From nerdy bookworm to Fae Slayer in training. My life is carefully planned, and blissfully free of surprises. I hate surprises.Discovering I come from a long line of Fae Slayers and must give up my position at a prestigious college to attend a Slayer Academy?Worst. Surprise. Ever.I’m a nerd. A bookworm. I slay with words, not swords.Fighting to stay at the top of the class is nothing compared to … top of the class is nothing compared to fighting to survive.
If the deadly weapons and mysteriously hot, but possibly evil guys don’t kill me, then six months without cell reception might.
Megara’s battle to survive Slayer Academy has just begun. Weapons classes, unexpected passion, and forbidden love await in The Legacy…
***The legacy is the first book in a College-age, Reverse Harem, Paranormal Academy series.

An interesting take on a slayer academy style book. I’ve only come across one other fae slaying book before and this is leagues better. There is the typical hot popular bully-style guy, mean girl, and the besties/roomies in this academy but it lacks a well-rounded academy feel as not many other characters are shown or have any interaction with Meg (the main character). There are parts of her attending classes, mostly physical training, and studying in the library though not very immersive. The book takes place over an entire semester, though most is breezed over in time jumps. The fae prince was the most interesting part aside from learning about the new world Meg has become immersed into.
Well whoa … you quickly learn this is a “fish out of water” tale. Meg has no knowledge of the Slayer Academy or why anyone would need a Slayer Academy. She gets shipped out to the Slayer Academy within hours of finding out that she is the 5th Generation of Slayers in her family. She learns she must fight and kill the Fae because they are evil.
The makes some friends, takes some classes, has a tryst and decides her path. Will it lead her to the “Legacy” status she seems to have?
I received this as an Advance reader copy with the hope I would enjoy it an want to review it.
Reading the back cover, I got the impression of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I liked that show, so I flipped the kindle open and dived in….. Megara (or Meg to her friends) is not a kick ass warrior woman, Meg is a book worm, she’s not use to fighting and certainly not monsters. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Let’s go back ….. Meg is off to do a gap year before deciding what’s next in her life she very excited. But her whole world is about to change, and in her opinion, not for the better. She’s unaware that both her parents are Fae slayers (and are pretty good at their job) and it’s time for their daughter to leave this life and enrol in Slayer Academy, to say that Megara is shocked and displeased is an understatement…… she’s thinking it’s a big joke, but as it sinks in, she realises her family are serious, they are going to shop her off to some school…. Arriving at the front of the academy Megara is in awe of the building, but she’s also a little apprehensive, it doesn’t look too friendly, and the nerves Meg had been suppressing, come back big a bang (this is all some terrible dream). We meet other class mates (and that wasn’t a great first meeting) they aren’t impressed, the Callum’s are great warriors and hunters of the Fae, and Meg, well she’s a big disappointment!!! We then read all the fun times (not) with weaponry (she’s no good with swords) and her hand to hand skills are a joke!!! But the other lessons, Meg is a keen student and makes the grades. And it’s not teenage angst unless there is a love story…. and this one will be a forbidden one, why? Is Fiore Fae ? And if so, that’s a big NO NO in the slayer world, they can’t and shouldn’t be together, but you try telling a teenager NOand Fiore (that’s the hunks name) is definitely worth disobeying everyone for. There is just something about him (besides being hot) there is a connection Megara has never felt with anyone before. But there is also that element of danger that keeps Meg from falling too deep. We also have Brutus (a student at the school) there is definitely a spark between them, so we could have a love triangle Oh and did I mention a Legacy? (Well the title does give it away) it’s her legacy, five generations of her family have attended and have slain the evil Fae. Is there more to her legacy (I have a feeling there is) So if you like heroines that’s aren’t warriors, that are nerds first and foremost, then you definitely need to pick this book up. And book two….. if it’s half as good as this one, then I’m in.
Slayers and Fae equals trouble!
This is the first book in the Slayer Academy series by Amelia Shaw. This story is a great set up for the next book. You will read about Magera who is thrown in the Academy with no knowledge of what is going on. Growing up she knew she knew she was different but do not think it wasn’t normal. So basically Magera has to deal with some bullying because she is a legacy who knows nothing. this bulky is pretty hot though, so what will happen there? She has to learn a lot to catch up to everyone but in the meantime she is having dreams of a gorgeous man. However, as she is learning the history of slayers, she has more questions and it all comes down at the end. I need to know what is going to happening.
This is an awesome start to this academy series I mean who wouldn’t want to go to slayer academy?? Well written this features not a kick ass heroine but a bookworm / nerd heroine who I absolutely loved, weapons classes and a slow burn forbidden love! Loved the twists and turns, love the adventure and can’t wait to read what happens next!

