brings all this to life wrapped in a story I could not put down! 5 beautiful, hot stars.
This was a beautiful story of a second chance romance between two people who lose each other multiple times but still found and fought their way to their own happy ending.
The whole story flowed fluidly. I loved the whole drama the author had set up. It was so heartbreaking and the pain and agony felt so real; and yet it was not done in over the top manner.
Both Remi and Kal were wonderful characters. One that will always be on top of my favorites. They both have risen from their failures and mistakes. And their love for each other? It was the kind of love you would wish for yourself to have. Their love has been tested by time and faith and yet they still made it through strong and proud and very much in love with each other. I want a love like that.
And don’t get me started with their chemistry. That and their banters were one of the highlights of this book.
I feel so amazed by this author that she managed to provide a story that’s so endearing and inspiring.
But wait there’s more. This author may right the kind of romance you want for yourself but she’s not all sugary sweet. She writes them hot scenes lava hot. As in dirty, delicious that it simmers and tingles something inside of you.
Also, I can’t wait for The Jezebel to come out. I do know that something big is about to be dropped with Regan’s story.
A beautifully written emotional second-chance romance that had my eyes glued to the page!
OMG! This was such a good book! I loved how sensitive Remi was even when he kept saying he wasn’t. This book kept me guessing, and dying wondering when they were not together! I loved their reunion and his family found that was truly heart breaking!
Second chances are up there on my favorite tropes list. Right next to rockstar romances.
I’ve raved about Dylan Allen and her amazing skill to bring a plot together. This book is no different. The Legend follows Remi (Remington) Wilde and Kal. They left a lasting impression on each other, but one thing leads to another and they are both going through hell and back. I can kinda relate. I feel like I’ve been through hell in the last couple of months. But let’s not get distracted.
I ADORE Dylan’s writing. I ADORE these characters. And oh my goodness, the twists. They were so unexpected and so well written. I couldn’t put it down.
Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book a while ago. So, yeah I’m a bit late in putting this review up. I sincerely apologize to the amazing Dylan Allen for my tardiness. I had a lot going on. But this is my honest and voluntary review. All opinions stated are my own and not influenced by the reception of the ARC.
More to come.. Remi and Kal gives you an beautiful emotional love story of what it is to fight for love.
“The Legend is a love story. But it’s also a cautionary tale. It tells you to love deeply, believe in happily ever after, but don’t try to live anyone’s life but your own. That will be your undoing. All legends are lies. Make your own truth”

Perfect family Dynasty / Love Story
Such a great read that has everything. I can’t say enough about how much I loved this book. Between the way it is broken up into parts along with how well it moves both in pace of story and time is impeccable. It is emotional and intimately hot in the best of ways. The family dynasty and all the drama that comes with it plays out perfectly. It is impossible to not root for Remi and Kal. I fell in love with them, had my heart broken with them, and had my millionth chance with them.
Remi and Kal- wow!! The Legend is quite the book by Dylan Allen. The more I read her books- the more I fall in love with her writing. There are so many amazing details throughout this book. It flows really well and you are keep wanting more to see where the story is going.
This book is complex but beautiful. It’s a journey of 2 people who have young love but young love always doesn’t work because life gets in the way… or maybe family does.
Rivers Wilde is a crazy intriguing place with families who think they know what’s best. I loved The Legacy and this book just grows from it. Remi is hard working, loyal and has always loved Kal. Kal has lived a crazy life and she grows so much throughout the book!! I love her personal journey and strength.
There so many great things I could say but I don’t want to give spoilers- so just go read this amazing book!!
Remington Wilde has been a favorite character of mine from when he was first introduced in The Legacy. He was such an enigmatic character and I couldn’t wait to dive into his story. The Legend was an angsty, emotional, steamy and riveting read that had me wanting to run away to Rivers Wilde for a while.
From their first meeting there was an undeniable connection between Remi and Kal and an unexpected friendship blossomed. These two gave me butterflies and all the feels as I found myself riveted to my Kindle. The slowburn, drama, secrets and all the angst woven throughout their story proved to be quite the spellbinding combination.
