From the Amazon Charts and #1 New York Times bestselling author comes a psychological thriller exploring the things we dare to do when no one is looking . . .
The community along Oregon’s Deschutes River is one of successful careers and perfect families. For years, up-and-comers Liz and Owen have admired their good friends and neighbors, Carole and David. They appear to have it all—security, … have it all—security, happiness, and a beautiful young son, Charlie.
Then Charlie vanishes without a trace, and all that seemed safe is shattered by a tragedy that is incomprehensible—except to Liz.
It took one fleeting moment for her to change the lives of everyone she loves—a heartrending accident that can’t be undone. Neither can the second-worst mistake of her life: concealing it. As two marriages crack and buckle in grief and fear, Liz retreats into her own dark place of guilt, escalating paranoia—and betrayals even she can’t imagine. Because there’s another good neighbor who has his own secrets, his own pain, and his own reasons for watching Liz’s every move.
And only he knows that the mystery of the missing boy on the Deschutes River is far from over.

I’m a Greg Olsen fan and although I felt this was not one of his best, it still kept me entertained and wanting more from Mr Olsen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It captures your attention from the very beginning and never lets it go. You never know in advance exactly what you might do in the worst of situations. Even when the characters made the very worst of decisions I still found myself feeling empathy for them.
This is a must read! This may be my favorite yet of this author’s books. It is suspenseful, mysterious and twisted all at the same time. Just when I thought I knew who and what, I was blown away with another twist. The characters, wow!, what can I say. They are love to hate type and drove me crazy but they completely made the story. They did make the story feel real and I was completely sucked into the story. I won’t say to much so I don’t give any spoilers away but lets just say this is a must read.
This was my very first Gregg Olsen book and certainly will NOT be the last. It was actually recommended to me by the author himself recently in Post Falls, Idaho at a book signing of his non-fiction work, “The Deep Dark”. I am so glad I followed his suggestion……”The Last Thing She Ever Did” was an original, thrilling read that I had trouble putting down. I now have another favorite author!
I liked this book. I thought it was very entertaining and just proves the grass is not always greener in your neighbors back yard.
Gregg Olsen is a great writer. Planning to read everything he has written !!
Love Gregg but didn’t like the ending of this one
not what I expected from the title.
I normally only read true crime, but lately I’ve have gotten hooked on Greg Olsen’s novels. Love them!
This is a great book. I loved the characters and the story line. It was great right up until the very end.
