From the Amazon Charts and #1 New York Times bestselling author comes a psychological thriller exploring the things we dare to do when no one is looking . . .
The community along Oregon’s Deschutes River is one of successful careers and perfect families. For years, up-and-comers Liz and Owen have admired their good friends and neighbors, Carole and David. They appear to have it all—security, … have it all—security, happiness, and a beautiful young son, Charlie.
Then Charlie vanishes without a trace, and all that seemed safe is shattered by a tragedy that is incomprehensible—except to Liz.
It took one fleeting moment for her to change the lives of everyone she loves—a heartrending accident that can’t be undone. Neither can the second-worst mistake of her life: concealing it. As two marriages crack and buckle in grief and fear, Liz retreats into her own dark place of guilt, escalating paranoia—and betrayals even she can’t imagine. Because there’s another good neighbor who has his own secrets, his own pain, and his own reasons for watching Liz’s every move.
And only he knows that the mystery of the missing boy on the Deschutes River is far from over.

The Last Thing She Ever Did by author Gregg Olsen is amazing! WOW! Once I started reading I could not stop. I don’t post spoilers, but I will tell you this is one of the best thrillers I have read recently. Within a short minute, the whole world can change due to actions we take or choices we make.
The principal characters are living busy lives and ignoring their growing personal discontent. Liz is in a hurry to take an important test, Carole is frustrated and goes inside to finish a phone call leaving her three year old son outside, and angry neighbor watches them both from across the river. As all three make choices, a child is hanging in the balance between life and death. Two families will be caught up in lies, selfish motives, and misery. I kept wondering how this was going to come together and the ending does not disappoint.
Years ago I vacationed in Bend and stayed on the Deschutes River, so this area was very familiar.
In all honesty, I am only 25% through this book, however it is riveting from the first chapter. The characters are tragic, you can see their mistakes coming and you are thinking NO,NO! but you can’t stop them, you can’t warn them! It is a testament to the ability of this author to pull you in and never loosen his grip on you. I am looking forward to the rest of this page turner that has haunted me and made me write a pre-review. I have never done this with any other book. Praise to you Gregg Olsen! !
Loved this book
I don’t remember a book where I really didn’t like any of the characters at all. They were a bunch of self-serving idiots. In spite of that, I actually enjoyed the book. I liked the back story of Liz at the beginning although I’m not sure the best place for that information was at the beginning. It was a realistic story in the split second stupid things people are known to do and how that decision impacts their life and the lives of those around them. I would have preferred the ending to not just stop with questions on what happened and how people reacted to the news or if there was any punishment to the people who made the dumb decisions. It was a tragic story and the only character I really felt sorry for was the little boy Charlie. Fast paced story that kept me wanting to find out what happened. It was a little predictable, but most books are.
This book was fast paced and intense. You will be hooked from the first page, and you will not be able to put this book down. It is an intense story about how dangerous secrets can be… and how easily mistakes are made. The emotions inside this book will rip you in two, and you will not be able to stop yourself from finding the truth… no matter what the cost may be. Gregg Olsen is taking not prisoners with this novel… and he is a master at creating terrifying moments.
Have you ever thrown a pebble into a puddle of water and watched the ripples begin? Well, that’s how this book started: a horrible accident, a mistake, and the percussions (ripples) that it cause two families along the way to an unpredictable ending. I almost didn’t want to read this after the first chapter because it involved a child and tragedy; however, knowing Mr. Olsen’s writings, I couldn’t put it down. In fact, every few minutes I had with ‘waiting’ for something, I picked up this book.
One decision changes lives and situations around them. Think about that. And while you’re thinking, get this book and enjoy a wild ride. I would give it more than 5* if possible.
Thank you, Mr. Olsen. On to “Snow Creek”
Kept me in suspense from beginning to end with a twist at every bend
What starts as a disturbing beginning becomes intriguing and engaging. Thinking she has accidentally killed a three-year-old neighbor boy with her car, a woman hides him in her garage, covers him with a tarp, and confesses to her husband when he arrives home from work that evening. Guilt, lies, secrets, and hatred commence, as well as the breakdown among the characters. I enjoyed the ending, but it will leave you hanging.
This book was so different. What it would be like to do something unthinkable – and then have to live with it – and lie to your closest friend, who implicitly trusts you.
This is a book you want to keep reading to see where it goes. The people were really brought to life by the author. They all seemed so real. I do recommend
It held my interest all the way through.
Good read, had a twisted ending.
I love any book written by Gregg Olsen!
Good story.
I would have liked to have a little more info at the end. It just chopped off,
but I would still recommend it.
A great story…. I read most everything by this author.
This book was so fantastic and was very hard to put down. It made you want to keep on reading. The only thing I did not like was the abrupt and quick ending. I wish the ending could have been a little longer so the readers could know what did eventually happen.
WOW! I could not put this book down! I finished it in one day. I bought the ebook and also the audio. I started listening to it while I cooked supper and stayed up most of the night listening to it. The narrator has a lovely voice that really brought the characters alive! And the twist, I really didn’t see that coming. I would definitely recommend both the book and audiobook!
Talk about psychological suspense! It was crazy what happened and the actions and reactions of various characters. I never suspected a lot of what happened!
I enjoyed the book but none of the characters were very likable. I kind of guessed what was going on, and I’d rather be surprised. It’s a shame because the book started out so promising. It was entertaining enough to recommend, just try to overlook the main characters. The ending was worth it.