The Legacy: Semester 1 by Amelia Shaw is the first book in the Slayer Academy series. In this book, a girl Megara is trying to choose what she wants to do next after her high school graduation. However, she has her whole life uprooted when her parents wake her up at noon and tell her she needs to pack her bags to go to the Slayer Academy. This book is interesting, intriguing, and full of mystery. Megara is a unique character who finds herself having to educate herself from scratch with no knowledge of the new world she finds herself in. This book is a first book of several so it does end in a cliffhanger to lead into the next book. I really liked this coming of age story due to its edgy plot with its twists and turns. This is a fun and entertaining read full of adventure, danger, and a surprise romance. The Legacy: Semester 1 is full of adventure, danger, and romance.
I don’t know. I think that Megara is not suited for being a slayer. She is to soft hearten for it. She also sees both sides. Maybe if she talked to her Mom or Grandma she might feel differently. We will have to see how things go. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Megara is a bookworm who has trouble fitting in. Overnight she finds out that she a fae slayer and it’s her legacy! This is the first book in what will be an amazing series! The characters and plot are well developed. I am excited for the next book! A must read!

Megara attends a party for her friend’s birthday but she really wasn’t interested in being there. She finds a quite place and is approached by the handsomest man she had ever seen. She was attracted to Fiore but also felt danger. He tries to lure her away but instead she dances with him and then he’s gone. The next day she is told by her parents that she is going to the Slayer Academy as did the four generations before her. She’s stunned. When she is dropped off her mother does not even get out of the car. As she enters the yard she is attracted by four people, she runs but is quickly overtaken. So much for the Legacy one of them says, and so begins her adventure.
This is a well written paranormal academy adventure. The characters are very well developed and are compelling. The narrative sets the stage and future defines the characters inner feelings. The struggles she endures help her grow and develop independent thinking in a very rigid environment. There is an attraction between her and Fiore that was revealed through her dreams. It is a creative paranormal adventure using slayers and the Fae. The book is easy to read and extremely interesting. As the first book in a series, the story is not yet completed but it the characters are so dynamic you will want to read the next book.

This is the start to the Paranormal Academy Series.
I found it was a little slow but it definitely picks up
as the plot unfolds.
Magara finds out that she belongs to a long time fae
killers. But she doesn’t think all of them are evil.
I found the plot is well developed and interesting
Characters seem to be alive on the pages.
Definitely looking forward to the next chapter in this
series to see how things developed.

I really love Megara, Fiore and Brutus along with Meg’s friends. After being thrown to the dogs so to speak with her parents and grandmother telling her she is a fae slayer Megara isn’t so happy with them. She doesn’t want to fight or kill because she doesn’t believe that all far are bad. I cant wait to see how everything ends up and if she gets in over her head.
Great start to this new paranormal academy series. Megara is still trying to find her place in life and struggling to fit in, when her parents drop a bombshell on her – She is being sent to Slayer Academy just like her parents and grandparents before her to learn how to kill the Fae. While her family history makes her a Legacy, she knows next to nothing about this new world she finds herself in. Top that off with a mysterious encounter with a guy at a bar the night before she leaves and a not so welcoming introduction to the Academy, and she doesn’t know what to believe. As she seeks the knowledge she needs to survive this adventure, she begins to question the past, her feelings, and what the truth really is. Things get even more complicated as she learns more and unwittingly finds herself in a bit of a love triangle between Fiore, the Fae she met at the bar, and Brutus, the bully she met upon her arrival at the school. With all these expectations placed on her because she’s a Legacy, just what will she do and what will her ultimate legacy be? I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series holds for this characters!
This is the first Amelia Shaw book that I have read. The book is well written but a Little to slow for my liking. Megara is the main charecters name and she suddenly finds out that that her family has been hunting fae for generations and that this has been hidden from her. Now out of the blue she is told that she has to attend the slayer academy herself where she will learn how to become a fae hunter. But she hasn’t grown up hating Fae and soon realises that not everything is black and white, not all Fae are evil and soon she starts to doubt everything her family have led her to believe.
As the storey is good I may give book 2 a try and just hope that it is a lot faster paced.
