The Last Unforgiven,Freed is the final book and the conclusion of Marina Simcoe’s Demons series. A well written story that held my interest until the end. I want to read this series again. This is Human Delilah and incubus demon Raim’s story, there is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, evil, a villain, forgiveness, and love. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I truly hate seeing this series come to an end, but am glad that it ended the way it did. Raim has been an amazing character throughout the series and he is a character that you sometimes loved to hate. That being said, with this final book, the second part to Raim’s story, you finally understand why he is the Demon he is. Raim is broken and truly believes he doesn’t deserve to be redeemed.
But even Raim deserves a second chance, and his second chance comes in the form of Delilah Neri. Dee reminds Raim of someone he knew long ago and he wants to figure out how it is that Dee is wearing his stone around her neck. When he realizes that Dee is a descendant of the woman who helped him all those years ago and his once friend, his goal is to see her safe. He didn’t count on falling in love with her.

A thrilling finale for the Last Unforgiven!
The power of love is amazing! I loved watching this tale unfold. I already knew how much rage Raim felt over his past. Many things are clarified here. Delilah Neri is something else! A very unusual woman who is currently experiencing loss. Meeting Raim is a turning point for her. Raim and Delilah clearly affect each other as they interact. His focus becomes her protection. It’s only a few weeks, but the changes in their feelings are intense! Watch what happens now that the fires are lit.
I was delighted to see a surprising number of familiar faces from the author’s other books, deftly interwoven for a very exciting story.
I’m taking a break from reading now, so I can savor thoughts about this book. Definitely a ‘must-read!’
“My sins are too grave and too many to ever hope for redemption.” -Raim
Raim is the last, the final Unforgiven. All other incubi had found their One, and had been forgiven… They had found happiness and peace in the arms of their beloveds. Raim was resigned to be alone for his remaining millennia… Then the Priory Elder came…
Still reeling from the pain of devastating betrayal by her barely ex-husband, Delilah Neri attempts to drown her sorrows. When that doesn’t numb the pain, Delilah decided to seek out male companionship for just one night. Meeting Raim was a mistake…. Delilah knew what he was, she but was desperate to feel… something… Other than the envendless abyss of lost love’s betrayal….
“In his arms I could truly be myself, whatever that happened to be—strong and independent , small and vulnerable, mad and raging. I didn’t need to pretend. Raim saw me for what I was, and he accepted all of me.” – Delilah
But becoming entangled with Raim was a mistake, on so many levels. His eyes, his emotions, his presence… All pull Delilah towards him, no matter how hard she fights the desire to be closer… But malevolence lurks in the deeper shadows, insidious and seemingly as unstoppable as a tsunami, as Raim’s time with Delilah comes closer to its inevitable end…
“All I have is this moment.” – Raim
Haunting! Tendrils of desire twine throughout this story, enriching the scenes and adding subtle shadings to the characters’ personalities. A captivating read!

I’ve read every book in this serious. More like devoured them. I love this series. So when it came time for Raim’s book I wasn’t so sure. Raim was a hard character for me to like. The way he was in the previous books made it difficult to like him let alone want to read a book about him. Even the book before this didn’t really improve my opinion of him. So when I started reading this book I didn’t have high hopes I was going to enjoy this book.
Turns out I was pleasantly surprised to find I couldn’t put the book down. Raim goes from an unloveable demon to very much loved. Dee brings out a side of him I didn’t think he was capable of having.
It definitely is great way to end the series. A demon that is so hard to love, let alone like, turns out to be one of my favorites.
