If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know it’s coming, and it will hurt. But you’ll be able to prepare.
Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news — the little baby left in … baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like he’d been broken at birth. I knew that wasn’t what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start.
It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.
And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn’t stay away.
And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all… a love story.

This is not your typical romance, it’s better. Unpredictable, not flowers and candy but grit and difference. Full story, not a teaser. A touch of paranormal adds interest and unpredictability.
This is probably one of the best books I have read in a long time. Easy to read, interesting characters, great plot. Highly recommend this read.
This book definitely was not what I was expecting! Good read from beginning to the end
The characters and story line in this were remarkable. What starts as a somewhat tragic beginning turns into something totally unexpected. LOVED IT
This book was captivating and insightful. It is very well written and I’m not disappointed. I couldn’t wait to read the 2nd book, “The Law of David”.
This book had good descriptive words that you don’t see on other books but the content didn’t really match it seemed kind of adolescent, at least in the first part of the book.
Great book, sad, happy and everything in between. I couldn’t put it down. The character development was incredible and I felt a connection to them that has remained even after finishing the book.
EXCELLENT BOOK! READ IT! 😀
It was a fantastic read.
This book touched me deeply. Recommend to everyone.
Liked the pace of this book. Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, guess again.
Beautiful characters. Tragically beautiful story. Loved it could not put it down.
If your looking for easy breezy, this is not your choice. However, if your looking for original, interesting, and mysterious, this is a great choice! It can be a bit dark, but the contrast in characters helps to you to ease out of the dark. Definitely worth reading.
This is my favourite book this year. The characters, Moses and Frankie (a girl) are so likable and their story is a sweet and tragic one, but a happy one. Moses is a young man who was abandoned at birth by his adrug addicted mother. He is a very talented artist and paints what he feels. You will love this storyline and it’s a real mystery and …
I loved this book. I believe there are circumstances we can’t explain but I never doubt what other people experience.
Keep writing great books.

Wow! I loved this book. Amazingly different with a paranormal aspect to it. But truly beautiful too…even through the sadness. Moses was amazing and of course I loved Eli.
Beautifully hauting. One of the best books I have read in a very long time. A read I will not forget. There is so much we do not know about mental illness. This read introduced possibilities. Acceptance and love can move mountains.
I loved this book
Another favorite of mine from Amy Harmon!
