One horrifying day will change the life of sixteen-year-old Shane Tucker and every other kid in the world.
In a span of mere hours, the entire adult population is decimated, leaving their children behind to fend for themselves and deal with the horrific aftermath of the freak occurrence. As one of the newly made elders in his small town, Shane finds himself taking on the role of caretaker for a … caretaker for a large group of juvenile survivors. One who just happens to be Kelly Douglas — an out-of-his-league classmate — who, on any other day, would have never given Shane a second glance.
Together, they begin their quest to find out why all of the adults were slaughtered. What they find is even more horrifying than anything they could have expected — the annihilation of the adults was only the beginning. Shane and his friends are not the unlucky survivors left to inherit this new, messed-up planet. No, they are its next victims. There is an unknown power out there, and it won’t stop until every person in the world is dead.
A spine-tingling adventure that will have you gasping for breath all the way until the last page, The Last Orphans is the first book in an all-new apocalyptic series.

Loved it. I never knew what was coming next. Couldn’t wait to see what was coming next. I’m anxious to read the next book!
I really enjoyed this book.
Although this is not they tyoe of book I normally buy, it was hard to put down once I got into the characters and storyline
Exciting YA apocalyptic read about teenagers and other children left orphaned in a world where adults are dead or dying under violent attacks of animals or other humans, while the clock is ticking on them. If you like action and suspense, give it a chance!
realistic for a fantasy!
The Last Orphans by N.W. Harris opens with a situation familiar to many of us; a family in a time of struggle, slowly being torn apart by grief, alcohol, anger, and time. Have you ever been so mad at someone, your spouse, parent, child, boss, etc., that you said to them or yourself, “I wish you would just disappear, go away and never come back!”? …
This was a super easy and quick read. The story was interesting when it comes to apocalyptic thrillers. It isn’t your zombie horde, virus pandemic, or natural disaster book and that is what sparks the imagination. No character is too important to be killed off and so it makes all the twists and turns that much crazier. I enjoyed the book and plan …
I was bored with this book & had to really force myself to get through it.
It was interesting. I didn’t like how it ended. It was obvious that there is more that would be depressing and upsetting. It was tragic, but I didn’t like that.
It was ok.
It was very similiar to several other books I have read. Teens take over a dystopian world.
I just had to order the next book in the series. Couldn’t put it down.
I loved this and so did my pre-teen daughter. Great story
Amazing book; I couldn’t put it down
Enjoyed the pacing and character development.
Couldn’t put it down till I read it all the way through. I plan on reading the next in the series.
Loved this book. Great story, compelling characters. Read it in one sitting. Can’t wait to read the next one!
Can be gross at time with the details but a very good book about how the world will restart. Ready to read book two.
Intriguing from the very first chapter. Unexpected story line. The main character, Shane grows as a person and becomes a strong leader.
I recommend this book to any teen with an imagination. Definitely a story with purpose. Loved it.
