I’m a bit obsessed with this novella. The Last Stand has me hooked. I am so ready to read this series now, I absolutely loved this.
Paris Hansch has created a really unique storyline and I am obsessed with the world-building here. The magic and mystery behind it are really captivating.
This novella starts off action-packed, and continues that pace through the pages. The magic system is unique. The strong female lead was deep and intriguing. I can’t rave enough.
Highly recommended! I can’t wait for more of this series!!

You get the whole package with all the chaos, mayhem and shenanigans, propelling this bad boy to life spectacularly. This was a really good fantasy book. With great action. The story and characters are well written. I highly recommend reading. (Received this book as an arc and am leaving a voluntary honest review)
I got this book thru an ARC, Advanced Review Copy with an honest review given freely.
The story line was great with a very clever way of getting the charcaters to interact with one abother through out the story.
Would read more from this author if allowed.
This was a great prequel. It lets readers know what will be happening in subsequent books. What would you do if your vow was do no harm and you ended up killing someone? He may have been an assassin, but still. If you knew it was the end would you have the presence of mind to save someone? Highly recommended.

The Last Stand (Empire of the Dragon Gods #0.5)
by Paris Hansch
This is an unbiased review based on a copy the author sent to me.
This is a 124 page prequel to Empire of the Dragon Gods Trilogy with Book One: The Dragon Princess.
The story begins in inter of the year 1760 of the Fey Dynasty and Celia the Head Priestess of Anadrieth’s Dragon Temple is locked in a battle with another assassin, she has no choice but to end it by breaking her vow – her vow of never using her powers for wrong – but what other choice did she have? She is a Priestess who protects, guides and nurtures her people, her position consisting of many roles such as awakening individuals…which is exactly what created all of her problems.
Had she misinterpreted Empress Megumi’s wishes after all?
Her actions of using her spirit arts and awakening a twin brother and sister changed Celia’s life forever, but what other option had there been? If they had not been awakened they would have died.
With her peoples lives at risk should she remain loyal to the Empire or make a stand for their innocence?
My thoughts on this book: I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end! I love how the reader is thrown into the story at the beginning with such a nailbiting start. The characters are explored and described in great detail along with the environment and I couldn’t hep but devour this in one sitting!
I give The Last Stand (Empire of the Dragon Gods #0.5) 5 out of 5 stars.
This was a great prequel to introduce you to the world of The Dragon Princess. Definitely helps to read this one first. Helps you understand the characters and action better.
It also hooks you into the world so that you want to read more. I rarely pay full price for ebooks, but after reading The Last Stand, I preordered The Dragon Princess and waited impatiently for it to release.
I really liked this…..Looking forward to the series
Never tick off those in power.
Journey to a time and place when magic was rife. People exist sharing the powers of the three dragons.
The Empress and her consort, each inherited the power of a dragon.
The High Priestess and other’s like her each have bits of the power of the remaining dragon. A priestess’ daughter gets her special powers from her mother’s bloodline. Head Priestess Celia Bellemore is a powerful priestess. She has a young daughter, Maria. This story is their tale.
Read what happens when the Empress becomes paranoid against her subjects.
I received a free copy of this beginning to the series.
Saving her Daughter after her Dragon God forces her Top Priestess to dishonor herself ?? I am an Honest ARC reviewer ,This book makes you crave more ..See what comes next
what a good first book to introduce a series. To know that the priestesses are under attack is a great page turner. Lots of action too.
The Last Stand (Empire of the Dragon Gods Book 0), my first read from author Paris Hansch, caught my attention in the opening pages. I’d gotten this book back in December of 2019 & I wanted to read it but never got around to it, my loss. I look forward to reading more in this series (The Dragon Princess (Empire of the Dragon Gods Book 1)) and from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Wow. Just…wow. Words cannot describe.
This is my first book about dragons or dragon gods so I really wasn’t sure what to expect. It grabbed me from the beginning and never let go. I know I will be reading the next book in the series soon.
It was great to see such strong female leads. We fon’t get in many genres at all
Since I an new to the world if dragons, dragon gods and Highpriestness’ i wasn’t sure what some of the mystical powers they have and am still not real clear on tomes. Just glad they have them.
I really like how the characters are really fleshed out and the description of the scenery, could make me close my eyes and feel like I was there and knew some of the people. You sure don’t get that in all books.
This is a GREAT AUTHOR & a MUST READ WONDERFUL FANATSY BOOK.
