An interesting twist on the Teaching Profession and how an outsider is treated. The protagonist comes to teaching from a background very different from most, but one that suits the situation admirably. Interesting plot twists keep the story moving forward to an unexpected conclusion.
Looking forward to reading the next in the series. It was fun.
Alan Lee is outstanding. Mac August (lead character) is believable and characters built around him absolutely flow into the story line.
I have read all of Lee’s books and look forward to the next.
I enjoyed the writing of this author. This new series is in the vein of Robert Parkers Spenser books and earlier detective books. The characters are unique and interesting. The plot is engaging and intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed this and all the subsequent books in the series.
Loved Mack August as a middle school teacher solving murders. The pace is fast, the dialogue is snappy, and the characters intriguing. Totally entertaining.
Great story and characters. Humor mixed with excellent plot!
I loved this series. I think each book gets better. They are fun to read and the characters come alive as the story progresses.
Great read! This novel is based on an ex cop turned teacher with a young baby in tow. It is packed with action, a little romance, humor & ends with a good twist. What’s not to like?
Easy reading. Not a book that draws you in where you just need to know what comes next, just a pretty good read.
This is a really good first book in a series. A teacher, single dad, and ex-cop (all the same guy) is tracking a killer. Very good read.
Well written. Will look for more books by same author.
Interesting and original storyline and plot. Realistic characters with good individual stories. Fun besides!!!
I liked the plot and action in the book. I didn’t like some of the language and there was an incorrect fact near the end of the book.
Good escapism during the pandemic!
Loved the style, story, characters. Everything!
I never suspected who actually did it!
Good read.
Engaging main character. Consistently funny dialogue while presenting strength and competence. Interesting plot with some surprises along the way.
Detailed enough yet some surprises. Who done it + too much money spoils the people.
A great book and series. Thoroughly enjoyable, even when looking up “vocabulary words” used by the main character. The main character is flawed enough to make him realistic, but resilient and endearing at the same time.