The Legend is not a sunshine and flowers type of story. It’s complicated, beautiful, heartbreaking and took me on a wild and addictive ride I wasn’t ready to see end. I can’t wait to see what’s to come next in Rivers Wilde!
“The Legend is a love story. But it’s also a cautionary tale. It tells you to love deeply, believe in happily ever after, but don’t try to live anyone’s life but your own. That will be your undoing. All legends are lies. Make your own truth.”
Wow. My heart is soaring. My heart is filled with warmth. My soul is leaping with joy. My heart has been captured. My soul has been held tight by a beautiful and soul reaching story. The Legend by Dylan Allen is a gorgeous symphony of a book with an emotionally powerful story that takes the reader like me on a soulful journey. This MAGICAL story. This RICH story. This ADDICTIVE story. The Legend is a SMASHING story. The Legend is a HEART TILTING story. The Legend is a HEART MELTING story. I felt my heart moving to the echoes of the story. I felt my soul follow the beat of this perfection of a story.
With a phenomenal and soul stirring writing, The Legend is the entrancing second book in the Rivers Wide series that explores a raw and gripping second chance romance that moved me. My heartstrings were pulled. My emotions were turned upside down. The Legend totally drew me in and set my world to its knees. The Legend is dazzling. The Legend is enchanting. The Legend is unique. The Legend is bewitching with an angsty romance, heartbreaking lies, juicy secrets, jaw dropping moments and a passionate romance. Dylan writes from the heart and you feel it in the pages. You feel it in every word, every sentence, every paragraph and every chapter. Her writing truly lives inside me. Her writing truly pulls me in. Just like The Legend always hold a special part of my heart.
The Legend you are introduced to Remi and Kal, both with chemistry and burning love for each other. You can’t help but be touched by their romance. It is so heartwarming and truly special. You feel their love over the years. When they are teenagers, you feel their young love. When they are 18, you feel their eagerness to be together. When they are in their 20s, you feel their desperation. When they are in their 30s, you feel their maturity. They go through pain, lies, secrets and betrayal, Remi is such a swoony alpha. I want my own Remi. He is tender, loyal, cocky and loves big. Kal is confident and strong. Together, Remi and Kal were spellbinding.
The Legend truly is one of my favourite book of the year. It totally cemented my love for Dylan Allen’s book. I highly recommend The Legend.
Dylan has quickly become one of my favorite writers. This newest book is fantastic. It follows Remi and Kal for the length of their relationship, it wasn’t always pretty. There was lots of love, loss, a twist, lots of hotness ( oh my) and finally a HEA. Loved it from page 1 ! Can’t wait to read what she writes next.
Remi and Kal’s story is definitely one of Legends! Together they were perfect. Apart they were destroyed. All the odds were against them. Having a family built from lies , that couldn’t be bothered by “lesser people” . Their relationship was fought every step of the way. But fate has a way to make your own ending. The Legend was a beautiful story that takes you on an adventure of love but so much heartbreak. Loved this story so much! And I can’t wait for The Jezebel!
The Legend is a love story for the ages. It is the perfect blend of emergent love, heartbreak, heartache, and redemption. Reading The Legend is a completely interactive experience that engages the reader’s emotions in the beat of all possible ways.
I have come to expect certain things from Dylan Allen’s books. I know I can count on her to bring completely unique characters whose personalities are strong but completley recognizable. I can count on her to bring a multicultural, multifaceted community where I find new and fascinating tidbits to enlighten my knowledge of the world. Most of all, I know I can count on Dylan to provide and angst-filled, enthralling plot, that is filled with twists that can only come from the most creative of minds. The Legend did not disappoint on any of these levels.
What I also found in this beautifully crafted book was a perfect example of unconditional love that refuses to die despite separation, distance, and deception. Remind and Kal are the quintessential example of True Love’s determination to exist and survive when conditions are extremely trecherous, then blossom and thrive when people make the time to nurture it.
In Dylan Allen’s exquisitely manufactured community of Rivers Wilde, I found all the very real-world issues that humans deal with on a daily basis. I also found a tenacious spirit of hope that transcends the hazards we encounter during our life journey.
