All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows. While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now … Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.
In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate.

I was so tired last night, but could not make myself go to bed until I finished this book! It was SO good! I loved how everything came around to full closure. We get to see what Rachel means to the story, we get to see an improvement with Percy’s relationship with his dad, we get to see Clarisse do something really good, and we get answers about Luke. To be honest, I’m sad that it’s over, however the loose ends are all tied up and you’re left with a definite feeling of completeness. Now I can watch the movie, though I know it will not do justice to Mr. Riordan’s story.
Wow what a crazy wild ride this series was. I really enjoyed it even though it is aimed at much younger audience. But I liked that I could buddy read it with my kids, and that it was both young naive and a bit more mature at the same time,
This final book wraps everything p very nicely, everything comes together and makes sense. Every thing we learned and everyone we met or lost a long the way has their moment and everything ties together great.
It was great seeing these kids grow up over the spam of years and follow their story. Im excited to see more of the in other books.
Percy and Annabeth finally figuring things out with each other, what we the readers knew all a long a long time a\go. But I’m glad it got solved on the page and we got to see it.
I will surely miss Percy, Tyson and the rest of the gang.
I highly recommend this series to everyone , its fun, its light and easy to read and super exciting to share with the whole family.
Rate it 5
Several years ago I saw the movie Percy Jackson Lightning Thief with my grandson. I loved the movie and couldn’t wait for the sequels, but my grandson aged out.
However, the story intrigued me and I just blew through all five novels in the series. I loved every single one.
Ummmmmm…..Why does(spoiler) Selena AND Beckondorf have to die!?!?!?PS Luke I awesomeness!!!!!!! Don’t you forget it.!!
A top-notch finale for a wonderfully inventive series! New York’s Olympus has to be saved by a rag-tag band of teenage demi-gods and centaurs because the gods are involved elsewhere in the war with the Titan. Percy and his friends come through in ways both expected and unexpected, with all their teen issues causing additional conflict. This whole series is a grand success!
Honestly the best way to end a wonderful series. Thank you Rick Riordan for this amazing series.
I loved it so much! I wish the series were even longer!
Rick Riordan is the master of a short timeline and a compelling book. The mark of an excellent children’s book is that it can be enjoyed by adults and children alike.
I put this review on the wrong book first try *facepalm*
In this fifth and last book of the series, Percy Jackson gathers his friends for the final battle against the Titans and also faces the Great Prophecy, the one that predicts a child of the Big Three must make a choice that will save or destroy Olympus on their sixteenth birthday.
I really liked this book. While it may not be my favorite of the series, it did have me gripping the pages at one am in the morning. In most books, the ‘final battle’ happens in the last few chapters. But here, the final battle spans over almost the entire book, at least 260 out of 360 pages. I liked this better, because it always feels like the lead up to the battle is slow. However, in this book, with a battle that lasts days, the action was always there. At times, I felt tired myself watching the young demigods continuously fight. But it was preferable to the first hundred pages that didn’t have as fast a pace.
Also, I lived for Percy’s and Annabeth’s relationship in this. In the past books, there were hints that someday they may be closer than their friendship at the time. But this book there were more than just hints; there was definitely a stronger attraction there. Meanwhile, Percy was also struggling with his relationship with Rachel Elizabeth Dare and I wanted to strangle him sometimes from how clueless Percy was sometimes. And those strong awkward feelings made this read all the more enjoyable.
Finally, I loved that even for a middle-grade book there was still the deep ideas of death, sacrifice, and what it means to be a hero. I loved the theme of people being both good and bad. There were those who betrayed the Camp, and yet still saved the day. Those who had good intentions but made mistakes along the way. And this shows exactly what being human (or god or demi-god) is! I can see a middle schooler reading this and being able to understand those whom they have seen as bad, perhaps developing a deeper empathy than they had before.
With all this great stuff, there were still a couple aspects I didn’t like about the book. First, I think the first hundred pages was a bit slow, before we delved into the battle. Perhaps that’s just my anxiety to get to the action. When I opened the first page, I was surprised to find a year had passed since the end of the last book and Percy was with Rachel and I felt like I missed so much, and yet catching up felt kind of dull at first.
I also felt that some of the characters didn’t have fair representation in this story. I have always loved Hades and Persephone in the classic mythology. I believe this is the first time in the Riordan-verse that we meet Persephone, and she was honestly just whiny and kind of useless. This portrayal of her did not fit my idea of a strong queen of the underworld. In addition, perhaps more importantly, I thought that Clarisse was kind of done dirty in this book. For most of the book, she’s away, refusing to fight because of a silly disagreement. While the stubbornness does fit with her character, we’ve seen acts of heroism from her in the past and I believe that as a child of Ares she would be ready to take on battle for the greater good.
Perhaps my concerns of the book are silly, but this is just my opinion of how I felt. I still give this book four stars out five; it was a wonderful conclusion that wrapped everything together.
Overall, I think I’d also give the series four stars. In fact, I think I’ve given every book in the series a four star! My favorite is probably Battle of the Labyrinth followed by the Titan’s Curse, then the Last Olympian, the Sea of Monsters, and in last place, the Lightening Thief.
Percy Jackson and his friends are trying to save NYC and their world from Kronos. Throughout the book, Percy continues to meet new characters from mythology along with learning more about his friends. I enjoy going back to these stories to read about the trials and tribulations but also about how they work together to overcome the obstacles.
Best Book Ever
I have no idea how to read this book! I am dying to read it! So that is why I am rating it a 2 star!
Ok just wow!!! Now that was a great fun-filled, action-packed, chaotic and delightful read. I wasn’t sure how the author was going to wrap this one up and was a little anxious to read this. Talk about the perfect package all wrapped up with a pretty bow.
Now it’s time to move on the the spin-offs!!
death, betrayal, and happily ever after (only for a few weeks tho) a big battle, percy realizes just about how powerful he is.
The half-bloods have been preparing for the battle all year, but the odds are against them.
It has all been leading up to this, the final battle between Titans and Gods. Gods are busy fighting Typhon, Poseidon is defending his underwater palace and Hades refuses to join the battle. All that leaving Mount Olympus undefended, and it will up Percy and other campers to defend it, with help of hunters, nature spirits, and centaurs.
It’s an epic conclusion to the series, with the promise of more. 🙂 I think this was my favorite in the series, it has a different tone, but the intensity and action are turned to max. I love the ending, it made it all right in a way. 🙂
Highly recommend the whole series! 🙂
This series, but this book especially, is what really inspired me to write. This is a must read for any fan of mythology.
I loved this book and it is one of my favorite books by Rick Riordan.
Intense battles, love, tragedy, redemption, and comedy all rolled into one. Loved this one!
