A LONE STAR LOVER They live to protect. They live to fight for honor and justice. They live to love the women who have captured their souls. These are the Sons of Texas, from New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant. In The Legend, Callie Reed doesn’t need a man to protect her. An expert sharpshooter and renegade hacker, this Texas-born spitfire’s got the skills and the courage to stand up … got the skills and the courage to stand up to any danger–no matter how deadly. But when she becomes the target of a shadowy organization known as the Saints, Callie is forced to team up with the one man she can’t outshoot: the gorgeous, and infuriating, Lone Star legend named Wyatt Loughman…
A Delta Force Colonel with a rock-hard body and stone-cold heart, Wyatt has been teasing and tormenting Callie since they were playmates on his family’s ranch. Of course, he’s wildly attracted to the fiery, strong-willed Callie. But he’s always hidden his feelings behind a wall of Texas tough and military cool, even as he’s burning up with desire. Can Wyatt save Callie’s life–without putting her love in the line of fire?

Callie Reed is as tough as they come, she is an expert sharpshooter who is capable of standing toe-to-toe with any man. But when she catches the attention of some very dangerous men she finds herself a little out of her element, and in need of some serious help, so she turns to Wyatt Loughman… a man that comes with many accolades. And the minute he wanders into her world she knows she’s met her match! From that point on the chemistry starts swirling, danger escalates, and these two have to find common ground in order to survive.
This was my first visit to the Sons of Texas series, and I have to say it left a good first impression. At times though I felt like I was missing something, and I think if I had I read the first two installments previous I may have had a easier time understanding certain things in the story. But with that being said I did enjoy the story, the characters were well crafted, equipped with domineering personalities, emitted serious sparks, and were loaded with southern charm and lots of tude! Overall I would say it was a good read, with a thrilling story line kept me captivated from start to finish!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.
This is the third book in the exciting Sons of Texas series by Donna Grant. This is oldest brother, Wyatt’s story. Wyatt was the one who found their mother murdered, when their father, Orrin, was on assignment. He blamed his father for her death, but being a young boy did not realize how devastated his father was. With his aunt and uncle, he helped with his brothers, but they found him cold and bossy, so they weren’t close. For a short while he did develop a closeness with little Callie Reed, who came to work on the ranch to escape her criminal family, but as soon as he could he left to join the military, and he cruelly pushed her away to keep her safe. His two brothers followed in the family tradition, but all in different branches. They were brought back in book one, to help find their estranged father, not realizing that he had formed his own Black Ops group- Whitehorse- his goal to find the truth of his wife’s death, and then the murder of his brother and sister-in-law.
A sinister organization, known as The Saint, are taking over governments world wide from within. In book one, the brothers decide the best way to find their father, stay alive and who is behind The Saints, is to split up. Unbeknownst to Callie, Wyatt has been keeping an eye on her, since he left, but he won’t allow her to know how he feels. Meanwhile, Orrin had been teaching her self defense, along with sharpshooting and she became an expert hacker. She is badass. While they are on the run, will they reveal their true feelings for each other? Who can they trust? Will the family ever get a happy reunion?
The characters are strong, plot thick and intriguing. My only criticism is that there are parts of the narrative that are repetitive. I would advise reading the books in order.
**I received a copy of the book from St. Martin’s Press and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**
The Legend is the third book in the Sons of Texas series however I agree with a previous reviewer you really need to have read the previous two so that you can understand the POV of this book. It does leave the ending open for not only the final battle but conclusion as well.
Wyatt Loughman has returned home to find his father Orrin but also to see if what he and Callie previously had is the forever love that his brothers have recently found. Callie Read was rescued by Orrin and Wyatt after being severely beaten when she refused to join her family of grifters. But when he arrives he realizes that he may need to convince her as well as he feels the same way and now he must prepare her for the battle yet to come. They’ll need all hands on deck to fight not only The Saints but friends who now are against them and Callie’s own crooked family members. It will take everything they all have when both of them are severely injured.
Callie Reed will do anything to find Orrin and she owes him and Wyatt her life as they saved her from her family after a severe beating. She has become a world famous hacker. They will need her skills when encrypted messages start to arrive from Orrin. But it’s time to tell Wyatt how she really feels but they will have to go on the run from the Saints not knowing who to trust. Can they reach safety in time? There is a boatload of suspense and adventure with both Callie and Wyatt will be injured along the way. The ending will hint of who and what is to come for the next book, I’d give the book a solid four stars.
I’d give this addition a solid four stars for its action packed and suspense filled story.

loved reading Callie & Wyatt’s story. Third in the Sons of Texas series. I would read them in order as the storyline progresses with each book. I hope to see a spin off to complete the story of how this family defeats the Saints.
good book