The Legend is definitely not a lie. It is a gift and a lesson which reminds us we must find what is most precious and never lose sight of how invaluable love is. It shows us exactly how integral to humanity love truly is.
Omfg this book was absolutely amazing I loved it so much. Dylan idid such a great job and filling this book with so much emotion constantly pulling your heart strings. I could not put it down. She made you feel all of what the characters were feeling and hate some of them too. She did a superb job
The Legend by Dylan Allen
5++++ Stars
WOWZA!! What a marvelous masterpiece!! I floved floved this so bad!! So full of emotions and twists. I was completely engrossed.
“All legends are lies. Make your own truth.”
“Those legends about happy endings are full of lies. It’s not a destination, it’s our f**** every day.”
Hugely recommend!
5.5 Stars
There are stories that linger long after you’ve finished the last lines of a book, ones that are so emotional and masterfully well written they become indelibly etched in your mind. The Legend is one of those stories and it’s going on my #TopRead list of 2019. Just a warning: It is NOT a Standalone. It’s the second book in the Rivers Wilde series and follows one of my #TopReads of last year, The Legacy; do yourselves a favor and please read it beforehand.
I can’t stress how much I loved this Second Chance love story. It was filled with some very flawed characters, which given a chance to redeem themselves were able to do so spectacularly and made me love them so much more! Beware, there were also some secondary characters with some very unredeemable qualities, truly vile and necessary to the plot line, and caused so much gut wrenching pain I took great pleasure hating them. Lies and unbelievable betrayals are revealed in this story; ones that fracture so many lives and cause so much destruction and irreparable damage.
This is the reason Ms. Allen has become one of my favorite authors; she’s so incredibly talented and despite the jaw dropping storyline, her stories never become melodramatic. Find some time to enjoy this romance, hopefully with unnecessary interruptions or distractions, so you can savor it all the way to the shocking end! Just a hint…there’s more to come, yaaaaaay!
“I know the magic of happy endings only exist in books and sometimes in my mind. So, when it’s over, I’ll remember this summer as the one that brought me close enough to touch mine.”
Kal Greer was twelve when she met Remi the first time, on one of the most humiliating days of her short life, so far. Unfortunately due to her single mother’s poor choices and bad reputation, it won’t be an isolated incident. When she’s forced to leave unexpectedly, she accidentally leaves her beloved writing notebook behind. Remi finds and reads it, convinced they’ll meet again and he can safely return it to Kal. It’ll be six years before he can return it to her.
“I’ve learned that people like Kal, interesting and introspective, brave while also being kind and generous, funny and smart, are like needles in a haystack.”
Remington Wilde had grown up living in the shadow of his legendary father, who died when Remi was a young child. Raised by his strong willed and controlling mother, Tina, and grandfather, Remi and his siblings know they’re destiny is to go into the family business. One that’s afforded them a life of luxury and wealth, in the exclusive community known as Rivers Wilde, located in Houston. But privilege comes with a price; Remi and his siblings lives will be irrevocably altered, many years later, when they find out Tina has lied to them their entire lives.
“I have managed to convince myself that everything is as it should be. We’re both where life intended us to be.”
Remi and Kal unexpectedly meet again six years later, the summer before he’s going away to college, and take up where they left off. But it’s not meant to be, if his mother has anything to do with it. And Tina always gets what she wants, one way or another.
“I spent a summer convincing her that she could trust me, convincing her that I trusted her. And then, in one night, I ruined it, and hurt her profoundly. All because I thought…well, I thought like an eighteen-year-old with poor judgment and not quite enough courage.”
Torn apart by deceit and a lie, it’ll be another eight years before they see each other again. But this time, their encounter will be bittersweet, filled with animosity and painful revelations. Four more year go by, before they meet again, and this time they speak of every painful thing that’s happened since that summer, so many years ago.
What a very convoluted story about lovers who don’t seem to catch a break! This lost story has a time span of eighteen complicated and intense years. Remi and Kal met when they were fourteen. Even at such a young age, they shared a connection, a deep understanding of each other. Kal was instrumental in helping instill a sense of discipline in Remi that earned him the nickname of Legend, even from that moment. However, Remi belongs to the Wilde family, a prominent family in Houston, while Kal comes from the poor section. What they have in common: crappy mothers who think nothing of interfering in the lives of their children and screwing up their life.
