A great Medieval epic and a love story for the ages.1270 A.D. – An epic story of loss, love and redemption. On the Seventh Crusade, Sir Alec Summerlin makes a horrible mistake that costs him everything. Once the greatest swordsman in the realm, he lays his weapon down and refuses to ever wield a broadsword again. Surrendering his spurs, he retires to his father’s castle in self-imposed exile. His … self-imposed exile. His father, however, has other ideas for his greatest son and betroths him to a local ale heiress.
The Lady Peyton de Fluornoy is as resistant to marriage as Alec is, but she gradually begins to warm to the man who has given up on life. Alec comes to know a lady of spirit, beauty and intelligence. Before their marriage can happen, however, Alec’s father is blackmailed by a neighbor who wants Peyton for his own son. Now deeply in love, Alec elopes with Peyton and an entirely new world of danger and passion opens up for them both.
As the conflict with the neighbor heats up, deep and horrific secrets are revealed, and Peyton ends up in grave danger. Alec must recant his vow and draw his sword again to save the woman that he loves as The Legend is once again reborn.

a very good book
Loved it!!!
Kathryn LeVeque is a favorite of mine. Her books never disappoint and sometimes you get to meet her characters in other works. Keep them coming.
Totally enjoyed this book.
Great book. Interesting characters and an unexpected twist.
Anything I have read by Kathryn LaVeque is great. Her attention to detail and story lines keep me glued till the end.
Life was really so hard back in Medieval times. Those “in charge” were brutal beyond belief even when it wasn’t……helpful?? Hard to figure that sentence, but I think you know what I mean. The Scots had been battered for years by Edward I of England, who in my estimation, was truly an evil king. They were getting so tired off always being at war, not enough food, not enough clothing to keep warm that they were seriously thinking of just giving up. If it weren’t for William Wallace, Scottish history would be amazingly different today. Plus, it allows Sir William a chance at love in between all his battles. A truly great story.
This book held me captive. I couldnt put it down till the end. Wonderful love story.
It really held my interest!
Very good. Recommended reading to romancers!!!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book.
It was a fun read although a little unrealistic. Fun plot.
Wonderful book! Gripping creativenarrative and lots of romance!
Has more plot than most of these.
excellent
It was very long. In fact it was almost like two books, but you got caught up in the characters and all of their drama and kept turning the pages to see what would happen next. My main complaint was her various and constant descriptions of how “massive” Alec was. He was starting to sound like the incredible hulk. I did, however, enjoy the descriptions of life in the middle ages vs so many regency era books these days. All in all, I would buy more of her books.
