“Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train.”—Library Journal (starred review)
Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.
To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.
Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn’t have a plan. Amber uses Daphne’s compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family’s life—the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long, Amber is Daphne’s closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters, and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked towards, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.
With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

Definitely keeps you guessing
THis was an easy read, with some twists, but I didn’t give more starts, because it reminded me a lot of a movie. So I felt it was a copy of that, just done a little different.
Very entertaining but far-fetched, especially towards the end. A fun beach read, though.
What do sociopaths and victims have in common? In this book they both get what they deserve! Unfortunately there is a lot of pain to get there.
This book is told in 3 sections. Section one is about Amber – a woman going after what she wants no matter what. Just about the time you think things couldn’t get any deeper, this section ends.
Section two is about Daphne – the target. This retells the story from her point of view and we learn the other side of the story and of her life.
Section three brings the two perspectives into focus and the story twists into a new direction which is satisfying to the reader.
This is a well written psychological “thriller”.
Almost quit reading until the second part of the book started. It saved the book for me and explained why I scanned the first half. Keep reading!
I read this after reading The Wife Between Us. While well written, I would recommend just reading one of the two. They have very similar story lines and I preferred The Wife Between Us.
Daphne and Jackson Parrish are the “it” couple of Bishops Harbor. Amber Patterson wants to be part of the in crowd, in fact she wants what Daphne has and she will do anything to get it. A riveting novel of suspense!
Very satisfying ending!

Be careful what you wish for…
I must admit, Part Two came as a surprise. It is difficult to review a book of this nature without revealing any spoilers. Suffice it to say that not everything is as it seems, and everyone has one or two tricks up their sleeves in this domestic and psychological thriller.
Amber is simply diabolical. She is completely devoid of morals. She envisions for herself a life of grandeur and will step on anyone and everyone to get what she wants. She is as meticulously prepared as she is mercilessly unscrupulous. She’s a character you will love to hate.
The relationships between the characters are impeccably crafted. Daphne’s youngest daughter is so incredibly irritating and selfish that you want to smack her parents every time they cave to her whims. Daphne’s relationship with her mother is strained and unfortunate. Her relationship with her husband appears so solid, it’s hard to believe anyone would try to wedge herself between them. Amber is watching everyone closely, learning how to manipulate each and every person in the Parrish family.
There are some potential triggers in this novel, but naming them would spoil the story, so enter this tale with caution and thick skin. If you read this novel, please contact me, because I am bursting at the seams having to keep myself from giving too much away!
One of my favorites. Love this author….
Amber Patterson did not have a privileged childhood. She has nothing but contempt for her parents and sisters. She’s left her hometown and created a new life in Bishops Harbor, Connecticut and created a fictitious past. She orchestrates a meeting with Daphne Parrish, wife to wealthy businessman, Jackson Parrish, and founder of Julie’s Smile. Julie’s Smile is an organization dedicated to helping families of those with Cystic Fibrosis. Amber claims that she lost her sister to CF just as Daphne lost hers.
Amber begins inserting herself into every aspect of the Parrish family’s life. She becomes best friends with Daphne, helps with the fundraiser for Julie’s Smile, and spends time with Daphne’s two daughters. Amber’s ultimate plan is to become the next Mrs. Parrish. She wants the perfect life that Daphne has – the designer clothes, the beautiful home on the Long Island Sound, the apartment in the city, the expensive vacations…. She will do whatever it takes to take Daphne’s place as Jackson’s wife.
I can’t say too much because there are some major spoilers. I enjoyed this book but I did figure out the major twist early on. However, there were still a lot of surprises along the way. I struggled with Amber’s character because she was so hateful, mean, and angry without any significant reason, other than growing up in a working class family. My one criticism is that she was 100% awful, which is unrealistic, but it made the reader feel less uncomfortable with what ultimately happens.
This is a book you will not be able to put down. I finished it in a day because I had to know what would happen to these characters. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the world of the ultra rich. Despite Amber’s feelings toward Daphne, I found Daphne to be a wonderful person who spent so much of her time helping others. She has a good heart and you find yourself wanting the best for her. This was a great, quick read.
Wow!
Lots of plot twists. Great ending.
I love novels with clever twists and this one delivered! Bravo Ladies! The Last Mrs. Parish was a fun compelling read!
Easy reading.
Loved it. Couldn’t put it down.
This book was amazing! Killer twist!
What a surprise!
It’s ok.
It was a little to contrived and easy to figure out what was coming next.
However, it was an easy read and entertaining.