They meet several other times as they grow up, but each time something breaks them apart, usually their mothers. Still, they remain in each other’s memory and heart; they are soulmates. Each time they meet, Kal helps Remi find his direction, his purpose in life. Remi gives Kal the attention and adoration that feeds her soul and makes her feel important and beautiful.
Kal has secrets and Remi has a mystery related to his family’s past. There’s a lot of back family history that makes the story uber interesting, adding complications to an already star crossed plot. The twists keep coming and I was despairing of them getting their chance to be together. The book kept me glued and feverishly reading to find out the conclusion and no one will be disappointed in how it ends. Lots of yummy smexy scenes, tender moments, funny banter, and moments of quiet adoration. Their loving moments were a romantic delight to read.
The Wilde’s are an intense family and protecting their reputation and appearance is something that do at any cost. Remi leaves the weight of his father’s legacy on his shoulders. Living up to a man that died so many years ago is an incredible burden, but it strives to do what is right. When he is 14, he encounters Kal, a girl with incredible hope and a zest for unsolved disappearances. An amazing friendship is formed but Kal isn’t from the “in” club. Kal loves how easy it is to be with Remi. Sharing her theories and hopes with him is comfortable but her past is full of thorns with how her mother has lived. There are so many forces working against Remi and Kal that their romance journey takes many years. I love how Remi found new passions in his life just by being around Kal which gave him new purpose. After all the hardships brought upon them, will they be able to embrace a happily ever after? This is a crazy ride and I wanted to throttle a few characters a long the way. I needed these two to hand on to their amazing love. I read this book using Kindle Unlimited.
Read at professorromance.blog:
So what is a legend? In one instance, a legend is a mythological story caught in the annals of time, morphing and revising over time. In other ways, a legend is a person, built so high above a pedestal of other’s expectations. And in other instances, a legend is a fairy tale people construct to deepen the meaning of a simple story, replete with villains and saviors. Dylan Allen’s The Legend holds all of these legends as it tells the twenty year second-chance love story of Kal and Remi.
It is a story of a Houston enclave built on the mythology of the intersection of two families, the Rivers and the Wildes.
It is a story of Remi and Kal, one known as The Legend and other known as the muse to The Legend.
Most importantly, it is a fairy tale of a soul-deep love between two people whose love morphs and grows and fills each other’s lives.
Above all else, this is the story of learning to love yourself deeply and accepting truth over the legend you’ve been told.
This story is angsty. There were many times when I had to push through the story because I knew the reward would be greater than the heart-pounding, gut-wrenching story. There were many, many moments like this in The Legend. If you love that soul-churning type of story, this is your book. The story twists through the legend of the Rivers and Wilde families. When you think you have everything figured out, you come to the end of a chapter, recognizing there is much more to know. The Legend offers some resolution to the story started in the first book in the Rivers Wilde series, The Legacy, so it feels complete…until the end when Dylan Allen hits you with the premise for the next book, The Jezebel (yes, it is already on my TBR on GoodReads).
Kal and Remi are a special couple. Yes, I fell in love with Hayes and Confidence in the first book, but my heart connected more with Kal and Remi, especially Remi. I think I see myself in his character a bit. Like Remi, my biological father left my life when I was young, never to return. This laid a heavy burden on me, unknown in my childhood. I didn’t feel it until adulthood. Missing out on understanding how a parent turns away from their child changes your heart, adding a scar where it was broken. When certain realizations come to Remi, and he finds truth outside of the legend of his father, he is more whole than ever before. And in that moment, I empathized with him. I felt his truth and wished it was my own.
There is something incredibly special about Dylan Allen’s stories. She has this way about crafting story and characters that grab your heart. She makes me want to know them in real life.
When we leave this book, the legends of this book have been re-written, overlaid with the truth. That truth is no legend can live up to the truth of a soul-deep love.
Overall:
